When I reached my dear lover, he pulled me close to his chest and pet the back of my head.
Archer snuggled his face into my hair. "How did you do that?" He pulled back to look at my face. I was of the verge of tears just by him asking.
'They were all running at me!' I sniffed. Archer just stared at me.
As if he didn't see them running at me full speed!
"I'm sorry, You've just surprised me." He pinched his eyebrows together and stared out across the field, to were I imagined the group of children were probably laughing at my cowardice. "They're in the exact same spot at they were before though. You, Luca and Jace were the only ones running."
'what do you mean? I ran a tiny bit across the field, saw a small group of people turn giant, because they were charging at me, and ran straight back!' what did he mean they didn't move? Stupid Archer! There was no other reason for our distance to be closed that fast.
Archer stared at me, eyebrows raised, as if he didn't fully understand me. "So you're telling me, you didn't run 100 metres in 7 seconds, and then ran another 100 metres back..?"
I nodded. 'I only ran a bit, then ran back, just like I've been explaining for a while now.' Why didn't he believe me? Did I have a reason to lie? No!
"Robin, you have to admit sooner or later that you're incredibly gifted. There's no need to make excuses." I just stared at him.
I was not 'gifted' in any way. I was cursed. Nobody, not even my own mother treated me kindly until I met Archer. My appearance was so unusual, people often told my mother that she mustve done something unmentionable to be 'gifted' with me. Yeah, this 'gift' was what lead me to be kept in a pitch black room until the day of my 5th birthday, only to be dragged out, blinded by the sudden change of light, starved, and sent to work as the Lord's animal boy, until I was 10.
"It makes sense, don't you think?" Again, Archer's voice dragged me from my sick memories. "You've been able to escape humans so easily, even hunt them down. You get yourself out of trouble quickly."
I looked away shyly, completly forgetting about the frightening memories of the past. It did make sense though. I always found it easy to run away, or chase people, but I always thought that was because they were humans.
"Alright everyone!" Archer yelled. "We will get back to drills immediately!"
"I definitely won that race, Acey-boy!" Luca smirked, trying to aggitate Jace.
"Whatever you say, Luca." He sighed and walked away, to stand by Kai, waiting for the next set of drills.
Robin was raised as a peasant in the magical Opal Kingdom. He has jet-black hair like most of the peasant, but his eyes are pale and he lacks the ability to talk, this has resulted in him not having any friends (with Archer as an exception). He developed the powerful gift to detect the difference from each voice he hears. This has lead him to overhear terrible and frightening plans .
Archer was raised to be a skilled knight for the Opal Kingdom. He is tall with a solid build and dark brown hair. Archer was born with the ability to read peoples minds -a very useful power for a knight-. He developed a strong relationship with Robin after he realised Robin could communicate with him telepathically..
The people of Opal were forced to flee suddenly, after a human invasion on the kingdom. The king was slaughtered and many were taken hostage to be used for their power. Those who fled are hidden amongst the humans.
Robin has promised himself that he'll protect his people, and eventually (with the help of Archer) restore the kingdom to it's former glory.
