Ciara wore a short sleeved black shirt under a white lab coat which she stole from the doctor, some surgical mask and a hair tie to hold back wavy silver hair and provided necesary cover for her to run from a hospital.
She settled with that, for now. Without further thought, Ciara walked without minding the people and she activated her ability as she hated being the centre of attention.
She didn't talk much, never had really and she'd take reading a book rather than playing friends to some stranger she barely know.
In fact, Ciara liked living like this. Food has become easy using her ability and sleeping in the hotel or mall was convenient by sneaking inside.
The girl was taller and a bit on the skinny side with a love for some quiet and peaceful life with few friends on her side. Maybe being richer if she could be. Which she didn't. But who cares? So long as she wasn't being abused or abandoned, that's fine with her.
While she might not have been sent to orphanage or social services, she was considered an orphan, without mother and father by her side, which made her difficult to survive without using her ability. Not that she liked doing crime, it was impossible not to do petty ones like stealing or breaking into some places. But her point still stood. If it just to survive, it didn't really count.
That's what she thought at first, though one of the detectives from SIU caught her doing it and followed her since then which made her run far away.
Ciara hadn't joined Liam and Toru until Nadya had saved her. A hard-kick to the head from Nadya later and the detective fainted, without as much of a fight. Ciara had told her about what her life had entailed, seemingly trusted Nadya with her secret.
There was another thing that made Ciara weird.
She asked for a place to stay.
Usually everyone felt gratitude when they were being helped but there had been none of that. She only asked her to stay in her house for awhile and leaving Nadya without much of a choice but asking Liam and Toru.
Of course, there had been nothing but a silence, blank faces and gaping mouths as the two girls faced the two boys. It had all been very dramatic and yet very reasonable reaction since it was a weird question to ask because they were a strangers and not much is known to each other. No trust, only a baseless story were exchanged from Ciara to Nadya and the two boys.
So, because it is Toru's house, Liam decided to leave the decision on his hand.
"Uh, I don't know." Toru anxiously replied. Nadya sensed the boy, reluctant to accept the girl into his house, made her convince him as she believed her story and she will be the one to monitor her and provided her with money after she found another house and a new identity for her.
And that's the end of the decision.
"O-Okay, if you say so."
He decided to trust Nadya's judgement than the girl. He was also weird for trusting her but maybe that was alright since it was just temporary.
But, the word 'temporary' seems to work a little bit differently. Or probably more than that.
"Toru!" He startled at the loud voice of his friend.
"Huh?"
"Ciara was just saying how she's excited for the new year."
Toru nearly let out a long-suffering groan. New year. It's been half a year since Ciara moved to his house or rather she had never moved out ever since she stepped foot to his house.
If anyone asked him why, he didn't know. But, the two opposite of a person wasn't anyone. They knew exactly why and yet they pretended not knowing as the house was filled with the laughter of Ciara and happiness from the pair of Liam and Nadya.
For Toru, it was the most dreadful time filled with stress and anxiety, noise and too many people in too little space, meaningless conversations filled with niceties and –
"Are you alright, Toru?" Liam asked.
"Yeah sure," Toru said, hoping that it was a fitting reply to whatever had been said before. Judging by his friend's suspicious face, it wasn't, he didn't press the matter any further though but instead said talking to Ciara.
Anyway, after explaining the plan for the new year party which was obviously ignored by Toru, they went out to buy groceries with Toru in his house waving goodbye to them.
To be honest, Toru grew tired of them doing whatever things they want. He felt suffocated despite his acceptance, moaning in frustration until his face had turned pale and dishevelled hair.
Not to mention, Riley was following him around ever since they met at school until he got tired and letting her do whatever she wants.
The recruitment of SIU as officer seemed appealing to his current situation than sitting idly by his computer learning a lesson which bored him out of his mind.
He already read about it in poster and to be one he would be an enemy of the strays, especially his friends. He can't do that but still, he felt stifled being with Liam and Nadya right now since Ciara joined. He didn't feel like belonging anywhere between them.
"Why?" That's the only question stuck to his mind.
It takes one girl to make him this way. Did he become possesive of his friends? Or is it not the case? It's confusing, he needed to get out of here.
So, he packed his things along with simple suitcase and leave a note for his friends when they came back later.
"I needed to take care a few things, so don't come look for me. Toru."
That's when they realized, they made a mistake.
