As I woke up at the crack of dawn my tired self got bathed, dressed and done up for my first outing to the capital. They decided to dress me in light clothes as the capital will be hot, but as it is further away from the curse it does not need a magical barrier to protect everyone.
“Princess, how should we do your hair today?” Olive asks with a bright smile. I stared at her blanked face and expressionless, as if I was sleeping with my eyes open.
“Okay I’m thinking I will do a high ponytail and insert small pink gems into your hair?” She giggled while pulling my hair in all directions. The reason I am so tired was because I kept having this weird dream or maybe it was a feeling. I felt like someone was calling out to me and it scared me so much that I stayed hidden under my blankets the whole night.
“All done” Olive hummed while moving away.
I look up and watch my hair flow in a high ponytail. The beautiful pink crystals shone in my hair and my traditional empire clothes fitted the style.
“Olive you should be a fashion designer or something” I mumble which causes her to gush at me.
“Ohohoh, your too nice to me princess” she smiles while grabbing my now red cheek.
“Are you ready princess?” Aenon asks as he just entered the room, I nodd in response. Walking over to him I throw my arms up demanding to be carried.
“I won’t be able to do this when you get older princess” he cried while picking me up, I ignored his comment and rested my head on his shoulder.
As we all made our way out to the carriage I heard a small howl, peeking over Aenons shoulder I noticed it was Mura.
“Mura did you want to come with us?” I ask now, finally starting to wake up, he howled as a response and wagged his tail intensely.
….
As we all made our way out to the carriage, father said his goodbyes before returning to work, unfortunately he’s really busy with the empire. I'm not sure about the details but he looks tired.
“Didn’t you want anyone else to come with us princess?” Aenon asks as he puts me in the carriage.
“No I just wanted to have a day out by myself” I smiled brightly towards him, he had a small bit of concern on his face but kept quiet.
Now sitting in the carriage, Mura was currently laying on my lap and Olive was sitting across from me. I'm happy Aenons guarding the carriage, it makes me feel more safe.
‘Finally we’re exiting the gates’
As I haven’t been out of the castle since I arrived here I’m truly excited to see our empire and how thriving it is.
….
Shortly after our departure I noticed that we were travelling vertically, it was so steep I had to change sides and sit next to Olive.
“Olive, why is this hill so steep?” I ask.
“Because of the curse the emperor had to put a kind of barrier to stop the emptiness from travelling to the city, so he made a sand wall” she comments, all though she’s a servant she’s very helpful.
“With magic we can pass over it, it’s like a massive hill” she smiled, it looked like she was enjoying it.
After a while we finally started to make our way to the top of the hill, I heard a small knock on the window, so looking over I noticed Aenon was asking me to open it.
“Look princess this your Empire” he comments while pointing out to the distance, I quickly pull my head out of the window to look into the distance, but being as I’m so small I could barely see. After a while of struggle I felt warm hands wrap around me and pull me out.
“Hold on to the rails” Aenon comments, as he places me in front of him on his cat like animal, it was all black and had huge ears and tail.
“She’s called Jude” he comments while patting the side of her neck. Smiling at the kind creature I finally took my eyes off the floor and looked out in front. There my eyes lighted up and the beautiful colours of the empire.
“Wow” I mutter. From the hill the empire reached out to the far horizon, the colours of yellow, orange and red glistened in the sun, I could hear the sound of the music playing already. The tall statues surrounding the empire caught my eye the most.
“The status are barriers, if anyone forces through it will sound out an alarm and the knights will be dispatched” he comments, as we got closer to the city I noticed a small entryway where guards were stationed up. They were dancing and fooling around at first but as soon as they saw the disgusted eyes of Aenon staring at them they moved back into their positions.
“Greetings Princess Amaris, we hope you have a wonderful time in the city” they all comment while bowing towards me.
‘They must all really respect the emperor”
As we gained access through the opening the subtle smell of cinnamon hit my nose, I looked around and heard the sound of trickling water, which made me notice a long stream was running through the entire city. I listened as children’s laughs filled my ears and peoples singing echoed through me.
“We’re going to head to the circle and we can decide where to move from there” Aenon orders his men and the carriage driver.
As we continued to ride through the streets began to get busier, more people were moving, shopping and even dancing.
“Is that princess Amaris?”
“Where! Oh wow it is”
“She’s even more beautiful than they say”
I heard the whispers surrounding me but I didn’t mind, it was all good things and Aenon was here to protect me. We all approached a massive plaza which was filled with people selling all kinds of things on the market. In the Center was a huge statue of the Emperor which many people stopped to pray towards.
Now as we made our stop, Aenon jumped off first before helping me down. I looked around in amazement, this empire was thriving. There were so many people shopping, laughing, drinking and enjoying the time in the city.
“Princess where too first?” Olive asks while grasping my hand, I thought about it for a second but as I was unaware of this empire I needed direction.
“Aenon, I’m looking for a place that sells magical items” I ask, this makes him cock his head and smirk before answering.
“Princess, are you buying a gift for someone?” he teased me while poking my cheek. In response I scowl and look away from his direction.
“There’s a pretty good shop up the road, I heard about it from the other servants” Olive replied to my questions instead, I nodded my head and decided that's where we will head first. I made sure Mura was following behind us which he was.
As we walked through the large plaza, I looked at all the different kinds of foods and items you can purchase. Everyone was so welcoming to me and was happy to meet the princess. It’s an exhausting life but I’m happy I’ve made them smile.
We approached a small shop at the end of the street, it looked dark and didn’t even look as if it was open. I peered through the window and jumped to the point of falling over because a woman's face scared me.
“Princess are you okay!” Olive speaks while helping me up.
“Do you know who you just scared!” Aenon commented while opening the door to the shop, the woman standing there was quite old and fragile, I didn’t want Aenon to scare her to death.
“Aenon, it’s okay, I’d like to go in, is it okay to wait out front for me?” I pleaded towards him while giving him puppy dog eyes. For some reason the presence of this woman made me want to speak to her alone.
