Cars speeded around the City, their red lights going in a flash by the street, leaving trails of red in their paths, with several people with bright clothes entering and exiting these vehicles.
Gellio had not seen anything like this for a while, ever since his time in Shorin. Yet even that did not even begin to compare to this immense city.
But Gellio remained cautious, tightening the cloth around him, and always looking down at the smooth floor of the City. He tried to look like a normal citizen, just wanting to find people like him, something away from the Wasteland, and the City gave him an opportunity.
Gellio mindlessly walked and walked, expecting to see something that would catch his attention. Maybe someone else made of Hellstone, or whatever else this weird world made. Yet it was not happening, only the happy drunken night life of this place.
Gellio felt many stares at him, and muttering pierced his ears. But thankfully nobody bothered him, and left him on his mindless wandering trail. It was repetitive like the walk to this City after the surreal experience of the Lake, but he did not care. He went back and forth to many places, finding new paths to other buildings and stores, yet nothing called out to him, even when he dared to raise his head.
Eventually, he found himself in a busy street, a bar sitting at the side. It was an average building, compared to all the modern architecture here. It was simple black wood, smooth steel tiles making up the floor. Patrons were out in an open area, sitting at simple tables sipping drinks of all colors. This gave Gellio memories of his father going out to these kinds of places. It was a bittersweet memory, knowing those times were gone.
I believe one just…drinks here? Could find some interesting people here I guess
Gellio then entered, tightening the cloth even tighter around him. He hid himself in the busy areas of the simple bar, going up stairs at the side, and eventually to the entrance.
Inside, the place was framed by a bright purple light. It was sort of a party aesthetic, with many drunk patrons talking all over each other. Steel black chairs and tables were set around the floor. Up to the front, was a large and wide black table, facing a whole wall of alcoholic beverages. Patrons here seemed to be in the middle of conversation with the staff, while being served their drinks. To the side of this, were large steel doors that led to a small kitchen.
Gellio sat down at the large table facing the drink wall. A thin, brown greasy-haired staff member came to him. He seemed to be tired and annoyed, rubbing his face with two of his fingers.
Who wouldn’t be tired in such a loud and bright place like this?
“What do you want?” he said, in a very annoyed tone.
“Give me some water,” answered Gellio, not caring for alcohol very much, or any sugary drinks.
“Water? Seriously? Buddy, you need something stronger, look at you!”
“I said I want some water,” Gellio said, amping up the tone of his voice.
“Hey everyone!” the bartender exclaimed loudly out into the room. “This coward wants water.”
“I want water.”
“What if I don’t give it to you,” the bartender answered, quite pridefully.
Gellio now grew extremely frustrated. He lifted his face up, and his bright blue flaming eyes stared at the bartender. His demonic form and matter swirled, and his spiked mouth grew into a horrible grimace.
“Who…who..what…are…” the bartender stammered.
“I. Want. A Glass. Of. Water.” Gellio answered, carefully and slowly saying every word.
“The…the…hell, I’ll…I’ll…call the cops.”
Gellio then threw the bartender over the long table, making him loudly crash against the floor. Many patrons started staring at the new commotion, some even recording it on their modern smartphones. Yet Gellio did not notice for now, and he roughly picked up the bartender and threw him now against a wall.
The bartender painfully and loudly crashed once again, and Gellio put his dark demonic hand on his neck. His cloth hood was pulled back. Now everyone could see his true form.
