The first time Liam received a text from his parents was many years ago, he didn't expect anything but resentment for them. After all, they always texted him whenever they came home to check up on him for a day then went back to work overseas like nothing happened.
Mom : -We're gonna be home next week.-
Liam looked at it for a solid minute before he started typing.
Liam : -Sure.-
But looking back, it's not a resentment. It's loneliness. That's what he felt after Toru left. It was sudden and somehow made him feels like it was his fault.
Although, he didn't know what was the reason he felt this way, still it didn't lessen his guilt at all.
"Damn it!" Liam huffed. He stood alone on a familiar street outside his apartment. To be exact, Toru's apartment. But the latter moved out and leaving him without as much of an explanation. He let out a straight punch to the wall on random building, leaving a blood trail that came from his knuckles.
"Liam, please," a gentle voice coming from in front of him. "That's enough."
"What are you doing here, Ciara?" Liam whirled around tilted his head to the right to spot a girl who was the cause of this mess.
"I asked her to come," Nadya replied curtly, stepping forward and stand face-to-face to the auburn haired boy.
"Ciara has been worried about you. You know, it's not just her but—"
"I won't go back inside until I find Toru," Liam cut her off, his voice filled with anger and decisive tone.
"I know he's your friend but he said he'll be back you know? it's not a big deal—"
"I don't care, Nadya!" Liam shouted, followed by his twin who was sighing behind him. "Until he's back, I will go looking for him."
In all of his entire life, he had never felt more pain like this. He was burdened by guilt and resentment towards himself as he tried to ignore the stinging pain in his palms.
Most importantly, he needed to apologize to Toru if it's something that he did. He admitted that it may be his fault that he was letting it go this far. Liam was well-aware of that more than anyone close to the little boy.
Sometimes it was hard to imagine that his action would lead to Toru doing something that would get him caught by the unit feared by all of the stray. But, Toru wouldn't do that, right?
Liam shivered at the thought of it. He didn't even want to imagine the scene played in his mind with Toru being locked up inside some random facility that could likely get him hurt or worse, killed.
And that was why he was running through the crowded streets of the neighborhood on a blue converse with Nadya following behind.
Ciara, however, Liam decided to leave her for awhile in the house he bought using his savings until he sorted things out with the azure-eyed boy. He had changed from his 'lame' outfit to something more practical and combat boots to increase his agility when facing strays or perhaps SIU in this case.
Nadya, right behind him, had her thick hair pulled into a loose pony tail and her brown pants made her look dangerous as her deep eyes scanned the crowd, looking for the familiar face of a boy she had known since they met each other.
They each scanned the crowd in search of the younger-looking boy.
"This is my fault, isn't it?" Nadya said as she caught up to Liam, looking down and overwhelmed with guilt. "If not for me forcing Toru to accept, we won't be in this situation."
"Stop it, Nadya." She stopped and tilted his head to face him. "We are one, you're the result of my ability. There's nothing you can do but adhere to my desire."
"..."
"So, other than blaming yourself, I think you will do better to make up for your mistakes." Liam said without a hint of sarcasm but in a harsh and filled with kindness. "No sign of him here. Let's go."
Nadya smiling sadly and trotted up to the other side of this boy who she considered a friend instead of powerline. She walked slowly beside him and looked up to the sky, clear and blue, the opposite of what she feels now.
There was one reason she felt like the blue sky right now. A security camera hanging up, monitoring each of the moves of citizen walking around as if they're about to commit crimes.
"Liam, I think I've got an idea." She stood up abruptly.
"What? That's unusual of you." Liam commented as he raised an eyebrow. It was a common response and Nadya just sighed, slid beside him.
"How nice of you to say that."
"Ah, sorry! Please tell me your idea, Nadya!" Liam said and he can't shake the hope from creeping into his voice.
"You see that over there?"
"Wha—? Ah, so that's it. You will hack the CCTV?" She nodded.
And here they are. Waiting and looking at the laptop in front of Nadya in trepidation, Liam paced around the room as if afraid to not find anything or worried that his twin couldn't hack into the server.
But after a moment, Nadya shouted and pointed at the screen.
"Check this out, Liam."
Liam took a close look and gasped.
"This is—?!"
