INTRUDER'S POV :
“Grey! Wake up!” I heard someone calling my name.
I really didn’t want to wake up. I am so tired from the training before, and today was a holiday. I am not going to wake up early on a holiday. Nope, never.
I squinted to see who was calling me.
“Elise go away. Let me sleep.” I groaned covering my ears and closing my eyes again.
“I can’t do that Grey! You’re the only one available. I can’t find the others, so now you have to go to world seven and follow the thread. We have been told that there is a new variable.”
“I don’t care Elise! Why don’t you go instead?” I asked.
“Fine, you asked for it.”I heard Elise say as she moved. Thank god, she was leaving.
Or so I thought.
“Thank you-” I started when I interrupted by water being poured over me from Elise’s hand.
“Dude, what the-?” I stood up annoyed, only to see Elise whistling and walking away.
“Don’t worry Grey, it won’t be boring. I’ve heard that the variable’s thread is quite powerful. It will be fun.”
"So what if the thread is powerful? We have plenty of-"
"I mean really powerful," replied Elise emphasising the 'really.'
But that's not all, you will never guess which world she is from."
"You're saying it as if she is from World Seven," I replied, joking.
"She actually is," replied Elise as she left.
"You're joking right?" I asked.
"Nope."
“Yeah sure,” I muttered sarcastically as I dried my clothes with a flick of my hands.
That was what I had said in the morning but, I wasn't so sure anymore. The thread was indeed stronger than all the others I had seen until now. I could literally feel the power radiating from it.
But that was not the biggest problem.
What was most surprising was that the thread was originating from World Seven. The least magical place of all. The place farthest away from my world. World Zero. People in World Seven rarely got connected to the thread of destiny, much less one as strong as this. The thread was even stronger than the ones originating from my world, World Zero, which by the way, was the most magical.
No way. I had heard the rumours but I never thought they were true. She couldn’t be? "No Grey, don’t repeat your mistakes there is no definitive proof that she is the one," I thought to myself.
"Grey, you're here,"said a voice.
I turned around and was greeted with Mrs. Rei, the person responsible for managing the threads.
"Oh, hello Mrs. Rei," I replied.
"Are you the one bringiin this variable?"
"Yes. Although it is weird. How come World Seven has someone as strong as this?"
"Yes, and the variable is still in World Seven, untrained. Once they come here their power might increase. They are going to be important, don't piss them off."
"Mrs. Rei, I don't piss random people off," I pouted.
"Sure, Grey."
I need to go faster... it might be her."
Now, as I stood at the window, breathless, I realised how mistaken I was. She was...
Not special at all.
And she definitely wasn't 'her.'
“Ugh, of course, Grey. What were you thinking? She is obviously not her. Not only the power levels, but her appearance is different as well." I thought to myself.
I couldn’t help but wonder where all the power that I had detected earlier had gone to. Even the thread was weaker than before. Was this some glitch? I had never heard of power levels fluctuating. I must have been mistaken.
“Tsk, she made a mess and passed out,” I muttered as I glanced inside the room.
“I left my sleep for this. She’s just an average variable I must have been mistaken earlie-”
I couldn’t believe what I saw after this.
The thread started to glow up once and the variable started emitting power as strong as before. No wait, let me rephrase. The variable started emitting power stronger than before.
What the hell was going on here?
As I got into the room quietly to pick up one of the papers lying around I started laughing. Just when I thought things couldn’t get any more interesting.
Who was this girl?
Well, I now will have to wait for her to wake up. I sat down on the chair near the window.I must have been tired from the training before. A little too tired.
Because I fell asleep.
Well, shit.
"Rise and shine," I heard someone say.
As I opened my eyes trying to adjust to the sunlight coming through the window, I almost screamed.
I woke up to the variable pointing a knife at me.
"I have had a very shitty day, so you have ten seconds. Tell me, who the hell are you?" said the girl in a low voice.
Sorry Mrs. Rei, I think I pissed her off.
"Well...good morning to you too," I replied, sighing.
