Andrea walked into the bathroom early in the morning, to take a warm shower before she had to go to her school to apply for a job. She felt the nervousness creep in even when she tried to convince herself that it would be okay.
Yawning a little, she took off her clothes without looking down at herself.
It had become second nature to her since she had been showering herself in her father’s body. It was extremely weird at first but things started to change as she learnt how to shower with her eyes closed.
This time, however, as soon as she got in the shower, something caught her attention. A little something that was on her left shower. She gasped as she saw that a part of the snowflake tattoo wasn’t there anymore. There were only three parts of it now.
She tried to reach the tattoo but failed miserably and ended up falling on her ass, which hurt her old self. “Ugh, just when he hurts himself does his body remember it’s old.”
She whined to herself before she got up to quickly shower and then go tell Lisa about this.
Now, that she and Michael were on better terms than before, she decided to even tell her father about this weird tattoo on her shoulder and his.
It had only taken her a while to shower completely and to dress herself in normal attire. Since, she wasn’t going to a smart-ass company anymore, she could dress herself a little easier.
Smirking to herself, she raided her father’s closet just to try to find some boots or even sneakers; anything but dress shoes.
She was happy when she found a pair of sneakers hidden away in the back of his shoe racks.
Quickly wearing the pair of sneakers, she smiled at her reflection before leaving the closet and the room altogether.
“Lisa!” She called out to her sister even before she had reached her room. “Lisa, there’s something I have to tell you.”
“We’re in the bathroom!” Andrea frowned as she walked to the hallway bathroom. “What are you doing in there, there’s a perfectly working bathroom in your own room.”
“I’m bathing you.” Andrea slapped her forehead as she felt her pride hurt a little more. This was still so embarrassing to her.
“Uh, okay, just do that quickly. I have to tell you something.”
“Does that also concern me?” Michael called out which got an eye roll from Andrea. “Yeah.”
“Well, I have to tell you something too.” Lisa called out as Andrea put her ear to the hallway bathroom door, to hear better.
“What is it?”
“It’s about that tattoo you have on your shoulder.”
“Tattoo! What tattoo!?” Andrea slapped her forehead as she heard her own frantic voice. “Just come out of there soon so I can explain better.”
And that’s what Lisa did. She washed her older sister quickly which had become quite fun for her since it always hurt both her father and her sister’s pride.
They were all in the kitchen now, as Michael cooked some pancakes; a little upgrade from scrambled eggs.
“So, would you mind telling me about that tattoo now?” Michael mentioned as he looked back at Andrea, who was sitting on the counter looking at her father’s resumé.
It was something that was necessary to get a job.
“Well, you have the same tattoo as well.” Michael had to pause whatever he was doing to look back at himself. Andrea smirked as she nodded her head.
“And according to what Lisa said, we both have the same tattoo on one side of our shoulders. Mine is on the right, while yours is on the left.”
Lisa chimed in as she looked at her sister. “There was one part of it gone today, just like on your body.”
Michael shook his head before he squinted his eyes at both his youngest daughter and himself. “When did you both notice this?”
Andrea and Lisa glanced at each other before they shrugged. Michael sighed in annoyance before he grabbed Andrea’s phone. “I’m going to call Merida and ask what is up with the tattoos.”
“Oh yeah, ask the witch.” Michael threw a glare at himself as Andrea rolled her eyes. “A witch?” Lisa asked as she looked at her father.
“Yeah, the place where dad got that snow-globe for you. It’s run by a witch.”
“She’s not a witch.”
Michael was ignored as Andrea continued. “And she tried to fix the snow-globe but couldn’t. Said something about your wish not coming true. She said that once your wish comes true, the snow-globe would magically fix itself and we’ll go back to normal.” Andrea ended with an eye roll since she still didn’t believe that mumbo gumbo.
“I believe that woman, and so should you. She was the only one that could tell we were in each other’s bodies.” Michael spoke up as he kept the phone to his ear, before putting it on loudspeaker.
Andrea rolled her eyes again as she looked at Lisa. “In my defense, we were being hella obvious. She was bound to know that we were each other.”
There were slight rings from the phone that caused Andrea to silence herself as Michael waited for Merida to pick up.
Only after three more rings did the woman pick up.
“Hello?”
“Hey, Merida, it’s me Michael. I came to see you with my daughter, Andrea.”
There was a pause before Merida spoke up again, “Oh yeah, that weird old man and that nice young lady.”
Andrea frowned since she didn’t know if she should take offense from that or feel complimented.
“What do you want?”
“Wow, getting straight to business.” Andrea folded her arms as Michael gave her a glare.
“We just wanted to ask you about a certain tattoo that’s on our bodies. It’s a snowflake and recently, one part of it magically disappeared.”
There was another pause before Merida spoke unsurely, “A snowflake tattoo? That’s weird. That’s never happened before.”
“And neither did this, but look where we are now.” Michael threw Andrea another glare which just made her frown.
“It’s always nice to hear your daughter’s comments. Makes me still feel alive and kicking, but I sometimes do feel like kicking her a little too.”
Andrea rolled her eyes as Lisa giggled.
“I’ll look for some kind of markings in the books, maybe there’s something about that in there.”
“Thanks, Merida.” Michael smiled as Merida sighed on the other line. “It’s just because of your niceness that I’m willing to do this or else I would’ve enjoyed your daughter suffer as an old man.”
Michael was the one that kept getting hurt by being called an old man as he cut off the call after saying goodbye.
“So, the witch doesn’t know anything either, great.” Michael sighed before he plated the pancakes that were done.
“Lets just eat and then go to school.”
Andrea nodded her head as she looked down at her resumé with a sigh.
Surely, this was going to be a little harder than she thought.
………………………………………………
“Hi, I called you yesterday for that P.E. teacher’s position.” The receptionist looked up from her computer to find a man in her mid-40s. “I’m Michael Hanning.”
There were a few seconds of silence before the receptionist began to function again as she typed away at her computer.
“Oh yes, I have your call here in the directory. Your meeting with the principal will only be in a few minutes, why don’t you wait there till then.”
Andrea nodded her head as she went to sit down at the waiting area. It was a small space where she had never sat at even when she had done a lot of stupid stuff.
There was this one time when she had pranked a teacher by putting white glue on top of his sandwich. He had eaten it thinking it was mayonnaise.
Hah, good times. Andrea smiled to herself before she was brought back to the bitter reality where she was a grown man that needed a job.
“The principal will see you now.” Andrea nodded her head before she walked over to the direction where the receptionist was pointing at.
This was the first time for her to go to the principal’s office and to say that she was nervous would be an understatement.
Andrea walked over to the door that read ‘Principal’s Office’ in bold letters. It creeped her out but then again, she had to do this.
Knocking on the door, Andrea waited for a response that came only a minute later. “Come in.”
Opening the door, Andrea walked inside before closing the door behind her. She looked at the woman sitting behind the large desk, wearing a pair of glasses that really suited her heart-shaped face.
If Andrea wasn’t so in love with someone else, she would’ve really fallen for this woman right there, since she was so her type.
Ew, that sounds so weird.
“I was waiting for you, Mr. Hanning. It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”
Andrea frowned as she looked at the woman that was now smirking. She got up from her seat behind the desk to walk around it.
“I refuse to believe that you don’t remember me.”
Andrea had no idea what was happening as she kept frowning. “Am I supposed to know you?”
The woman kept staring at the man in front of her, hoping to see some kind of recognition in his eyes, but she saw nothing.
“You seriously don’t remember me?”
Andrea just shook her head.
“I’m Jessica. Jessica Garfield. We used to be in college together.” Andrea sighed as she nodded her head. “Oh yeah, yeah, I remember you.”
“You really don’t, right?”
“Yeah, I’m sorry.” Andrea looked at the woman with an apologetic smile as the woman sighed in annoyance and a little disappointment. “Yeah, that’s what I expected.”
“Oh, don’t take it to heart. I just had a small accident a few days earlier. I lost a few of my memories, maybe that’s why I don’t remember you.”
Jessica squinted her eyes at the man before she nodded her head, “Well, you wouldn’t have either way. I was a very shy girl back then.”
“Well, you don’t seem so shy now.” Jessica frowned as Andrea placed a hand over her mouth. She couldn’t help herself from blurting that out.
“Anyway, you were the football team captain and I just minded my own business.” Andrea raised an eyebrow as she folded her arms in front of her chest. “For someone that minded her own business, you sure remember a lot about me.”
Jessica blushed as she shook her head frantically, before nervously explaining herself. “It isn’t like that. You were just really popular.” Andrea nodded her head with a smirk as she looked at Jessica, who blushed just from the way she was being looked at.
“Why are you staring at me like that?”
Andrea, confused by what she had done now, raised an eyebrow. “Staring like what?”
“Like you’re flirting with me.”
That was a bold accusation but Andrea just smirked at the woman’s confidence. “You think I’m flirting with you?”
“Well, aren’t you? You’re looking at me with those soft eyes.” Andrea let out a laugh as she looked at the woman with disbelief.
“You sure do have a colorful way of looking at things, Ms. Jessica.”
Jessica blushed again before she looked down at her desk. Clearing her throat, she grabbed the resumé sat on her desk.
“So, I heard you wanted to apply for the P.E teacher position.” Andrea nodded her head as she clasped her hands behind her back. “Yeah, because technically I like to exercise.”
“I can tell.” Andrea tried very hard to dismiss the bold comment as she scratched her nape, while Jessica blushed with a frown on her face. “I’m sorry I’m being inappropriate. Your wife wouldn’t appreciate me flirting with you like this.”
Andrea looked down as she was reminded of her mother, before she shook her head. “Uh, no, my mo—wife passed away a few years ago.”
Jessica gave the man a small apologetic smile as she came over to pat his shoulder. Andrea looked at what Jessica was even doing before she frowned. “Don’t you have a husband to care about?”
Blushing hard, Jessica took away her hand and brought a distance between the two before replying, “I’m not married.”
Andrea smirked as she wondered how lucky her father was to have the principal crushing on him, and for her to be someone he studied with back in college.
Clearing her throat, Andrea decided to play the professional card. “Uh, so about the job?”
It was as if Jessica was reminded that she was a principal and not a teenage girl, as she shook her head before nodding. “Yes, I read your resumé and I’m impressed that you have a teaching license even when you had a committed job as an accountant.”
Andrea smiled as she nodded her head.
“What made you quit?” Jessica asked as she looked up from the file she was holding, which held Michael Hanning’s information.
“I hated working in that box. It was so depressing.” Jessica raised an eyebrow before she smiled with a shake of her head. “What?” Andrea asked up as she looked at the woman’s mysterious smile.
“Nothing.” Jessica spoke up as Andrea frowned. Looking at the man frown in front of her, Jessica spoke up. “It’s just that I remember you being a push-over. Sure, you were popular and smart, but you were always someone that didn’t stand up for what you wanted.”
Andrea frowned as she watched Jessica look at her.
“It’s weird looking at you now. You’ve changed so much.”
“I wish I could say the same to you.” Jessica smiled as she placed the file back on her desk. “I see you’re still charming.”
Raising an eyebrow in question, Andrea looked at Jessica walk a little closer to her. “So, when would you like to start as the P.E teacher?”
“Are you giving me this job because of my resumé or because you want me to work here?”
It was as if Andrea had hit the mark as she saw Jessica falter in her advance with a blush on her face. “I won’t give anyone a job just for personal reasons.”
Andrea smirked before she nodded her head. “I’m sorry for assuming, and I’d like to work from right now, if that’s okay with you.”
Jessica frowned as she nodded her head. “Uh, that’s okay, but you don’t have to start so soon.”
Shrugging her shoulders, Andrea just smiled, “I just like to start as soon as I can.”
