Prologue chapter 3: The Queen's Lament part 1
I woke up in the mountainous hillside of Spain, despite the forest around me I could see a large decline of the land. I looked up at the sky. It was late noon at the least, I wouldn’t be surprised if Cyanide has sent his forces to find me before I fully recover. I began to walk carefully down the decline. If I find a stream I could find some of my people. But as I made it near the bottom of the decline I felt a presence, five figures watched me from the trees. Human all of them, “So do you wish to merely stalk me, or do you plan to engage?” Announcing that I knew they were watching.
A minute of silence passed before the figures dropped from the trees and they wore cloaks of varying colors. One wore a Deep Blue like the ocean, another Ruby Red like fire, one had a calm Purple that swayed slightly in the breeze, a Dark Orange nearly Brown like the Earth, and a Forest Green which blended in the best.
The Red one spoke up first “Our being here is no accident your highness, we were assigned to bring you to our master.” He declared, which told me I would not get out of this with words. But I knew I still had not regained all my energy from last night.
Before I could plan out a course of action the Green robed mage used magic to launch four vines at me while the Purple mage knocked me off my feet with wind magic. I quickly caught myself with my hands and kicked my feet to launch two fireballs at two of the approaching vines, then used my own wind magic to launch myself back to my feet. As I did I slashed the other two approaching vines in half. Before I had time to fully think out my next move, I felt two rocks crash into my back.
I could tell that it did a number on me as I fell to the ground. But I didn’t let them use this as an advantage, when my hands touched the ground I encased myself In a layer of vines, ice, and stone so I could at least breathe for a moment. It didn’t take long until I heard the crashing of stone against stone, so I knew they did not have metal weapons unlike me.
I could hear one of them from the other side of my encasement “Is this really worth it?” She said seemingly bored, “You will do as the master commanded.” another voice snapped.I could tell it was the Red one.
I could feel five more strikes before the rocks broke then within a minute the ice melted and the vines began burning from fire magic. I waited till the fire broke through before using my own magic to grab it and throw it back at the caster. When the flames cleared the Red hooded figure was on the ground, it seems the flames got a bit too close for comfort and he passed out from a heat stroke. The Purple and Blue mage began to try bringing their friend back to consciousness while the Green and Orange ones prepared to attack.
I felt the ground tremble for a moment before I was launched into the air with five vines approaching me quickly. I launched a large jet of fire to destroy them before they reached me, but something still grabbed my leg and encased it before I could break free. I was thrown to the ground and knocked out once again.
