“What the fuck was that Jason?” Geri asked sounding as confused and shocked as I felt.
“I don’t even know… I’m so confused right now… We should probably ask Greg. I mean does your heart hurt like mine?” I asked out loud to Geri.
“Of course it does… but I was referring to the smack… why did you do that? You don’t even known John, and you went to his house, unannounced, and smack the shit out of him without even telling him what it was for. Does Theo even know you’re here?!” I could feel the scolding tone in Geri’s voice.
“Of course not. Why would I tell him I came to his ex-boyfriends house to get even with him for breaking his heart?”
“It’s not your place to get even for Theo’s broken heart. You don’t even know what happened. You hardly let him say anything this morning. All he said was that they broke up, not who broke up with, not why they broke up. I think you were a little out of line with that.”
“Are you seriously defending that man right now?” MY wolf should be on the SAME PAGE as ME but nooooooooooo, he just had to go and tell me I was in the wrong. Which is total shit, but at the same time, I couldn’t help but feel some level of agreement. Why though? I had been one hundred percent sure he deserved to be beat to shit, up until my hand actually collided with his face. Then all I felt was tremendous guilt. Which only intensified the second I made eye contact with him.
“Fuck.” I sighed. I pulled out my phone and called Greg. I explained what just happened in as much detail as I could. And this fucking doc started LAUGHING!
“You’re so clueless, kid. And apparently so is Geri.” He said between fits of laughter.
“What is that supposed to mean?” I asked, trying and failing to keep my anger cooled.
“It means you found your mate, dumbass. Or by the sounds of it, one of multiple mates. Which kudos to you on having multiple mates kid. It’s a real blessing from the Goddess.” He said, sounding genuine.
“MY WHAT?!” I gasped as I registered that he meant John was at least one of my mates. “There’s no way he’s MY mate! Alpha Theo said he thinks this person was HIS mate…”
“Well, that would mean Alpha Theo would be your other mate. So extra kudos. I suggest maybe trying to get the three of you in the same room so that Alpha Theo can get the full extent of his mating call. I would have to assume this mystery man is human, am I correct?”
“He is.” I said shortly.
“Well then I also suggest that you try to get that done tonight, and turn this poor man so that you may all feel your mating calls. It wouldn’t be fair to leave the human in the dark any longer than necessary.” I knew he was right, but it most definitely was not my place to tell John anything since I didn’t actually know the man.
“I should probably call Alpha Theo and
tell him then…” I said, sounding more than a little unenthusiastic about
it this turn of events. He was going to be so pissed at me.
“I will call him. It’s a matter of me being pack doctor and Alpha to Alpha business.” Greg explained. He was an Alpha too, but his Alpha traits are recessive, so he would never be able to become a pack Alpha. Theo was not only an Alpha in his secondary gender, but as the leader of our pack too.
“Okay. Then… I guess I should probably wait for him… please don’t tell him how I managed to find out about John being my mate… he’d never forgive me for hitting him…” I made sure he heard the desperation in my plead.
“Fine. But you will have to, or John will, which could be worse for everyone. Maybe you could go apologize to John now, before Alpha Theo gets there. Because I suspect he’ll be there in only a few short minutes.” After that, we said our bye’s and hung up the phone.
I paced back and forth at the line of woods across the street from John’s house for quite a few minutes, contemplating how I should even begin to approach him to apologize. I completely froze when I heard his front door open. I looked up from the ground to see that the other man, that was behind John earlier, had stepped out onto the porch. He stood there staring at me for a minute, then called for me to come to him. I only hesitated for a brief second, but made me way to the bottom step of John’s front porch. I didn’t know what to expect out of this situation, so I waited for this friend to make the first move.
“You Jason?” He asked, in a surprisingly deeper voice than he looks like he would have.
“I am.” I said quietly.
“There a reason you’re acting like a nervous wreck across the street from the house of the man you just unjustifiably smacked the shit out of?” He asked bluntly.
“Uh… No. Well yes. Yes.” I could tell I sounded nervous. Which I was.
“Well spit it out then.” He demanded. I dropped my gaze back to the ground, feeling like complete shit for what I did.
“I… well… I actually wanted to apologize. I know what I did was completely uncalled for. I don’t know what came over me. I acted without thinking. Which is made worse by the fact that Johnathan doesn’t even know who I am…” I trailed off before I started to ramble. I looked back up when I heard the door open again. John was standing slightly in front of his friend now. My eyes widened, and I felt my face flush with heat. The welt across his cheek that I caused nearly broke me down. It took a lot of effort to keep myself from letting the tears of regret spill over.
“Apology NOT accepted. And you can tell Theo that he is no longer welcome on my property because of his little bitch running his heart break errands for him.” He sneered. The pit of my stomach churned painfully as I winced away from his harsh words.
“I didn’t act on his behalf. He actually doesn’t even know I’m here, let alone that I even know where you live… but he is on his way here to explain something else…” I wasn’t sure I should have said that much. But as if on cue, Theo’s car pulled into John’s driveway. I could tell he was beyond pissed when he saw me here.
“What the fuck Jason?” He hissed out at me. At that moment his eyes shifted toward John, and he did a double take when he saw the welt on his cheek. “WHAT THE FUCK JASON?” He repeated, this time shouting while pointing at John.
“Both of you can take this bitch fight somewhere else. He’s not interested in whatever jealous rage is involved here. So leave now.” The friend stated.
“Who the fuck even are you?” I questioned, beginning to get annoyed at another mans intrusion to this issue.
“I’m John’s close friend. The one he confides in when that moron,” he gestured towards Theo, “does yet another thing to crush his heart. Who the fuck are YOU?” He whipped right back at me.
“He’s Theo’s bitch.” John said, words full of venom, without a second of hesitation, which really hurt my heart. I winced again. Theo caught the wince, and gave me a pointed glare. One that said ‘Fix the problem you caused NOW.’
“He is not my bitch, Johnathan, and you know that.” Theo said, surprisingly calmly.
“Oh that’s right. He’s just the prick that came to MY house, unannounced, to smack the ever living day lights out of me, only then to introduce himself as none other than Jason-fucking-Field. The ONLY man my life long love never shut the fuck up about. Not to mention that said life long love is my freshly-broken-up with ex-boyfriend, because of his lack of ability to share secrets with me.” His words held so much venom in them. Theo’s eyes were wide with shock.
“Secrets? What exactly do you mean?” Theo quickly jumped in.
“Wow. You really expect me to tell you your secret? How the fuck am I supposed to know what it is, when you never shared it with me? But you know what you did share? Most likely unwittingly?” he turned to quickly whisper something to his friend, which caused the friend to go inside. Then turned back to looked at Theo.
“I have no clue what you’re talking about John.”
“Yeah? Sure you don’t. I assume he knows about it. That’d be the only explanation as to why he seems to think he has more rights to have you.” Theo and I both froze. I could feel the tension build between them.
“He knows something, Jason. We should probably figure out what it is…” Geri chimed in.
“Get off my property before I say something I regret. And DO NOT come back.” John whipped around, and went back inside his house. “What a way to start my fucking birthday.” He mumbled as he stepped through the threshold. I stood there, even more stunned than I already was.
“It’s his birthday?” I asked in a quiet, sad tone. Theo sighed.
“God damn it, Jason. How are we going to fix this? You know we can’t live without him, and I will not accept you if you ruined our chances to be together with him.” Theo said, still painfully calm.
“I’m sorry Theo. I was just so angry that you were hurting, and I acted before I thought the whole thing through. The second I touched him, I knew I had just made a huge mistake. I mean I nearly broke down when I saw the welt I caused. I don’t know him hardly at all, I have no idea how I’m going to fix what I’ve done.”
“WE will work together. He is OUR mate, and we both screwed things up… granted you did a lot worse than I did… but we will work it out together.” Theo slowly walked up to the front door, but before knocking he turned to me. “You stay right there until I say.” Then he knocked on the door gently.
The friend answered the door. “Please let me talk to him? I promise you I wont do anything more than talk.” Theo sounded defeated, presumably from dealing with his heartache all night, only to come deal with this mess I caused.
***Most of my chapters will only be split in multiple parts so that they fit in the guidelines for Tapas. Doing this may cause some episodes so be signifcantly longer or shorter than others. It's unintentional on my part, but I hope you enjoy the story regardless!***
