His head rose to look at the towering building.
"What is this place?"
"You'll see"
Hawks could hardly contain his excitement as he led him inside.
"Welcome back Hawks, haven't seen you here for a while"
There was something there that Keith recognised. Her eyes.
"Catra?"
Her eyes flicked over and she scowled.
"Hawks."
She motioned for him to follow her. Hawks gave Keith a smile and walked off.
"What is this place?"
After a couple moments, a few kids ran around the corner laughing. They were hitting a ball between them. It came flying towards Keith and they froze. He caught it right before it reached his face. He lowered it and gave a look towards them.
"Sorry mister"
He placed it on the ground and smiled.
"That's alright"
They ran towards to grab it and kicked it away from him. 'Orphanage' Catra and Hawks walked out into the room from around a corner.
"Keith. Come here."

He followed her back to where she just was.
"Look, I know you're the Angel Killer"
She stood away from him with a cautious gap between them.
"Some of the kids would know who you are too."
"Yeah a lot of people seem to know me"
"This isn't a joke. If people know who you are they won't feel safe."
"What did you do to Hawks."
"What? Nothing"
"So it's his own stupidity then"
He frowned and she sighed
"He should be the most cautious around you, yet he sees you as though you can do no wrong."
"Oh that, it's so frustrating"
"You have taken lives. I don't want to see you near this place because I don't want to have to worry about the safety of any of these kids"
"Is this the same orphanage that we.."
"Mm"
"Okay, I just, um. I'll just go then"
He turned around
"Keith"
His head flicked over his shoulder
"Why do you kill"
He hung his head toward the ground
"I dunno, it's just become habit I guess"
"If you ever dare kill Keigo.."
Keith choked
"No way. You don't have to worry"

They stepped back into the main living area and Hawks was playing with some kids. Keith slid his eyes over but flicked them to the door. Hawks looked up and frowned.
"Keith?"
He stepped forward to get to him but Catra caught his wrist. His head whipped around and his expression fizzled out when seeing her face. The door bell dinged as he left and hurried out of their line of sight.
"Catra what did you say to him?"
Her hand tightened around his wrist.
"You need to stop ignoring his faults. He is certainly not perfect and definitely not safe, but you decide to bring him here"
"I just thought it would cheer him up"
"Look how well that's turned out"
He scowled and tugged away
"You need to stay away from him, for your safety."
"For my safety?! Is that what that just was? My safety!"
She covered his mouth with her hand. Fire lit his eyes but he didn't fight her. She tilted her head to point.
"The kids"
He growled and shoved away from her. He left through the doors flying, sending a gust of wind throughout the room.
__

He was silent but fidgety at the Angel Killer's hideout.
"Oi Keith, You okay?"
A habit. How long has it been habit?
"Keith."
"I need to break a habit"
His eyes were focused on the ground.
"What? What do you mean?"
"I need to break a habit"
His eyes pierced into hers
"What kind of habit are we talking?"
He huffed and gestured around them.
"This. All of this"
"Keith you can't be serious"
"I don't know how long I've been killing from habit, and I don't know that I should have been killing in the first place"
She scoffed
"What kind of spirit guru did you speak to recently?"
He huffed and stood up
"Common room. 2 minutes"
"What are you planning to do?"
"What I should have done before things got out of hand."
"Keith what the hell does that mean"
"You'll see."
He left the room and shut the door behind him.

They all gathered in the common room. Most were sitting on tables or the floor. Axca was leaning against a table with her arms crossed. A look of worry sat on her face.
"I'm disbanding the Angel Killers"
"What?"
"Keith."
"You heard me"
"No."

Toga hopped down from the table and stepped forward but Axca stuck her arm out to stop her.
"This better not be because of that stupid angel."
"What?"
She turned around to look at Toga and her expression was just complete shock and confusion. Toga's eyebrows furrowed and her eyes snapped back to Keith.
"You didn't tell them."
"Didn't tell us what?"
"What does it matter"
"Why does it fucking matter!? Because its a fucking angel Keith!"
"It wasn't directly an angel, and it's not even the one you know"
"Fucking hell. There's more?"
"Keith. Just because you happen to be the leader, doesn't mean we don't get a say. Now you are either going to take back what you said or you're going to leave."
His eyes narrowed and he folded his arms.
"Alright, looks like you're leaving. And you know what happen to people who leave, we can't have information leaking out, can we?"
"Since you were the leader we'll be a bit easier on you. We won't kill you directly, but if we cause things to happen and you die because of it then that counts."
He looked around and he heard murmurs of agreement and saw nodding. He opened his mouth to protest but he was staring at the door from the outside. The building shimmered and the door disappeared. He stepped backwards off the stairs and blinked back his shock. His eyes slid to the side and saw someone's eyes flick into the alleyway before shooting away. He frowned and walked out but they were gone.
__

She had hurried around the entire city looking for him. A few times she thought she saw him, but by the time she got around the corner, there was no one there. She huffed and was walking back to her apartment when her feet froze. Her eyes shot up and all around her. When their eyes met he frowned and walked around the corner. Her eyes widened and the grip holding her feet loosened. She walked towards the turnoff. He leaned against the wall with his arms folded.
"Thank god. I've been looking for you for ages"
He huffed
"Why, so you can send me back in a jail cell?"
"No, and I hope you know that I didn't tell anyone where you were that day"
"How did they know I was there"
"All police get tracked"
His eyes flared and he started to walk away
"I got rid of mine"

He froze and turned his head
"Why have you been following me?"
"I knew it. It was you!"
His eyebrow raised and she cleared her throat.
"I want to join the Angel Killers"
He rolled his eyes and turned away
"I know you don't believe me because of last time, but I actually do"
"Did you get questioned"
"Oh, you mean when you were in the station? Yeah I did"
"Did you lie to them?"
"No, at that time I actually had no memory of you guys at all"
"Narti"
"Yup"
"So then why did you... Everything you did?"

"I needed everyone to think I was on the other side"
"Well you're out of luck. I'm no longer a part of them"
"After everything you did, you really just get to walk away."
"Not exactly"
"Why'd you leave"
"None of your business"
"How do I find the Angel Killers?"
"No clue. I'm out of contact with them. They left and probably sealed all the places I know about"
Hawks flew overhead and Keith's eyes followed him
"What was that?"
"Stupid angel"
"Let's kill it"
"No I told you I'm not a part of them anymore"
"That doesn't mean you can't kill angels"
"I mean technically, if I kill an angel, people would assume that I am an Angel Killer"
"Well, you are the Angel Killer"

Keith scoffed
"Is that all?"
"Why are you in a hurry"
"I still don't trust you, and I have to be more cautious than before"
"Why"
"Now I'm being hunted from both sides"
"What'd you do to get the Angel Killers after you"
"If you leave they kill you, but since I was the leader, they've said that they're not going to kill me directly, but instead cause things to happen which I die from. In my opinion that way is a lot more harsh"
Keith saw Hawks in the corner of his eye. He peeked over the edge and hid his face out of sight. Keith was just able to freeze his feet in place and hoped that he would get the idea. His attention was brought back down to the alleyway when Hester spoke.

"So then since I'm trying to join the Angel Killers, I should kill you?"
He frowned and raise his hand to rest on his gun's handle.
"Not directly"
"But since I haven't joined yet, I wouldn't know that"
"Well since you haven't joined yet you shouldn't know that in a target"
"You'll always be a target"
"You sound eager"
"You have no idea"

In a fluid motion she stuck her hand behind her back and brought it forward with her gun facing Keith. The trigger clicked and a slight pop made its way to Keith's ears. Keith rose his gun to explode the bullet but a flury of red made its way to the bullet first. Hawks hissed as the bullet buried itself into his shoulder and he pressed his hand against it to hold it shut.
"I knew someone was there!"
She gestured above them.
"Keith, that one wasn't meant for you. It was to test what they would do"
"I did notice that it was a bit high"
She pointed her gun at Hawks.
"Which makes me wonder, why did an angel leap out to save an Angel Killer?"
Hester flicked her eyes over to Keith but he looked like he wanted an answer too.
"You got an answer for us buddy?"
When her only response was a glare she pulled the trigger. The bullet exploded and Hawks rose his arm to shield his face. Her eyes snapped towards Keith and he sighed.

"I take it back. It was meant for you."
She raised her gun again but turned back towards the opening when she heard a siren. Her eyes flared and she stepped forward but her feet froze. Keith grabbed her arm and twisted it until she could no longer hold onto the gun. She grabbed a knife from behind her and jabbed it towards Keith. He grabbed her wrist and slid the gun back towards the wall.
"If you don't want to end up in a cell, you should go"
Her wrist was squeezed and the knife clattered to the ground. The grip on the ground loosened and she moved towards the knife but Keith stood on it.
"You saved an angel."
"I knew him far before I was the Angel Killer"
"And that's why he jumped in to save you"
"Leave us alone"
There was a clattering of boots coming closer and she pulled on his grip.
"It's okay to be afraid"
He let go of her arms and dropped his hands to his sides. The ground rose up below her and she stepped off onto the neighbouring building's roof. The pillar dropped back into the ground. Keith sunk into the shadows as police rounded the corner and the air around him shimmered.

"Sorry for calling you, I thought I heard something down here but it was nothing"
Hawks' hands were raised as he spoke, but Keith couldn't see his wound anymore. He looked around but could not see the weapons on the ground.
"Sorry if it caused any trouble"
"None this time, but don't do this again"
"Sure"
They walked back from where they came from and drove away. The scene melted before his eyes and Hawks was staring at the place where the healed one was just standing.

"You're welcome"
She stuck her head over the edge and grinned when both looked up at her with the same shocked expression.
"But now you owe me"
Her head dissappeared back and she walked away. Keith moved towards Hawks and winced when he saw the blood seeping through his clothes.

"You okay?"
"No"
He exhaled
"I was shot"
"You know you didn't have to do that"
"I wasn't about to let you get hurt"
Keith sighed
"Why didn't you just stay up there"
"I could hear the anger excellerating in her voice"
"How much did you hear?"
"Why are you a target?"
"You need to get that treated"
"If I go to a hospital, you shouldn't come with me. It's a bullet wound, and your wanted by the police so they would be suspicious of you"
"I can do it"
"You can?"
"I used to get shot all the time"

Hawks sighed and rolled his head back to lean on the wall.
"It'll be tender but not as painful"
Hawks shut his eyes and Keith pulled tweezers from his pocket. He heard him suck in a breath. He waited a few minutes of dark silence before he heard a loud rip.
"What are you doing?"
"Bullet's out, I'm just covering it"
Keith cut off the remaining cloth in the way of the wound. He wrapped the strip of cloth around his shoulder and pulled it so that it would be secure. Hawks sucked in a breath and shot forward. His eyes flicked to Keith's focused hands to his dark eyes. Keith stilled under his gaze and finally tore his eyes away.
"Sorry"

His eyes moved back to his hands and he finished tying the knot. Hawks' left arm rose up and ended up on Keith's back. He pulled Keith towards him and wrapped his arm around his waist. He sighed into Keith's neck.
"Keigo?"
"Why'd you leave yesterday?"
"Nothing, just had to get something done"
"Then why didn't you tell me"
"I was in a rush"
"It seemed like you were ignoring me"

Keith sighed and shifted so that he was beside Hawks.
"I don't want you getting hurt"
Hawks scoffed and tilted his head so that he could see his face.
"It hurts when I'm ignored"
Keith frowned and looked away.
"Okay but I'm a part, I was, a part of the Angel Killers, and you're an angel. If people see you near they would wonder why I decided to keep you alive and-"
"Pause."
Hawks held up a hand close to his face and Keith's eyes flicked over.
You were a part of the Angel Killers? What happened?"

He shrugged
"Got kicked out"
"What? Why"
"I tried to dispand them, they hated it and kicked me out"
"And that's why you're a target."
"I mean yeah, if you leave they kill you. I would have been instantly if I didn't use to be the leader"
"And you knew that before you tried to dispand them?"
Keith gave a quick nod
"Please don't tell me you did that for my sake"
"No, after Catra talked to me it got me thinking"
"Catra? What did she say."
"Nothing, don't worry about it."
"When did you leave?"

"Yesterday"
"Did you sleep"
"No"
"You're sleeping"
"What?"
"Now."
"I can't, there's still daylight"
"If that's the problem then here"
He clasped his hand over Keith's eyes. Keith jumped and sucked in a breath. He heard Hawks chuckle and he frowned.
"What."
"You are such a child"
"I can't help it!"
Hawks sighed
"Does it help though?"
"Only a little bit"
"Well, we're not leaving until you sleep. I'll wait as long as it takes"

Keith huffed
"Don't you have a life?"
"Hey."
"It's just that, all you ever seem to do is hang out with me"
Hawks moved his hand from Keith's eyes and he squinted at the change of brightness. He pushed his face to turn his towards him and his fingers lingered on Keith's cheek before dropping. Keith's eyebrow quirked and Hawks smiled.
"I lost you once. Its never happening again"
Keith blinked and struggled for his lost breath.
"You'll be my guardian angel"
He barely mumbled that so he wasn't expecting him to hear but Hawks' grin grew.
"Exactly"

His wing came behind Keith and he pushed himself up from the wall.
"Keith."
He crouched in front of him and flicked between his eyes. Hawks waited, chewing on his lip. Keith leaned forward until their foreheads were touching. Hawks huffed.
"Hey, what are ya doing?"
Keith tilted his chin up and lowered his eyelids. Their lips connected and Hawks pulled him closer. His hand raised and his fingers tangled with his hair. Keith slumped slightly and Hawks pulled his own head back to the wall. His hand fell from his hair and rested off his shoulder. His head nuzzled into Hawks' chest and he sighed. Hawks ran his fingers through Keith's hair and smiled.
