Gellio turned around to face the metal humanoid, and truly take in the room he was in. Blank and simplistic, taking a rectangular form. Doors stood to their sides to other rooms, but Gellio couldn't even hear anyone else near them, maybe none at all in the whole building.
The metal was sort of relieved after seeing him go conscious, yet worry and panic at his future health kicked in.
“Are you okay?” Gellio asked, with a noticeable tone of worry
“But...who...are...you?” the man repeated, in a very tired but confused tone. His featureless yet semi-muscular body sat in a comfortable position, for he was lying down. His movements seemed to be restricted and painful.
“I...think I saved you? You were dying, sir.”
“Dying…? Huh, guess that’s why I felt like garbage. Well whatever you did seemed to work.”
The metal man stood up, but immediately fell painfully down into the floor. He instead skittered up to the wall, Gellio slowly following him and squatting down to meet the man’s eyes.
“Guess I’m still recovering…” the man said, still a bit of weakness in his tired voice.
The man never stared at Gellio directly, his metal sockets for eyes darting around the room, trying to find something. He looked into all directions, and any object that was within arm’s reach was investigated heavily by him. Every angle, every little hole, everything. He just kept looking and looking, for some unknown purpose. Gellio had enough of this for a while, but he kept at it for a while.
“Why are you metal?” He finally said.
“Oh this?” the man asked back, still not looking at Gellio, and going on with his endless search. “Oh it’s just a suit.”
“Then how did all of this happen?”
“Oh god, where are my manners? I am Matthew White, one of the most recognized scientists here in the City. Excuse me for tooting my own horn, but it’s true. Before all of this happened, I was simply presenting one of my new inventions to the rest. Until, well some undercover agent came out from below the table and shot me, just about when I was entering this suit! It was not only painful, but frustrating!”
“What was your invention?”
“Nanotech, you know, the usual. Yet I programmed it so that it could be controlled by one’s mind. The suit, on the other hand, is supposed to let you change your own form! The invention is supposed to help those without limbs, or any movement difficulties. It was gonna be genius! Powerful! But well, that guy shot me so it was ruined before I could even pitch it.”
Gellio pondered about this explanation. A small revelation, and a mystery still remained.
Why did someone shoot him? Was the invention something more than a selfless creation to help those who’d need it?
Gellio then found the opportunity to ask this seemingly smart man questions he had long wondered about, especially since Matt just kept looking and investigating his current position and predicament. Never did he meet Gellio’s eyes.
“So ummm…” Gellio began. “What do you know about…Hellstone?”
“Oh Hellstone?” Matt said back. “Oh yeah we’ve been using that for decades here.”
“Wait, decades? But…but wasn’t it…just discovered when I became…Kyle said the scientist thought of it as a…new discovery…"
“Decades, yes…wait,” Matt interrupted. “Why can’t I open my suit?”
“Oh…right. You’re kinda…merged with your suit…”
“What?! What did you…”
And Matt finally turned his gaze up to Gellio. He beheld his demonic form, even beneath the cloth he wrapped around himself. The dark writhing body, and the bright eyes filled with that blue flame.
