The twelve’s faces twisted into grins as they ran towards the Cities of Dawn.
Their hearts sung with a song that Adalira couldn’t help but sing out for them all to hear.
“Adventure, adventure, we’re coming on our way!
Will there be magic? Will there be mystery?
We’ll find out soon, we’re on our way!”
The words made their steps easier, the ground beneath them calling them forward as Adalira’s magick sunk into the earth.
In what seemed like no time at all, they had made it.
The grass they were on transitioned into rock as they reached the cliff face, eyes forward on the land before the chasm.
“Here we go!” called Tien and Sera. They spread their wings forward against the group, creating a strong gust of wind that sent the others flying forward before flying after them.
The group didn’t often soar through the skies together, as only three of them were actually natured to flight and others were predisposed to keep their feet on the ground. But they all knew what to do, bracing themselves for their collision on the other side.
“You called for adventurers?” Malakai asked lazily as they landed together, aiming the query to the land itself.
“That we did.”
The twelve of them jumped, turning to see a woman sitting under a tree. She was unlike anyone they had ever seen before, with silver skin, black eyes and golden hair. Large wings nestled against her back, made of something other than skin, feathers, bone or membrane.
“It is a pleasure to meet you.” She said cordially, rising from her position. “As the first to enter the Cities of Dawn, I grant you a boon. You alone shall know that in the beginning, there were two.”
She smiled towards them before disappearing as though she had never been there, the grass undisturbed where she had sat.
