I think…I think I finally know how Ahem was able to survive Techtronum’s rough Hellstone bomb. When I was investigating the various previously done experiments with Hellstone in an attempt to understand Ahem’s anatomy, I think I may have come across a possibility of his survival.
I discovered two processes among the previous experiments. The first one is Hellstone Salvation. This explains how to salvage an object from a fusion, by taking dry Hellstone out of it. To do this, the Hellstone has to be exposed to very specific conditions. Yet it’s not easy, as the Salvation must be done before the fusion ends, a fusion which takes less than a second, so this has to be extremely and precisely quick. I’m not sure what the specific conditions are to render dried Hellstone out and cancel the process, but I suppose it’s the opposite of exposing Hellstone to fire, as that makes it produce itself among nearby objects.
Now the other process, and frankly, the most important one. Hellstone Reignition. This is when the Hellstone’s core is unable to be extracted. As I mentioned earlier, dried Hellstone can be taken out to cancel a fusion, yet the core remains, and without the outer layer it cannot react, losing its properties. But, it has been discovered that when joining together dry Hellstone with an unused core, it actually reignites. This could be the reason Ahem was fused with pure, new Hellstone.
But the problem is that he should’ve had contact with Hellstone before, and we have no simpler way of reverting the fusion. What an enigma his past is.

The wars are still ongoing, countries wanting precious terrain. Techtronum keeps making those dangerous bombs. I’ve seen how Ahem looks when I tell him about their development. Those bombs destroyed his family, and changed him into that. We simply could not keep standing idly by. So, I’ve been helping him these past few days. We were investigating the chemical composition of concentrated Hellstone, and an idea was formed. I still had the files and records of the central production of the bomb, along with the weapon’s blueprints. After studying them thoroughly, we both decided on a small change, something that won’t necessarily kill people yet still be deadly in battle. It was simple: we subtly made the process different by creating a concentrated Hellstone core, and having the blue flame in a safe container. The rest was left as it was.
The new concentrated core will fuse with the external layer, which is the material the bomb is made out of. But as the flame keeps producing the core, more unused Hellstone will be made in the core, fusing the people instead of blatantly killing them. Something to not rid entire chunks of civilization off the map. I gave this new blueprint back to central production, hopefully Techtronum doesn’t notice.

It seems it has worked. The new bomb was used, no one noticing the small changes. Techtronum’s manufacturers thought it was a simple upgrade to the design and carried on with its production. Reports had come in of people actually surviving the attacks, yet a good chunk of citizens were also affected in such extreme ways and they could simply not survive. Well, a step in the right direction, I guess. Ahem has helped out a lot, especially in finding out more about Hellstone, something that we foolishly used commonly without really understanding it.
But now…Techtronum has figured out the new design, and saw our small little changes. They know what we did. They tracked down the changes back to me, and possibly to Ahem. They’re gonna take a sample of a fused human survivor, found in a new attack location. We cannot allow this, for if the company used these new discoveries for their own purposes it could lead to even more devastating results than any previous bomb attack in the Wars. Ahem and I have tracked down where the sample is going to be retrieved, Techtronum shall have nothing in their hands.
