Dinner was quiet and I felt like I was eating in a ghost town. When I was finished I went to my room ang got ready for bed. As I lied there in the dark I thought about all the things Riku and I had been through together. It was weird to think about in the past tense like it wasn't going to happen anymore. The thought of us not making any new memories was frightening.
It had always been us against the world, and now it just seemed like I was by myself. I tossed and turned for hours until I decided that this was not going to be the way things were between us. I got up out of bed and ran down the hall. I barged into his office and he wasn't there. I darted back out and down the hall to his bedroom. I walked in and the door flew open. I stood there in the doorway catching my breath as he sat up confused and worried.
He rubbed his eyes as he looked at my silhouette that was outlined by the hallway light beaming into the dark room. “What are you doing?” He asked as his eyes adjusted to the light. “Get over it!” I said, stepping further into the room. “Excuse me?” He asked. His tone shifted from concerned to a bit irritated. “I know you're mad but I need you to get over it. I need my best friend back.” I said as I walked a bit closer to his bed. “I told you-.” “NO! I love you too!” I said as I leapt onto his bed. He was shocked at my sudden movement. “What?” He asked in shock looking at me, stretched out on top of him like a 5 year old.
“If you're joking it's very unbecoming of a -” Smooche, right in the middle of his forehead. “What?” “Mhmm, yep love you.” I said moving next to him. “Why my forehead?” He asked as if it made him forget about all the other things he was trying to say. “Because forehead kisses show a higher level of respect in a relationship. They also show affection without making it purely sexual. You're welcome.” I said as I got off the bed and started walking towards the door.
“Where are you going?” He asked as he sat up a bit more. “I said what I wanted to say, we can deal with it when the sun comes up. It's the middle of the night and I'm going back to bed.” I said as I went back to the door. Just as I was about to walk through the door Riku grabbed me around my waist and turned me to face him. “Can I help you?” I asked in a somewhat cocky tone. “As a matter of fact you can.” He said as he turned around and started to walk me back to his bed. “Riku-” “You're staying with me tonight.” I Stopped walking about 4 feet from the bed.
“No, I have a perfectly fine room to go back to besides you wake up earlier than I do so.” He stood there for a moment then turned to face me, my hand still in his. “Let me rephrase.” He said as he pulled me in and kissed me all in one swift motion. The kiss was soft and passionate, not as lust filled as our last and this time it was definitely over to soon. “You're staying with me tonight.” He repeated and we both got into his bed. It was weird having someone next to me for once but it was a good kind of weird. I liked it. I fell asleep no problem but I knew Riku had stayed up just to watch me sleep for a while.
