"Anyways, Subject 002 isn't your name. You've left behind that place so you should leave behind that label."
"….."
Silence filled the room. Charlotte sighs and leaves the room.
Minutes
later, Charlotte returns with a set of new clothes and a black cloak.
"Change into this before you leave." She said as she pushed the
clothes into him. Subject 002 did not react much.
"Put on the cloak so you can hide your dagger. It'll be troublesome if people saw that when you leave my house."
Subject 002 glanced at the clothing that Charlotte gave to him. He nodded his head to express his gratitude. However, Charlotte was still concerned.
"Blade."
Subject 002's eyes widened and he looked at Charlotte. She had a sad smile. One that looked like she pitied me and was her way of saying goodbye.
"Your name is Blade."
Tears began to fall down Blade's face. They flooded down endlessly. For the first time in years, he was crying. He didn't cry when he was beaten or had unknown substances injected into him. Charlotte patted Blade's trembling back and comforted him.
"You did great, Blade."
* * *
After Blade had calmed down, he changed into the clothes Charlotte gave to him. He hid his dagger on the side of his hip, underneath his cloak. He bowed his head to thank Charlotte for everything she had done for him.
"Thank you for everything."
"No, no. Please lift your head."
Blade kept his head down to show the respect he had developed for her during the short time he had spent with her. Charlotte sighed.
"Whatever path you decide to go down, I hope it will make you happy."
Blade's eyes darken. The path he had chosen was full of bloodshed and death. It was fitting for his name.
He lifted his head and smiled at Charlotte. Blade replied, "Thank you. I'll get going now."
Blade turned and exited the house. As he ran alongside the path, doubts began to grow in his head.
'Will I be able to be happy after I've stained my hands with hundreds of people's blood?'
*THUMP THUMP*
The forest was quiet. All Blade could hear was the sound of his running. His thoughts began to get darker and darker.
'No. Would I even be allowed to be happy?'
