An expression of fear came to his face, and he skittered slightly back out into the wall, trying to avoid Gellio’s gaze. Yet besides fear, he also seemed to be confused. There looked to be thousands of thoughts going into his head, with the fear complimenting them.
“Who…who…are you?” he finally stammered.
“A survivor, Matthew,” Gellio answered back. “A survivor of the attack on Sorhin.”
“Are you goddamn serious? Is your head messed up? It’s been decades, decades since the Attack, and no soul was left. Give me the damn truth!”
Decades…decades?! Have I truly been gone that long…what…What is the world now? Yet…Kyle was alive?
Gellio sighed, “That was the truth.”
“It’s impossible! It was genocide, genocide I tell you! And why…why do you look like…like this? Wait…wait…”
And Matt started examining Gellio’s demonic form even closer, still a bit fearful and cautious of it, yet he was looking at it now with an eye of curiosity. He touched his rough Hellstone body, looking everywhere for unknown spots. His eyes darted around the form for a while.
“Wait…no.” he muttered quietly to himself. “Ok so…wait it’s all here…the…no…it can’t be! That’s how…that’s how he…”
“You are a miracle of a being,” Matthew now said out loud, facing Gellio. “Pure…pure Hellstone. Have you even begun to imagine how much your simple body is worth?”
“I do not care.”
“But….but it doesn’t make sense. The Hellstone’s properties don’t last forever, they should’ve been used up! Yet you...you merged me with my suit. Your...body..is functioning!”
“What do you know about Hellstone?”
“Ah...well, we don’t know everything about it...it’s still...a...confusing material. But here is what I know...so far."
Matthew started pandering around Gellio, still processing his whole form. But he also stood thoughtful for several seconds, just shifting his gaze up to the demonic form of Gellio in few bits. Finally, he answered:
“The material...antrocetydonium...was first found in a peculiar meteor, years back now. It was researched, as any would be. Yet we found out that its atoms were...messed up...it didn’t even have atoms! Its composition shouldn’t even be possible according to our scientific laws. It was something revolutionary, something that would make us change our regular laws! It was exciting for many. And although we did have a lot of trouble at first making use of it, with the limited amount of material the strange meteor gave us, we quickly learned how to produce it. For fire...fire was the key! For some reason we still don’t quite understand, if exposed to fire, the material would quickly reproduce among its surroundings, and with enough material, we would be able to better study its properties.
“First of all, as I believe you already know, Hellstone’s core, like the blue fire inside you, was able to combine matter making atoms basically overlap with each other, yet it kept their properties intact. But we could also do it in living things, so we heavily tested this out, and coined two terms for two different processes.
Dominant Fusion and Absolute Fusion, both of which are combinations caused by the Hellstone. In the dominant fusion, two organisms are made into one, but one of them controls the other. It’s like a new being having only one brain. The dominant organism is the only one that has access to the body's abilities. Yet in Absolute fusion, both organisms are made into one body and mind, both control their new body, and both organisms unconsciously make the same decisions at the same time. Large studies of brain activity, seeing how the organisms’ minds functioned or simply seeing which brain was lighting up, came into these conclusions. And time after that, it was also discovered that organisms could be combined with nonliving objects, grating their properties and chemical composition.”
“So then being made of pure Hellstone, I’m able to do this?” Gellio asked, starting to comprehend Hellstone more and more, even with the complex and scientific explanation Matt just gave him.
Yet the scientist remained quiet, avoiding Gellio’s gaze for a while. His eyes still were fearful, but he opened his mouth and said. “Yes…you’re something marvelous.”
“Haven’t you tested hellstone with living things before?”
“Yes but...not humans. I would love to examine your body further, this could be a great development in our studies.”
“Maybe later. So I roughly know what I am now...yet explain this to me: why was Sorhin attacked?”
