Chapter 5: The Special girl.

Astrid’s eyes looked into Georges. His hands were on her waist, he slightly smiled at her.

“ George do you think it funny?” shouted Astrid pushing him away from her. George looked at her and burst into laughter. He tried not to laugh but couldn’t. “ Sorry, I was just kidding!” said George still trying hard to stop his laughter.

“ I told you to wait till 9, didn’t I?…wait Ass do you have a crush on me,” asked George sarcastically.

Just then Astrid realised it was past 7 and it is an two hour journey from her college to home.

“You are so playful George, I have to go now” said Astrid as she took her phone out of her pocket.

 “ 5 missed call from my mother” exclaimed Astrid. She asked to George “ Do you know where Kat is?” and left to look for her.

She moved through the crowd and her eyes met Kat and Neoul. Kat had her hands on Neouls waist and Neouls hands held the bouquet and rested on Kats shoulders, both their eyes were staring into each others. As the song played, they moved to the soft rhythm of it. They moved closer and hugged each other. Neoul saw Astrid searching for them, just then she too remembered that it was about time for Kat and Astrid to leave, so she slowly whispered in Kat’s ears “ Want to stay like this all night?”. Kat chuckled slowly and removed her head which was resting on Kat’s shoulder. she stared at Kats lips and replied “ What if my answer is Yes?” and kissed her lips softly. “ Perhaps try telling that to your friend ” whispered Neoul with a smile. Just then Kat remembered that she had promised to accompany Astrid. 

Neoul is a rational girl and loved both her friends equally but in a very different way. She removed herself from Kats tight hug. Astrid didn’t want to disturb them, so she quietly stood near the corner, trying not to stare at them. George accompanied Astrid. Kat and Neoul joined them.

 “Let’s leave?” asked Kat.

“You guys finished?” asked Astrid.

“ Yes! Astrid , but George where is your special girl?” asked Neoul looking at George.

“ Guys just wait till 9, okay?” said George proudly.

“ So are you guys going to wait here?” asked Kat.

“ Yes, Eva is still at the hostel and she might join us anytime so we are going to wait for her” replied Neoul.

“Okay! So we’ll leave” said Kat and Astrid as the waved bye and left.

Just then at the college corridor,  Eva entered the campus veranda with Richard. She wore a slim fit red dress with a slit on the side. Her blonde hair beautifully tied . she looked like an angel in a red dress.

They held each others hands and swayed it up and down in the air as they walked. They reached near the campus hall where the dance was conducted. “ I don’t think I can dance” said Eva with her hands on her hip. “ What ?? I was soft , wasn’t I?” asked Richard with a doubtful smile.

“ You call that soft? You have no idea how bad my body hurts” said Eva with an annoyed look.

“ Be thankful that you are able to walk ” said Richard holding Eva’s waist.

“ We were supposed to be here by 6 and now its past seven, you are the reason why we are late” said Eva smacking Richards shoulder.

“How am I the reason we are late?” asked Richard angrily.

“It took me one hour to cover all the hickeys with foundation and your telling me its not because of you?” asked Eva sarcastically.

Richard face turned red, his cheeks glowed and his ears turned pitch red as he chuckled slowly. Suddenly he pushed her to the wall and  kissed her. “ Since you cannot dance now, shall we continue what we were doing at the hostel?” whispered Richard as he licked Eva’s ears.

“ buddy boy, I still got to meet my friends remember?” said Eva with a sexy grin as she slowly pushed his body from her.

Richard stood there with a sad face as Eva walked towards the night club, she turned around and looked at his drooping face. With a smile on her face she slowly walked towards him and whispered “I will make it up to you tonight” said Eva as she kissed his lips tightly. Richard held her hand and they walked together towards the club. They entered and saw George and Neoul talking. “ Hey guys!” shouted Eva. She held Richards hands as she walked towards them. “ Hi Richard long time no see bro!” said George as he hugged him.

“ Doing good bro! how are you guys ?” asked Richard with a beautiful smile.

“We are good Richard, why are you guys late?” asked Neoul sweetly.  

“ Its because of Richard so never mind guys. Wait where are Kat and Astrid…shit they left?” asked Eva with a panicked face. And turned her head right and left in search of them.

“ sorry Eva but they left like 20 minutes ago” said Neoul in her sweet voice. Suddenly “ Is that a hickey on the back of your neck?” asked Neoul with an astonished face. Eva forgot to cover her hickey which was behind he neck and looked at Richard with an angry look “ You could have told me!” said Eva.

“ I didn’t notice it. I am sorry” said Richard with a panicked look.

“ That’s all right guys, everyone is drunk so no need to worry about it. But Eva I need the details” said Neoul with a cute smile and they both giggled.

“Guys I need to go to the restroom, it’s urgent,” said George and ran out of the party.

Richard was a senior physics student. Eva and Richard had been dating for more than a year. He studied in the same school as Eva and the other three. Kat knew him too as Eva introduced him to her.

Astrid had already received 8 missed calls from her mom. Astrid and Kat had already reached the parking. Just then Kat noticed something “ look over there, that’s Jin’s  girlfriend. Look how she is struggling to win that plastic green ring. So cheap,” said Kat.

“ Hey Kat! Its archery! Do you think I can win?” asked Astrid with an excited face.

Astrid learnt archery when she was 7 years old. It was her grandmother’s favourite sport and she taught it to Astrid.  

“It’s obvious you will win. Look at her she holding the bow upside down. Go you can do it” said Kat patting Astrid’s shoulder with a smile.

Astrid went  there, the game was set up at the parking . It was few meters away from her car was parked. Astrid went towards them . Jins friends were trying but nobody was able to hit the bullseye. The place was very crowded, they were curious to see who would hit the bulls eye. Students went to the token counter, paid  cash and received the token. Then the token guy will give the student a bow and an arrow. The student’s were given one chance to hit the bullseye. Astrid went to the front table to pay for the token. The guy standing there at the token centre wore a cap and his eyes were not seen, he had a mark on his neck. She received the token. The guy gave her an plastic bow and a bent arrows. Jins friends stood there claiming that she could never win. Astrid was never good at anything except for archery.  The arrow that was given to her was bent, it did not stand between the arrow rest and nocking point. When she tried to pull the bowstring the arrow fell down. The entire crowd laughed except for Jin and Kat. Kat stood there scowling with anger. Suddenly the laughter stopped the token guy shouted “ The winner!!” as he shook the bell which he had in his hand. Kat went forward and gave Astrid a big hug. The entire crowd except for Jins group cheered her. Jin gave her a warm smile and left. The token guy gave her the gift. She opened it and looked at two green rings shining brightly. It did not look like some cheap stuff. Astrid loved it. “Kat, I guess you should have the other one and… thank you for supporting me” said Astrid giving her the other ring with a gracious smile.

“ You won it, you should have both  the rings though it looks really beautiful. But I will borrow it from you whenever I’ll need it, okay?” asked Kat with a smile.

“Okay!!” said Astrid as they walked towards their car.

It was nearly 8 and everyone at the night club were tired from dancing and the crowd gradually reduced. Eva did not dance and Neoul and Richard who were the only one dancing. Then suddenly Eva remembered “ Guys where is George?”. Neoul and  Richard approached her “ He should be with his crush now” said Neoul with a dreamy smile.

“Should we go look for him?” asked Richard. And they left to look for him but were not able to find him.

“ Guys I need to go to the restroom”, said Eva. So they walked to the restroom. Richard went to the men’s room and Neoul stood near the corridor. Then unexpectedly she caught sight of someone sitting on the top of the stairs which led to the terrace. It was pitch dark so she was not able to see who that was. She moved closer to look who the person was and to her surprise that was George.

“ George, what are you doing here? We were searching for you!” said Neoul rushing towards him. She went and sat down with him. George did not open his mouth, Neoul understood that there was something wrong. Just then Eva and Richard came out of the restroom. Then suddenly Neoul remembered

“ George it’s going to be 9 in twenty minutes, where is your crush?” asked Neoul with a smile. George did not reply but instead, his eyes answered. Neoul noticed his eyes were fixed on Eva who was talking to Richard, his eyes were filled with tears. Suddenly Neoul understood everything. She thought to herself “So its Eva who he is in love with?”.
