Pale smoke rose up from behind a dumpster. A cigarette sat in his mouth while a pencil scratched against paper. He ignored the many footsteps walking past as most people wouldn't enter an alleyway, but if they were to he could just keep them from moving. People entered sooner than he was expecting but he froze their feet. He chuckled to himself at the cries of confusion. He heard a gun click and threw away his cigarette. He curled closer into the wall and slowly took out his gun. A voice boomed on a microphone.
"Angel Killer. There's no where to run. If you make any sudden movements, you will be met with lethal force."
"I think you have the wrong guy. I was just drawing"
"Show your face."
He leaned against the ground to be able to see under the dumpster. A bullet landed in someone's knee and they collapsed to the ground with a cry. As they still couldn't move their feet, they both decided to have bullets rain down, hitting the dumpster and grazing the ground near his feet. Still, he stayed calm. Keith went back to aiming again and shot two more people before they made any effort to change attack style or defend. The dumpster moved with a clunk, as someone landed on it. He moved his gun up to shoot her and looked up. He glared and changed his target to her neck and shot. She whacked the bullet away with her glowing wing and it buried itself in the opposite wall, smoking. Keith's eyes followed the bullet as did most of the other police. They halted their fire to stare at the wall. She took the moment of hesitation to grab him by the hair and lift him up. He grabbed her wrist and pulled it closer to his head so that it wouldn't hurt. He planted his feet on the ground instead of hovering by his head.

"You are being arrested for murder against both the human and angel races. Do not resist."
His feet slid slightly apart and froze, then he ducked, still holding her arm. He shot up again and tossed her over his head. Her fingers slipped from his hair as she was thrown. She placed her hand on the wall to push off but he froze her there. She stayed hovering, as she heated up her body temperature. Keith stepped away from her and towards the street. He heard the shuffling of guns and looked over to see they were all trained on him. A pop came from her direction which brought his attention back to her. She was shaking the molten concrete off her hand and there was a small dent in the wall which she had melted away. He backed against the wall and kept switching his attention between both directions, trying to think of a plan. His eyes flicked up to the roof, where Hester was sitting, watching. She smirked and leaned forward. The angel looked up too but all the police were watching him. He growled and in one swift motion he pulled out a gun a shot a bullet towards her. Everyone jumped when the bullet was fired. She spent a few seconds staring up, following the bullet before she shifted her gaze back. The space was empty from where Keith had been a second ago.
"No!"
She went to step forward but her feet wouldn't move. A wave came and went of the police getting stuck as Keith ran past, but the angel stayed stuck the entire time.

He listened very carefully for the 'pop' that would come. It would mean the angel was free. He was a couple blocks away now and he heard a slight pop. He ran into the next street and hugged against the wall. She jumped down from the roof and the ground moved to cushion her landing. Keith huffed and averted his gaze.
"Would you say I proved myself?"
"So that's what you were doing. How long were you there."
"Am I in or not."
Keith sucked in a breath as the angel flew past and he heard the clattering of footsteps following behind her. She moved forward and slapped the wall next to his face. His eyes shot to hers.
"Yes or no."
The first police arrived and he saw them out of the corner of his eye. He turned to look.
"Hey!"
"Fine, fine whatever!"

The wall opened up behind him and he tumbled in. She jumped in after him like Alice and the rabbit hole. Right before the police reached it she closed the wall. It closed on one of their fingers, which sprayed blood into the gap. A fire lit up in Axca's hand.
"Are you okay? What happened?"
Keith had rolled into a desk and hit his head. He rubbed the back of it.
"Ow.."
He looked up and all of the Angel Killers where there. He studied each of their faces before flicking to Hester's. "What did you do"
She scoffed and rolled her eyes.
"For someone known as the Angel Killer, you're pretty weak"
"What-"
She looked to Keith but he wasn't doing anything to stop her. He was just glaring at the ground. She backed down. "What I just did. Was save both you and your group from the police. That angel looked like she wanted to kill you." Keith looked up at her, towering over him.

"Since I'm a part of this group now, and since you all seem to be terrified of the police, I have a proposal."
She looked down at him.
"What is it."
She smirked and pointed to Keith while looking around at the rest of them.
"He is currently very high on the watch list. So either he doesn't leave the base, we have to keep moving, or he leaves until he can get rid of them."
He shot up
"Hey! Was all you wanted to do after you joined boss me around?!"
"You coming here is selfish, do you really want what's best for this group?"
"Would you just shut up and let us think!"
She turned to Keith. The fight had drained from his face as he contemplated what was said. She touched his shoulder and his eyes slid over.
"Just because you think it's too hard to move around all the time doesn't mean we can't try that"
Hester glared at her.

"Why are you defending him? He hurt you and uses you as an example to newcomers. You really want to follow that?"
"Hey. I'll go, just stop.."
His voice faded out and he gestured to the wall.
"Open"
Part of the wall sunk into the floor. He walked towards it but before he stepped out he paused.
"Axca's in charge"
He walked off and turned the corner.
__

He sat in the same alleyway as before. Flicking stones from behind the dumpster. His legs laid out in front of him. He twiddled with his fingers. There had to be a way for all this to stop. He should have never accepted her stupid request. He was so angry he thought he might break his fingers so he let go. There were a lot of loose stones from when the angel came in. He picked one up and threw it to the opposite wall. It left a dent but it bounced off. That just made him more pissed off. Lance saw the flying stones and wanted a closer look. Just as he entered the alleyway, his feet froze.
"Keith?"

His arm stopped mid-swing and the stone fell to the ground.
"Are you okay?"
He pulled his legs up and curled into himself behind the dumpster.
"I can help you"
There was no response. Lance sighed and looked at his feet. He directed his heat into his feet and the grip around them loosened. He pulled one up and it released with a small pop. He thought of at like a plunger. He looked up and saw a gun pointed at his face. The face behind the gun was terrified. Lance raised his hands.

"I'm not here to hurt you"
Keith's eyes shifted to Lance's feet. There was a hole in the floor, just like in the wall when the angel came after him.
"You're an angel too.."
"No uniform, no wings, you don't have anything to be afraid of"
Keith stepped back.
"Just because I can't see them, doesn't mean they're not there"
"Aren't you the angel killer"
His hand trembled so he held it still with his other hand.
"I feel like I should be the scared one right now, you killing angels and me being an angel"
He dropped the gun and backed against the far wall. Lance moved forward but Keith shook his head.

"Stay there"
"Okay"
He sat down with a huff.
"Why are you here? Don't you have a base?"
Keith fell to the ground.
"I would be there right now if I wasn't being followed by cops"
"Hey, no uniform"
"Not you."
"But aren't you the boss? Why were you kicked out"
"Some stupid bitch came along and ruined everything."
"Asami? She was just trying to do her-"
"No! Not the angel."
"Was it someone today"
"What did she tell you"
"About today? Um, they found you in an alleyway and you attacked them, then there was a distraction and you escaped"
"Course she said it like that. The distraction was someone I had turned away before I shot you"
"The whole 'she has two days to prove herself or she's gone'?"
"Yep. She was just watching the whole time. When I saw her I fired a bullet her way. That surprised everyone. I'm pretty sure they thought she was back up. I ran with the chance I had and she found me. I got the feeling that if I didn't let her join, she would have turned me over to the police. She got us inside just before the police would have got us. But then she started going on about how I was weak and selfish for allowing the police to follow me. That I should leave until I have the police problem sorted."

"How can I help?"
He scrunched up his face
"You serious?"
"What?"
"I just told you that I have police following  me because I'm the angel killer. Helping me would go against both your jobs"
He crawled forward and grabbed his gun. He sat back against the wall and fiddled with it.
"I already said, no uniform no wings. My job is to help people. Both of them"
Keith's face darkened. He rose the gun up again and shot. The bullet flew over Lance's shoulder. It hit the base of Lance's wing then dropped to the ground. The cloaking around his wings slowly dissolved away, starting from the impact point. He hissed and pinched the wound.

"Enough with the bullshit. Your wings will always come up as a defence, visible or not. So saying no wings is useless in a situation like this. I know you wouldn't just walk around on patrol for fun, so no uniform is only for the clothes and not the job or responsibility they imply. I'm also not blind. I can see the outline of your Swan badge beneath your hoodie, so either your wear part of your uniform when not on the job, or you just chucked that hoodie on overtop of your uniform for warmth or to hide something."
"That's.."
"Spot on? Yeah. I know"
Lance tilted his head
"How many angels have you killed"
"Three"
"What are your powers"
"Wall and floor grip, precision and I can heat up my hands. What's yours"

"Healing"
"Yeah I shot you yesterday, it makes sense that you can move your arm now."
"Was I not meant to be able to move it?"
"I shot a nerve."
"Wow"
He dropped his hand from his wing. Keith looked over an it was no longer raw.
"You can leave. You're not stuck there"
"No I can't"
"What, why?"
"I have to help you"
"You mean you want to?"
"Well yes, but at first I was actually told to"
Keith glared at him and stood up. He walked towards the open street.
"Hey-"

Keith spun around and lifted the gun up to Lance's face. Lance shut his mouth and just watched.
"You just told me that someone who is trying to help me was ordered to. Why would I be happy."
He dropped his eyes
"Sorry"
"If I shot you, you won't die."
"Yeah but it still hurts!"
"Good to know."
He pulled the trigger and Lance dodged. It just skimmed his ear. He slapped it to keep it from splitting open. Keith growled and stomped away. Lance sighed as he watched him go. He pulled his hand away and dropped it into his lap. There was blood on it.
