Toru could hear his heart started beating louder and louder. He already run until his feet and legs ached and the dirt stuck to his shoes.
Somehow, Toru knew this day would come but he didn't think it would happen this soon.
A quiet and peaceful life made him much more comfortable along with Nadya's nagging and Liam's laziness are a lot of things he liked than the lonely feeling he had before.
And Toru saw them at every turn, family and friends that he could never had. Something that he could call his own, it's all so overwhelming that he realized that he's panicking— he is an emotional mess, after all.
The silence in the air is provided little comfort which doesn't feel like anything in the face of his state. He took one last look at his house. It felt close yet so far, as if it's abandoning him.
Toru turned, thinking that it's fitting to leave and walked away.
The sky is getting dark and void of any clouds. Toru frowned as he felt the cold seeping through his skin and letting the shivering feeling bit him inside.
It's common thing that Elm City to be this cold at dusk.
Toru let it happen because it distracted him from his thoughts. He has money for buses and spend most of the rides gazing at the distant, not sure whether to focus drinking his coffee or sitting through the journey. His mind wandered as he did nothing but tapping his feet on the ground to drive away the memories of his family and painful feeling from his friends.
While he waited near the bus stop, he saw someone. A young man in his twenties, wearing white shirt under light blue sweater-vest sitting with expensive bottle of wine.
Over the past two years of his lonely life, Toru never seen someone in this state before. A salaryman, housewife, student and yet nothing like the man who had an eyebags in his eyes.
Insomnia? Toru thought it wasn't possible to a rich young man who had everything.
The man turned to Toru when he felt stare gazing at him and his eyes become wide open, the fancy glass falling and shattering into thousand of tiny shards.
The man's voice is rough from being unused and not talking for who knows how long, but he still grinned as he said,
"Finally, I got to meet you."
The heterochromia-eyed man stared at his own blue eyes as if he can see beyond Toru. A strange encounter with a man with grey eyes on the left side and yellow eyes on the right side was the first trigger to incite a fight like no others before.
