It’s been a few days since Meena entered the castle, the Emperor heard about what happened and agreed to give her shelter, but only if she proved herself and worked hard. Luckily Cove (Ordells best friend) was half demon so he could teach her things such as, fighting, other combat skills and even using her demon power.
These past days she seems a bit brighter which has made me happy.
Finally today is when Chance is visiting. I'm really excited because his gift was delivered early in the morning.
‘It’s so beautiful’
I looked as I stared at the beautiful shiny sword with the vibrant lava stone embedded into it.
‘I cannot wait to see what shape it takes when Chance holds it’
As I walked to the front entrance I waited impatiently for him to arrive.
“Waiting for your boyfriend” Fumika teased as she pinched my cheek, I winced at the touch.
“Stop it, he’s a good friend. Something you wouldn’t know about” I mumbled which caused her to chuckle.
“Your funny Amaris. Maybe I should tell Chance I like him, he’s the same age as me, unlike the four year difference between you two” she winks before taking a seat next to me.
“It’s actually three years and 2 months thankyou” I mutter while spacing out at the boring scene in front of me.
“You're so boring sometimes, maybe we should train together when you can handle yourself a bit more” she grinned before jumping up and walking back inside. Although we live in the same castle, we all have many study lessons and training practices so we barely see each other.
‘It would be nice to do something as a family’
My eyes sprung open as I heard the gate doors clatter open and I watched the royal West empires carriage enter.
‘He’s finally here’
I jumped up and ran over towards the carriage which was coming to a halt. I waited for the door to open for a while which made me cock my head.
‘Why isn’t he answering the door’
I heard the sound of a quiet commotion happening in the carriage before someone finally opened the door. As I looked I noticed Heru was exiting while rubbing his head.
“Greetings princess” he bowed before giving me a concerned look.
“Is everything okay?” I ask with worry.
“Everything's fine, Chance is being shy” he smiles brightly like always, patting my head as he walks inside the castle.
As I peek inside the carriage I notice Chance had a blanket draped over him, it made me chuckle that he was still so shy.
“Chance, are you really going to greet me this way?” I ask with a saddened voice.
“I’m sorry Amaris” he comments, his voice croaks as he replies which sends a nervous shiver down my spine.
Unhappy with the way he’s acting I reached for the cover and threw it over my head. Now under the darkness I moved closer till I was next to him.
“What’s wrong?” I ask while moving closer to him, I felt him tense up but not move away.
‘Not responding huh?’
I decided to fling the blanket off both of us which resulted in us being exposed to the bright sun. Looking down I noticed he had his knees to his chest and was hiding his face.
“Chance look at me” I ordered in a tone that shouldn’t be produced by a four year old, he shook his head which made me even more concerned.
“Fine then I’m not friends with you” I huffed and turned away as if to get out of the carriage, but surprisingly I felt a small hand wrap around my arm.
“Please don’t leave” he whispers. As I turned back around I noticed he finally lifted his face and that’s what shocked me. He had a bruised eye and a small cut on his lip. This sent a rage down in my stomach.
“Who did this?” I ask with a stern voice, I watch as he hesitates to answer.
‘It wouldn’t have been Heru… maybe no could it be? Sky’
‘Bastard’
“It’s okay you don’t have to tell me, just promise me the next time something like this happens you will fight back” I smile while placing my small hand on his head. His eyes sparkle at my words and a little smile appears.
“I promise” he replies.
….
As we settled down after a busy day of playing, talking and learning we finally decided to settle down for the night.
“Chance, can I sleep with you tonight?” I ask in a soft voice. The reason I wanted to stay with him was not for my benefit but for him, I knew he was going through something at his palace and I wanted to show him I will always be here.
“Erm Erm… princess.. that’s..” he stuttered as his face began to shine red. I giggled at his awkwardness before I dragged him into his room and finally settled into the bed.
“Come on, I have something to show you!” I smiled brightly while patting the bed. He awkwardly made his way over and settled down beside me.
As we sat up I pulled from my small bag I bought, my cards. Opening the box and spreading them out I watch Chance’s face look at them in confusion.
“These cards here are the whispers of spirits” I whispered as I placed his hands to hover over them.
“Close your eyes and think about your energy entering the cards. Make sure you breathe and stay calm” I spoke softly while letting go of his hands, he nodded and followed my words.
I watched as Chance breathed softly and slowly saw his hands stop shaking, which was common for when he was overwhelmed. Looking at the cards I noticed a red aura start to shine around them, it was beautiful.
Seeing four cards left in front of us I tapped his shoulder to let him know to stop.
“Okay let’s see what they say” I smiled brightly towards his confused face.
As I turned the first card over I read out.
“Strength in revered”
Injecting my energy I watched as the words formed on the card.
“This card implies vulnerability, weakness, low self esteem” I commented which made Chance’s face sadden, all though he knew this already it was horrible to hear it from my mouth too.
Turning over the next card I read out.
“The wheel of fortune. This card implies good luck, destiny and soulmates” I smiled towards his face which seemed to have brightened up at my words. Now the third card.
“The ace of swords. This implies, new ideas/plans/beginnings, success and right decision” I giggled as I looked at his face brighten up even more.
“What do these cards mean, Amaris?” He asks while admiring them.
“I’m not too sure how to read them properly yet but I wanted to see how well I could do” I huffed as I finally turned over the last card. I watched as The Emperor card showed up which made me flinch.
“The Emperor, it implies fatherhood, structure and authority” I whisper as I finally lay out the last card.
‘I wonder what this all means’
I looked to the side and noticed Chance was now slowly falling asleep which made me laugh. I decided to pack my things away and put them down for the night. As I laid our heads down I watched how his face shines in the moonlight.
His long eyelashes were dark and beautiful and when he was relaxed and was not worrying about everything he looked so peaceful. I carried on staring without realising my heart beated a little faster than usual.
