Edward was staring at the house they were standing in front of. He seriously thought this was going to be harder for Akira than it was for him. He glanced over to Akira for a brief second, there was no way. How…? He felt like running. There was no way he could spend the night in this house, let alone the rest of his life. Akira had said to bring their stuff for an overnight stay. They were planning on being there for literally one night, just to see if Akira could do it.

Edward had never learned that Akira’s parents were killed, at least not until now. He was a bit peeved that Akira hadn’t told him, but at the same time, would it really have made a difference? It totally would have made a difference! Edward would have looked into it. Hell, he probably would have found out that he was the one that did it and that would have made him make sure he didn’t fall in love with Akira. Now here he was, married to the man whose parents he killed when he was just 16!

“Edward? Edward? Edward! Are you listening?” Akira called out to him, looking a bit ticked off. He had called out to Edward several times. He was waiting at the door and telling Edward to grab the rest of the bags from the car.

Edward snapped to and gave a nodded, “yeah, sorry, what?” he asked.

Akira sighed; he really didn’t need Edward to be off in la-la land while he was struggling in keeping everything together. This wasn’t easy for him, and he couldn’t see why Edward was acting like a total jerk not being there to support him. All Edward was doing was staring at the house and scenery around him. He tsked his tongue before explaining again what he wanted Edward to do. When Edward finally responded, though it was slow, Akira couldn’t be bothered to watch the other and decided to finally go inside.

Akira was shocked by how good of a condition it was still in. True, it was dusty and needed a bit of updating, but the house was clearly taken care of. He figured Sato probably had a crew come in every now and then and had them fix things that needed fixing. He moved from room to room, living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom, and two guest rooms. One of which was ready to be turned into a den if need be. He smiled at the old house, he had lots of fond memories here. His smile faded as he remembered he also had lots of bad memories there.

Once they were both in the house, Edward shut the door behind them and looked around the house, he still remembered this house even after all these years. He slowly walked around the house much like Akira had, but couldn’t bring himself to go into the makeshift den. He now knew more than he ever wanted to about Akira and he wasn’t sure how he was going to go about this.

Edward found he was stuck, if Akira could manage to live here for a night and wanted to move in, it wasn’t like Edward could say no without telling Akira what he had done. He moved into the master bedroom where they were going to sleep, before setting the things down on the floor. He wanted to run and disappear forever, but he couldn’t. His one ray of light was standing there. His one ray of hope that his life could get better. “You okay?” he asked.

Akira was staring out the bedroom window at the tree he had been asleep under when his parents had been killed. His brother and he had been having a camping trip outside in their backyard when it happened. He loved that tree; it had grown quite a bit since he had been here. “Yeah, just remembering is all,” he said and looked back to Edward. “Come on, let’s go check out the neighborhood. If we are thinking about staying here we should at the very least check the whole area out,” he said, as he headed back to the front door.

Honestly, Akira wanted to get out of there as he was slowly enveloped with fear of the house. The bad memories were becoming overwhelming and for a moment he wasn’t sure if he wanted to spend even the night there, but he had promised himself that he would stay at least one night.

Edward was incredibly grateful to be out of that house. He just had to act normal that was all, that’s what you did for the one you loved after all, right? He smiled, “Yeah, okay.”

Akira gave a smile to Edward and headed off, as Edward followed after him. As they walked around, Akira commented on things he remembered about the neighborhood and the things he recognized. He would tell good stories about things that happened, how there was this cool dog at this house, and this was Timmy’s house, or that this is where the crazy old woman lived, the one that everyone thought was a witch. They were really enjoying the area until they turned down one of the corners.
