And so, dad and I decided to follow him to a certain room, filled with sketches, theories, and calculations. I quickly skimmed through them and they seemed to be accurate scientific processes, but I can’t say for sure.
Anyhow, the scientist talked to us about a recent discovery in Asia, saying that a small meteorite had fallen down, with strange and intriguing properties. He called it Antrocetydonium, or Hellstone. He then went on to explain its power, which was how incredibly explosive it was. Instead of actually damaging structures or land however, it...combined matter. The scientist showed us a demonstration of how the stone worked, why the atoms rearranged themselves to fit the explosive needs of the material, stuff I cannot even comprehend right now.
Dad and I were now convinced, yet the scientist then told us how those people were planning to create a bomb, using this matter-rearranging material, making it with a regular material and then mixing it with hellstone to make bombs of all kinds. Why they were planning to attack Shorin of all places beats me. The scientist claimed to have spy networks, all the way through Asia, where apparently this organization was located. I’m doubtful about that, but that does not matter.
After he had explained this, he showed us throughout the bunker, and I saw even more experiments of kinds that I could not comprehend. Vials with different liquids and materials, metallic shapes and tools, and even more. It was something weird. After that explanation, dad and I simply had to believe the man. We tried to contact you, mom, and Katy, but the man said Shorin was going to be attacked soon, and he did not let us out.
Then...the bomb itself struck. It seemed the bunker was not very resistant, as it started shaking uncontrollably, and when I tried to hold on to a tube near me, I seemed to knock out a test substance. It looked to be a Hellstone combined with a green gooey material. So my body...mixed with this solution, and I turned into this. Hellstones are extremely dangerous... but it seemed that my will couldn’t take control of this strange new form. I started melting, and I couldn’t control my thoughts... I was so scared, that I... exploded, destroying and killing everyone… I have, since then, learned to take on this new body much better, and I'm slowly discovering it’s strange abilities. Finally, I started following you, not knowing exactly who you were, but simply seeing another living thing in the Wasteland was a relief. So now it is you tu-”
At this point, after hearing that long story, Gellio pounced onto Kyle, already having a fist on his sticky face. And he screamed out of anger, saying:
“You... BASTARD! Just because of a silly little accident with a Hellstone, you, not only, killed our father, but our opportunity to discover more about this terrible Wasteland! You made everything worse!”
“It’s not my fault the place was full of weird things!” Kyle answered while standing up and moving up the knife to defend himself from Gellio's anger.
“If you would have just been a little more goddamn careful, we could've had more of an opportunity to survive! You ruined everything, EVERYTHING!”
Gellio now jumped and pounced on Kyle again, narrowly avoiding his knife. Yet Kyle’s sticky body let trails of slime that proved difficult to go through, giving Kyle an advantageous position to strike Gellio. But Gellio could not be striked, moving quickly and stepping off the slime seconds after he went in.
So the fight turned into a series of quick dodges from Kyle and Gellio, always trying to strike each other, but never being able to really do it and always narrowly missing. And this kept on for long long minutes, that is until Gellio shouted out with complete frustration saying:
“You could’ve saved mom and Katy!”
Kyle answered back, even more frustration in his voice. “I COULD NOT!”
And he moved quickly dashing to Gellio's side, leaving slime trails in his way to confuse him. And even if Gellio could get out of those spots rapidly, the pure frustration made him incredibly powerful, always slowing down Gellio just after he had stepped out of a slimy spot.
So, he eventually reached his back, still having Gellio confused in the slime trails, his knife hand posed to attack Gellio at any moment. He simply was torn for his actions and accidents, and his frustration needed to be let out. No longer was he alone on the Wasteland, he had someone, someone else. But that someone made him hate himself, caused him physical and mental pain.
I did not cause this. The bomb was coming nonetheless, I did good. My accident simply made their deaths come sooner and less painfully… Kyle thought.
Frustrated now, Kyle posed himself up to Gellio’s back, his knife pointed upwards. His face was now formed in an angry and terrible glare and his mouth opened saying:
“You don’t understand, I did not ask for any of this either.”
And Kyle’s knife went upward into Gellio’s chest.
