Allergen sits in the forest, he feels desperate. How could he let this happen? How could the evil magic get so close without him noticing? Maybe time has started to catch up with him, it flows differently in this world than it does in Tine.
He looks down at the orange stone that remains on the ground. Why did he not give it back at once, now everything became even more difficult. The stone belongs to the Princess. If he makes the magic in the stone work, it should bring him to her. It is worth a try. If only he can now use his magic to charge the stone more, it has been a while since he used his magic.
Allergen puts its paw on the stone and concentrates on the Princess. It seems to work, the stone glows and seems to want to pull away. He quickly picks up the chain with his mouth and begins to follow the stone that pulls away in front of him.
Allergen runs as fast as he can, the stone eagerly shows the way. He feels how it pulls him through the forest with a magical power.
He has only one thought; he must not lose her, not after all the years of searching, all he fought for would be in vain.
Penny wakes up. She opens her eyes but closes them again quickly. The light hurts and makes her head feel like it's exploding. The arm aches more than before and both wrists throb. She tries to move her arms but they are tied behind her back. She feels as best she can with her fingers and feels cold metal around her wrists. Wherever she is, it's very hot. She is sweating in the heat. She squints gently a couple of times and manages to hurry back until she reaches a wall. She manages to sit up straight against it. It spins in her head and her neck aches.
She slowly opens her eyes and tries to get used to the light. She notices that it is not very bright after all, the only thing that lights up the room is a torch on her left side. She manages to distinguish that she is in a room with cold stone walls and a stamped floor. After glancing over her shoulder, she can confirm that her wrists are tied together with handcuffs.
Maybe she should feel scared. Maybe she should call for help. But it spins way too much in her head of a thousand different thoughts for Penny to be able to focus on being afraid. It itches in her neck as she looks at her wrists and tries to loosen her hands. It makes her shudder and she turns her gaze to the room instead. In front of her the darkness is compact, the light from the torch does not reach there. She does not see what is there.
She sits quietly for a while, waiting for her eyes to get used to the darkness so that she may be able to discern something, whatever. She sees nothing, no matter how long she stares. Penny glares reproachfully at the torch, as if it is not doing its job properly.
"So you've woken up now?"
Penny turns her gaze to the dark part of the room, where the voice seemed to come from. A girl casually walks straight out of the darkness and approaches her. Penny wants to ask who she is, but she's weak and does not manage to form the words. The girl hush her.
"Save your energy, little friend."
She gets closer and Penny instinctively backs away. The girl smiles and raises her hands in a soothing gesture.
"Do not be afraid, I do not want to hurt you. You are in great danger, the cat you met in the woods wants to hurt you."
Penny sees in the dim light of the torch that it is a blonde girl Penny's age. She moves next to Penny's face and is now so close that Penny can feel the girl's breath against her cheek. The discomfort grows and it feels as if thousands of ants are crawling over the skin.
The girl takes no notice of this but starts going through Penny's pockets. with a cupped hand on Penny's chin she looks into her eyes.
Penny feels the discomfort grow even more in her body. She has never been so close to a stranger before. Do not touch me!Penny wants to shout that right out.
She tries to turn her head out of the girl's hands so as not to be so close, but the girl's grip on her is as hard and cold as the handcuffs Penny has around her wrists.
"We had to teleport you here for your own safety," the girl whispers.
Teleport? What is she talking about, teleportation does not exist. This must be a dream, there is no other explanation.
Penny does not know what to do with herself, the discomfort she feels is overwhelming. She has difficulty breathing and the nausea in her stomach is growing. The girl speaks as if she wants Penny well, but her body language feels threatening.
"Where did you hide the stone? " The girl asks. Her voice is smooth as honey but in her eyes glistens icy cold.
"That's enough, Elena," a harsh dark male voice is heard from the darkness.
The girl rolls her eyes. With a sigh, she releases Penny's face and Penny drops her head heavily against her chest. She hears the girl enter the darkness and a door slams shut. Penny fights so that panic and anxiety do not take over her completely.
Okay okay. There is a door on the other side of the room. Although of course there is, I do not see a door on this side so of course there is on the other side. Okay okay…
Penny feels exhausted, she can no longer keep her eyes open. The panic in her head goes from being a loud noise to a low hiss when the darkness envelops her once again.
"Here you are… Thank goodness, I was afraid I was too late."
The voice is a whisper and slowly pulls Penny out of his unconsciousness. She wakes up when something rough pulls on her cheek and she hears the whisper again. This time close to his ear.
"Princess… I have come to save you…"
She shrugs her shoulders to get rid of whatever is tickling her ear. She must have fallen to the floor while fainting . She sits up and looks around in disbelief.
Penny recognizes the voice. She turns her head and sees the little reddish-brown cat.
"Did you lick me in the face?"
He jumps up on her lap and Penny sees that he has her necklace around his neck. He stands on his hind legs and puts his front paws on her chest before gently pressing his head against her forehead.
"Do not worry Princess. I'll take you away from here."
Penny can not protest, can not ask questions. She feels something warm envelop her. The heat makes her close her eyes. Then everything becomes quiet.
The old-fashioned alarm clock on the bedside table rings and Penny slowly opens her eyes.
She's at home in her room, at least that's her roof. She stares for several seconds before turning her head and seeing the clock showing half past ten. Strange , Penny thinks, it should be Saturday. Why did I set the alarm yesterday?
She turns off the alarm clock with her hand and then sits up in bed, with her feet on the heart-shaped pink carpet.
She feels a pain around her wrists and lifts them to be able to see them. The wrists are red and sore. Has she been handcuffed?
Yes, she remembers something about it. But that would have been a dream, right?
"What really happened yesterday?" she mumbles to herself.
Was she so gone yesterday that she started hallucinating? Penny wonders if she fell at the lamppost yesterday and that it may have made her faint and thus started dreaming. The handcuffs must have been real though. Was she taken into custody by the police? How had she come home? And if so, did her mother know that Penny was arrested by the police? Penny really does not hope so, mother would be angry and sad at Penny if she did something she does not remember and it would seem that Penny would have been affected by something last night. No, it would be best if mother did not know anything about the handcuffs.
She gets up and puts on a long-sleeved sweater and a pair of soft pants. Meanwhile, she continues to think about the talking cat, he must also have been a dream. But that part felt so real, although talking cats do not exist. Of course, everything had been a dream. As she goes to the kitchen, she wonders if the dream can still mean something.
Penny stops. At the kitchen counter, Lisa squats down to feed a cat. A brownish-red cat with an orange tuft of hair on its head.
It… It looks just like the cat in my dream… But wait, did everything in the dream happen for real or is it just a coincidence? Does Lisa know anything about what happened yesterday? best to try to find out what she knows and what mom knows.
"Whose cat is that?" asks Penny and walks with played nonchalance to Lisa.
Lisa looks up at Penny in disbelief.
"What do you mean? You were the one who came home with him yesterday."
Penny just stares at Lisa. Is this a kind of joke? Does Lisa know more about what happened yesterday ?
"What do you mean? I came home with him?"
Lisa frowns.
"Yes? Are you not feeling well or? Don't you remember it?"
"I honestly do not know what happened yesterday. What do you know? Anyway, you can't just take in a cat like that, what if he is owned by someone? " , Says Penny and fixes her gaze on the cat.
"No chip and no tattoo. He was sitting outside your room last night, I could not just chase him out. Who knows what could happen at night. But are you not happy ? You have always wanted a cat!" , says Lisa and itches the cat tenderly behind the ears.
The cat closes its eyes and begins to purr. It seems to really enjoy the attention it gets.
"No, I've always wanted a ferret," Penny says ironically. "You've always wanted a cat! I'm serious, Lisa. This is not the right way to get a cat, even if he came with me home. " Lisa chose to ignore Penny and picks up the cat in her arms.
Penny thinks through the dream she had had, the cat was in a dream, so she can not help feeling uncomfortable in the cat's presence. She remembers Elena warning her about the cat, that he wants to hurt Penny. At the same time, Penny is not stupid. She has the answers right in front of her what happened, if she is to believe that the dream really happened. The cat Allergen has not hurt her - Elena has. Allergen has not bound her hands - Elena has. Allergen has not held her captive - Elena has. Suddenly Penny starts to relax a little more, it's just a cat. Though the cat had spoken. It had been about magic and Princesses and all that. Magic is not logical, it is not real. It would be ridiculous to even consider believing in any of that. At the same time, it's just a cat, and cats can not talk.
As if the cat can read minds, he turns his gaze to Penny and winks with his big eyes.
"Good morning Princess," the cat says cheerfully.
Penny backs up one step. No, the dream had only been a dream. This could not be real, she refuses to believe it.
I must have hit myself in the head. Or gone crazy…
Because if the dream is not a dream, it means that Elena has been real. Everything she exposed Penny to would have really happened. When the brain has digested it, more questions come to Penny's head. Everything happened after she met that cat. It must have something to do with him. Is he dangerous? It is better to be safe than sorry.
"Beware of him!" Warns Penny.
"Oh, quit it now, he's really cute!" Lisa protests and pats his head so he purrs.
Penny tries to keep her voice steady but fails.
"I mean it, Lisa. Here, let me take him," Penny extends her hands to Lisa as if to receive the cat.
Lisa shakes her head and turns away with the cat in her arms.
"I do not understand what is wrong with you sometimes. Are you angry because I like the cat? Or because it seems to like me too? My God, a cat can like more than one person, why do you behave so silly?"
Penny gets angry.
"I don't care if you like the cat or not! It can't stay here!"
"Somethings wrong in your head! Animal hater!"
Penny becomes completely speechless. Animal hater? Penny? She can not only tell the truth to Lisa, that she has to talk to Allergen in private, but then she is called an animal hater? Penny who gets a heartache just at the thought of an animal getting sick.
Their mother enters the kitchen with her hand over her forehead.
"Can you please stop arguing, I have such a headache."
"We're not arguing. Mom, can we keep him?" Lisa asks happily and turns to her mother .
"Have you brought home a cat?"
Penny sighs in relief, mom does not seem to know anything about what happened yesterday.
"He followed me, but I will take him out now, if only Lisa let go of him", responds Penny and reaches for the cat.
Daniella looks at her daughters before the gaze lands on the cat.
"Penny is right, we can not just keep him, Lisa. Maybe he belong to someone. "
"I have checked", says Lisa, still turned away from Penny so she can not reach the cat. "He has no tattoo or chip."
"It is not always possible to feel the chip. You need to see a veterinarian to check it." Daniella answers .
"But if I do and he's not chipped, can we keep him then?"
Daniella stands silent for a while without letting go of her gaze on the cat, which lies relaxed in Lisa's arms. She extends her hand and lets the cat smell her before scratching it under the chin. It purrs happily.
"He is very nice," says Daniella with a smile.
The cat smiles at her and looks very happy with himself.
"We can say this. I’ll book an appointment with the vet today to check if he is chipped or has any diseases. I’ll take a picture and look for him on Facebook. If he is healthy and no one else owns him, then you can keep him."
"Yes!"
"One more thing. You have to take care of him properly. It will be your responsibility."
"I promise " , Lisa exclaims and dances around with the cat.
"Nor can I promise that I can bear all the costs. It's a lot already as it is."
"No worries. I'll fix it, I have my birthday money!"
Penny stares angrily at her mother, she never has anything to say about, so sometimes it's best to just be quiet. But why does Lisa always get what she wants?
Lisa drops the cat on the floor and it walks up to Penny and tries to get in touch with her.
"Princess, I know you understand me."
"Ssh! What if they hear you," Penny hushes the cat.
"Please Princess, can you listen to me for a moment?"
"Quiet!" Penny raises her voice to the cat and when she comes to herself she turns to Lisa and her mother anxiously.
Daniella has just taken out a pill for her headache and poured a glass of water. With her hand halfway to her mouth, she stops and looks anxiously at her eldest daughter.
"Penny, who are you talking to? The cat? Are you not feeling well?" she asks.
Penny feels frustrated. Do they not hear the cat? Is it just Penny who understands him? Probably so.
"But my god Penny " says Lisa. "Is he meowing too loud?"
Penny gets annoyed at Lisa's comment, but chooses to ignore it.
Daniella walks up to Penny and puts her hand on her shoulder.
"How are you feeling hunny? Do you not like the cat?"
"She's a animal hater. She wants to throw it out just because I patted it," Lisa accuses.
Daniella strokes Penny's child.
"Maybe you should go and rest a little?"
"Yeah, sure." Penny sighs resignedly and pulls away from her mother's hand, she goes to her room and closes the door behind her.
