Where the Story Goes: Book 1; Greece

Adrasteiaś garden of hooligans

Adrasteiaś garden of hooligans

Jul 24, 2021

“I don’t think so, I mean- I don’t see why I would be, I am new and your new too. You are the first male in the ranks with women, so people might love you.” I say trying to uplift his tired and sad state.

“Or hate me, more likely hate me you know? I mean I took away one of their most ancient laws.” He slouched and frowned

I looked at him and sighed. “ Under the queen's orders.”

“People rebel, who knows what will happen, they could and will kill me.” He looked at me knowing I knew what he meant. And I did.

“ Not if I can say anything about it.” I smile and stand tall showing pride in my dress and bow.

He half-heartedly chuckles. “ Right.”

“ Finish up so you can pick your weapon! I have to go or Alexis will find out I ran off.” I sprinted back to where I was and waited again.

♛

I waited for about 10 minutes before Alexis returned with Annassa. Annassa was in a white dress that had a shorter ending at her thigh, her golden belt was around her waist, her sandals were tied all the way to her upper-calf.

“Come, I will show you to your teacher.” Annassa walks to the gardens full of hyacinthus. I remember the story well of these flowers.

Apollo had fallen in love with a man named Hyacinthus. Apparently Hyacinthus was born a spartan prince, which may be why I know his story so well. Anyways Hyacinthus was supposedly very pretty. So naturally Apollo fell in love with him. So basically your everyday story of a god falling in love with a mortal, I hope you know where this is going, if not you must be new to greek mythology. Anyways Apollo was not the only guy who liked him, Zephyr, another god, god of the west wind. Anyways so Zephyr got really jealous. And one day Apollo was showing Hyacinthus how to throw a discus, Zephyr uses his ‘magic’ and switches the winds to hit poor Hyacinthus on the head killing him. Apollo was super sad- like really sad for a new relationship, a bit creepy really. Anywho so Hyacinthus was dying in Apollos arms. Apollo turned him into a flower and wrote a highly depressing poem on the petals. Very sad story, another reason I know it really. Back to the story…my story I mean.

So I follow her. We walked through the garden, which was very beautiful by the way.

“Adrasteia! We have your new student I told you about!” Annassa shouted

A girl popped out from behind a shrub. She had messy blonde hair, what seemed to be green eyes and a classic athens dress. She had a troublesome smile across her face. “Zoe right? Welcome to male hell.” Her voice was full of humor and sarcasm.

Annassa rolled her eyes “Not hell Adrasteia.”
