Jax's POV
I was about to kill a child.
Carter was fronting with our boyfriends and dealing with moving in slow motion, which left me to deal with Bram.
I'll be the first to admit that he had definitely mellowed out these past few days but he was still a lot. I mean, he wasn't broadcasting anymore and he hasn't touched Carter or me since then but he still accidently fronted from time to time when something loud happened or when someone yelled. I would still take that over how he was before any day of the week though.
He was currently running around the front room like a mad man and laughing like a psychopath for some reason while I tried to block him out and watch the movie Carter was staring at.
I only last a few more minutes before my patience is wearing thin.
I was just about to say something when Bram stopped in his tracks, making me sigh in relief for only a split second before Bram started talking.
'Who are you,' he mumbled out as he started inching closer to me.
That question had me on edge.
Carter was up front, he knew who I was, and no one else was here. He shouldn't be asking that question at all.
I swear to god if he was just trying to scare me or something I was going to throw him against a wall.
I can't help but give out a sigh as I looked over my shoulder.
My eyes went wide when I noticed a girl standing in the doorway.
She was only a little shorter than me, had long light blue hair, about as tan as Callum, with bright green eyes.
'Uh hi,' I force out as I try to contain my small glare.
'Hi,' she said back cheerily as she moved closer to the couch making Bram shrink farther back until she sat herself on the far end of the couch while Bram circled back around to come behind me.
Her eyes set on the screen as if she didn't just pop in here out of nowhere.
'Do you know her,' Bram whispered as he glared at her.
'Does it look like I know her," I asked rhetorically as I looked back to the girl. 'Who are you?'
'Kyra.'
'Uh huh and what are you doing here?'
'I'm here to help keep Bram company when he's not up front and to help anyone else if they need it.'
What's going on back there, Carter asked suspiciously but before I had a chance to say anything, Kyra was already talking.
'Jax and Bram are just a little confused,' she said with a smile.
Who is that?
'That would be Kyra. She's our new alter.' Carter huffed at that.
What's your role?
'Caretaker and internal helper; I'll help by taking care of everything in the inner world.'
'Is that a good thing,' Bram asked as he eased closer to her.
It's not good or bad. Carter said with a small shrug. It's better than I thought it would be though so I'll take it.
'It's not like you have much of a choice,' Kyra joked, making Carter's frown deepen as he turned back to the movie.
It only took a matter of minutes for Bram to go back to running around and talking Carter's ear off about how cool Kyra seemed. I could practically feel Carter ready to explode.
'Bram,' Kyra said quickly before Carter had the chance to do anything. 'Why don't you show me around the house? Then maybe we can take a walk around the woods.'
'But don't I need to stay here in case Carter needs me? I'm the verbal protector,' he said that last part full of pride.
'That's a pretty big job,' Kyra said as she stood up. 'I bet it's a pretty hard to keep up with all of work you have to do. Can't you take a little break?'
Bram frowned as he looked up to the screen again before looking back at Kyra.
'Only for a few minutes,' he decided as he began walking towards the door.
Thank you, Carter whispered, making Kyra smile as she followed behind the youngest of all of us. You've been replaced, he said after a while; she's my new favorite.
Ryder's POV
I honestly didn't mind the bookstore job. Not a lot of ripped guys read and those did didn't really seem like a threat, if anything they were nice enough.
And the money was pretty good too. I'd be able to pay the medical bill in only another week, which was a huge relief. I would even have a little bit left over to help with the others with bills.
I was honestly pretty happy with everything that was happening.
"I want you guys to meet James," Liam says out of nowhere. We had all been cuddling on the couch for the past several hours in mostly silence and now he wants to talk; right when I was ready to go to sleep.
I didn't want to say that though because he seemed pretty nervous about it for some reason.
"Well we would love to meet him," Carter said before yawning. "Our next off day is tomorrow unless he needs us to do it some other day."
"I'm off tomorrow too," Callum said as he rubbed his eyes.
"I work 11-4 tomorrow but we could have dinner or something."
"If we're doing dinner then we're going out to eat. I'm not cooking for someone I don't know," Carter declared.
"Should we be flattered that you cook for us," Liam teased as he leaned in closer to his chest.
"You should be very flattered. I hate cooking."
"Well for someone who hates it, you are really good at it," Callum said with a small smile.
"We got off topic," I remind everyone.
"Right. Well I'll ask him tomorrow at work and I'll text the group chat as soon as I know."
"Don't you have his number or something, can't you ask him now?" Liam tensed at that for some reason.
"I don't have his number. He's a pretty private person." Carter must have picked up on Liam's weirdness because he glares at him a little as he hums at his answer.
"As long as you let us know before it gets too late," Carter said with a shrug but I could still tell Liam's answer was bothering him.
"You think I'm lying or something," Liam asked defensively, making Carter flinch back a little bit. I can't help but frown at that; it's been so long since he's flinched at any of us.
"I never said that," Carter said coldly as he stood up, making Liam fall until he caught himself. "I think I'm going to head to bed early."
"Babe wait, I didn't mean to make it sound like that."
"I know," Carter said, his voice just as cold as before. "I'm still going to bed."
The three of us only watch as he heads to the bedroom without another word.
"Fantastic," Liam sighed to himself as he rubs his face.
"He's just stressed with this new alter trying to appear," Callum reminded him. "And you're stressed too. Having two stressed hot heads in a room together is bound to have some draw backs when they are tired."
"What if I wanted to see Jem again," he asked before I had a chance to comfort him.
The two of us stay quiet as we tried to make sure we heard him correctly.
"Like, the same Jem who owned the gang you were in," Callum asked in a condescending tone; Liam only nodded. "I'd tell you that you are being stupid. Is that why you've been acting weird lately? Has he been trying to talk to you?"
"He hasn't done anything," he said tensely. "I was just wondering what you guys would say about it."
"I think you would need to ask Andrew first," I say after a few minutes, trying to give him the time to calm down first. "Even if Andrew said yes though, I'm not sure it would be a good idea."
"Why not? You think I'm going to go back an be a dealer for him again?"
"I think he would manipulate you into doing whatever the hell he wanted you to do," Callum said rudely, clearly starting to loose his patience for the night.
"Jem would never do that. He's the one who sent me to camp."
"He's also the one who made you deal in the first place. If it weren't for him, you wouldn't have had to go to camp at all."
"I'm the one who asked him to deal, not the other way around. Jem was just trying to help."
"Oh and look how well he helped," Callum said with a sarcastic smile. "Two years later and you still have panic attacks over him, not to mention the separation anxiety he gave you."
Liam was about to fire back something else when I forced myself to step in.
"Okay, let's all just calm down real quick. If Liam wants to see Jem, that's between him and Andrew first. I won't pretend like I think it's a good idea but from what we've heard of him, I don't think Jem would let Liam go back into shit like that again even if they did meet up eventually. But first things first, talk it over with Andrew and maybe consider having a mutual party there to make sure everything stays far."
Callum sighs as he stands up.
"I think I'm going to follow Carter's lead. I'll see you two in the morning."
"Great, now they're both made at me," Liam sighed as he blinked a few times, probably to keep the tears from building up.
"It's not like this is the first or last time," I assure as I bring him into m chest. "What's with all this talk about Jem all of a sudden?"
"I miss him."
"That's understandable, he was basically your brother, but you haven't talked about him almost at all in a year. You used to talk about him all the time when you first came to camp but since then, this is the first time."
"I just miss him. Life out here sucks. I forgot how bad it was while we were at camp but now that we're out here again, it's like I'm being thrown out all over again." I don't miss the way his voice cracks at the end.
It made sense.
He told Callum and me about how his parents taught him how to gamble since he was so good at reading people; even at such a young age.
Whenever he made a bad bet they kicked him out of the house until they needed more money.
Then how Jem found him and looked after him for all those years before throwing him at camp the first chance he got.
And now it felt like camp was doing the exact same thing. It had to sting.
"So I'm assuming you haven't asked Andrew yet?"
"No, I know he's not going to be happy with it. Not at first at least. I think I can convince him though."
"I still think a mutual party would be good. Just to make sure everyone feels like they are heard properly. I wouldn't mind sitting in if you need me to."
He says nothing as he looks up at me with tears in his eyes but he smiles regardless.
"I love you," he said as he blinked back the tears before leaving a kiss on my forehead.
"I love you more."
"That's literally impossible," he declared as he stood up and gathered me in his arms as he started walking to the bedroom. "You can't love me more than I love you."
"Oh believe me. It's overly possible."
