Eden Wolfhade, an exceptionally talented 12-year-old, grew up in a small village in the kingdom of Alzer. His parents, Reyes Wolfhade and June Wolfhade, had loved him dearly.
His daily routine included learning the ins and outs of magic in the morning while having physical training with his mother in the evening.
"Eden, Give me your all! Don't you dare hold back."
"This is my all! How much more do you want me to push?"
Eden never really liked training with his mother. She would not stop until he had reached his absolute limits.
"Honey, you have got to learn when to stop, he is our son after all.” Eden’s father said feeling pity for his son.
"I have to be hard on him because he needs to be able to survive on his own. No matter the situation he is in."
June wanted Eden to be able to fend off any enemy. She taught him all the moves she knew and paid more attention to the powerful ones. The training session finally came to an end after Faya and Elio came. Eden, Faya, and Elio would always play around in the forest while collecting firewood.
"So Eden, how's training?" Elio asked already knowing the answer.
"With dad, things are pretty cool. I learned how to use lightning magic. But with mom, it’s a completely different story.”
Faya and Elio chuckled.
"Come on. It can't be that bad." Faya said.
"You don't understand Faya, every time I make a mistake I have to train even more. I like the lessons but not the way she teaches."
The three of them collected a lot of firewood then started playing around.
“We should head home now. I don't want to stay in the forest after its dark.” Faya, being the responsible one, told the other two.
While they walked, Eden caught a glimpse of something shiny in the corner of his eye. He dashed towards it and started digging the ground to find it, and he did.
"Eden! What did you find?"
"I don't know, Elio. Some, kind of gem, I guess."
He had found a mysterious yellow gem. Faya noticed the crack it had on its side. Not thinking much of it, Eden kept it with him.
They reached the village, waved goodbye, and went to their homes.
"So, did you have fun?" Reyes asked.
"Yea, we did. We collected a lot of extra firewood.'
"Good job. Go take a bath now and we can talk later."
Eden took a bath then sat down for dinner. While June was going through his laundry, she found the gem Eden had got from the forest. She asked him where he found it.
"Oh, I found that in the forest, I was wondering what that was. Do u know?"
Reyes and June were shocked seeing the gem, almost as if they had remembered a painful memory. Then Reyes hesitantly said,
"That's...the transporter stone we used to enter the Joker sanctuary isn't it?"
"Eden, why is it with you? Where did you find it?" His mom said with a hint of worry in her voice.
"I found it in the forest half-buried in the ground. Actually, that brings up something I want to know. Weren't the both of you slayers? Why did you quit? You never told me what happened."
Reyes and June were both A-rank slayers who specialized in magic and physical combat, respectively. They would often change the topic when it came to Slayers.
“I guess we can't keep it a secret from you anymore. It's time you knew what happened."
The bright lives of the citizens of Alzer take a turn after the discovery of sanctuaries. The aura coming from these sanctuaries is the cause of a strange illness that manifests in the living bodies nearby. It is up to the Slayers to scout these sanctuaries and kill the beasts to reduce the level of aura. The year X770 marked the birth of Eden Wolfhade a boy who would obtain a power that would change the world. Will he use this power for good or his greed.
