“Master Myles, I have returned!” Windfighter announced as he sat outside, much like a dog would. Of course, there was plenty of room for him inside, as magic was an excellent tool. However, he did prefer to wait until Myles allowed him to come inside.
“Alright. Come on in.” Myles yelled back as he sat upstairs in his office, surrounded by books and his favorite plants. The sun was bright that day, and it was pleasantly cool out, so he could wear his favorite button-down shirt without getting sweaty. He was not a fan of the heat, so it was pleasant to have such a cool day. WindFighter came up the stairs, transforming himself into a human-esque looking man. Next to him was a petite but charming lady, Lydia. WindFighter himself was a handsome-looking man. His yellow dragon eyes and horns were the only real giveaways that he was not human. He was tall and muscular, with a charming smile and perfect jawline.
“It is good to see you again, Master. I apologize it took me so long to return to you.” WindFighter, or Windy as Myles had come to call him, said as he went on one knee and bowed his head. “I had to gather my wife and belongings to remake our home here. You can imagine, moving is not easy!” He laughed cheerfully, looking back up at the young villain who sipped at his tea.
“Yes, I can imagine. It is lovely to finally meet you, Lydia. Windy has told me much about you. He is quite a in love.” Myles said with a smile, standing up to greet Lydia. He took her hand and kissed it gently, as any gentleman would in his situation. She giggled and looked at Myles with an approving smile, much like a mother would.
“It is wonderful to meet you as well, Master Myles. I have to say, when I first heard that a human defeated my Windy, I could not believe it. Yet even just standing by you, I can feel your magic. I am quite excited to be moving in next door.” She smiled brightly. Her hair was a deep brown and tied back in a braid that reached just below her shoulders, and her eyes shimmered in the light like the ocean. She was a true beauty with a good figure. Myles, of course, could understand why Lydia had fallen for the dragon, with Windy being such an attractive person in his human form. He did wonder how they spent time in bed together, but he figured it would not be an excellent question to ask someone you just met.
“I am excited as well. It will be good to have more company now that my sister has left home.” Myles started with a small sigh, putting down his cup of tea. “It will be better too in case we have another attack. Though it is troublesome, it is easier if you are here than out far away.”
That was the other thing; Myles had become known as the next big villain for one reason. Since then, human heroes of all kinds have been coming to the house, trying to kill him. Not that they had any success, of course. It was incredibly annoying, though, and with each hero he defeated, more and more rumors spread about his ‘evil powers.’ It got to the point where they had to sneak his sister and her partner away from the house. However, his sister surprisingly supported his new ‘career’ option. After pledging loyalty (and spreading the information about who had defeated him), Windy returned to Myles and suggested that he move closer to better protect his Master. Myles agreed, hoping it would save him from a battle or two. Thus leading to the situation here.
Now it was no question that this was not what Myles had anticipated happening; however, there was little he could do about it other than keep living on. Every day, adventurers were coming in and trying to kill him and to be honest, Myles just wanted to drink his tea in peace. At first, it had been a mild inconvenience, but now...
“Windy, I was actually thinking about it. However, I am not much of a villain, am I?” Myles asked suddenly, catching both dragon and wife off guard.
“What do you mean, Master Myles?” Lydia asked gently. She really was like a mother. It kind of threw Myles off of his game. Whatever that game was.
“I mean, I am thinking of putting the call out there. This whole situation has been annoying. I haven’t been able to drink a cup of tea in peace in weeks. Yet no matter how much I try and reason with these adventurers, they are determined to try and kill me.” His boots were pacing now, making a satisfying clack against the hardwood floors. “I never wanted to be named a villain, yet if that is what they want... Then don’t you think I need to live up to the name?”
Windy grinned then and put a hand on his hip, looking rather excited by what his Master said.
“I see. You want to start raising an army then?” Windy asked, the room getting hotter as he blew air out of his nose.
“Exactly. Now that I have you two here, it only makes sense to slowly build up. If I have enough of an army in front of me..” He stopped pacing and grinned. “I can finally have my tea in peace without worrying that some idiot will try and kill me.”
Lydia clapped her hands then, smiling at Myles proudly.
“That was truly a villainous speech, Master Myles! Oh, how thrilling!” She mused, walking over to Windy and wrapping her arms around his waist. “Darling… This is most wonderful indeed! Though I do find it odd, our Master simply wants a cup of tea in peace… I do completely understand. If he can achieve his goals….”
“Precisely. We Others can have a chance at peace too. Master Myles, our goals may be slightly different. However, in the end, I believe we can achieve greatness that suits both of our needs.” Windy yelled, a little bit too loud. Lydia gently pinched his cheek, sighing aloud.
“Darling, please do not yell inside. You will distress Master Myles.” She said, winking at Myles before she moved away from Windy. “Well, it has been lovely talking to you. I must be going now, as we have a lot to unpack! Windy is pretty useless for household chores, so if you feel like coming over and helping, I will make you a sweet treat.” Lydia hummed, waving goodbye after she kissed Windy. “Behave you two~” She left to start moving into the smaller house next door.
“Your wife is something else. When you first said you were married, I thought it would be to another dragon. Not a hot human girl.” Myles noted once Lydia had left, the poor mage looked a bit tired. He sat back down, returning to his tea.
“Ah yes. I am quite the lucky man. She met me when I was in dragon form. I had killed her slaver, you see. Real bastard of a man. He had tried to capture me, but that was a stupid idea. I killed him in front of her, and she begged me to take her with me. I normally don’t take to humans, you know, but she was so kind and her eyes... They caught me. Long story short, she came to live with me, and slowly we fell in love. We have been married now for almost twelve years.” He smiled, a slight blush forming on his cheeks. “Each day, Master Myles, I fall more in love with that woman… She is truly incredible. She is also a very talented healer if you ever need it. Though I doubt it considering your own abilities.” He smiled proudly, much like a dad would. The more Myles thought about it, the more these two were already like parents. Though Myles did appreciate it, he would never admit it.
“So, twelve years, huh? Are you two planning on having any kids?” Myles asked then, resting his head on his hand as he looked out the window.
“We are currently trying. At first, I was against the idea of being who I am. But if we are under your protection, Master Myles, then I feel safe having a family with my beloved wife.” He smiled warmly then and put a hand on Myles’s shoulder. “Having you defeat me has given me more chances in life. I thank you for that.”
“Huh… I really didn’t do anything, but I am happy for you two.” Myles yawned after a moment, closing his eyes in the sun’s warmth. It was good napping weather, now that he thought about it.
“What about you, Master? Do you have any sweethearts you have your eyes on?” Windy asked then, grinning as he sat down on the couch across the way from Myles. He stretched out, and it was clear even just sitting how much of a hunk Windy was. The name did not fit him, Myles decided.
“Me? Not really. I had people interested in me, but I never felt the same way. I would be ok with dating if it was the right person, but I have yet to find that person. Plus, it is troublesome. Not everyone is as lucky as you.” Myles sighed. The truth was, he did not find women all that attractive. Sure he could objectively see that an individual woman was pretty. Still, he never really understood why everyone was so girl-crazed. One of the many things that made Myles feel so much more comfortable at home alone.
“That is ok. You are young. It took me three hundred years before I started to date. Even then, it wasn’t until Lydia I really felt love.” Windy hummed, pausing before he stood up. “Master, we have humans approaching from the east. Shall I go greet them?” He asked, grinning as flames began to form around his mouth.
“Go have fun. Just don’t damage the forest too much. I like the trees there. They make lovely flowers in the spring.” Myles said, yawning. “And don’t be too noisy.”
“Very well, Master Myles.” Windy stood up and bowed. “I will make quick work of these fools.”
Windy then left to go deal with the humans. Myles just sat there in his office, sipping on his tea, when he suddenly realized his cup was empty. That was indeed annoying, but he could do nothing about that. He sighed and put the cup down, staring out the window. He was unsure what steps he would need to take next, but other creatures would come by as word continued to spread. Those who were willing, he would take on into his new army, or perhaps it would be a nation. He was not sure yet which would be better. It seemed so strange to be thinking of such things. However, it was necessary for his end goal. It really did seem that the only way he would find his peace was to force everyone to give him that peace.
He heard muffled screaming in the background, coming from the east. He was confident that Windy was dealing with those fools harshly. Perhaps he should have cared more about those human lives. However, he found it hard to care about those who attacked him. In a way, they were walking into their own deaths by deciding to attack one named Myles the Destroyer.
