Eric Charl and The Way he Thinks

March 16, 2019 12:02 am

I woke up alone in the passenger seat. It's dark outside and the car is parked in some random cut-down hayfield. The first thought in my mind is damn, I've been abandoned in a hayfield. I open the door and step out to see Andrew laying on the side of the empty gravel road looking at the stars. He looks the most relaxed I've ever seen him.

He must've heard the car door open because he sat up and looked at me. For a quick moment, my thoughts were blank. It was as if everything that happened in these few days and all the consequences that will come from this don't matter. The only thing that mattered was the look on his face. To this day I've never been able to properly explain what that look was.

It wasn't sadness, it wasn't anger. It was more...the type of look someone makes when they break the rules. Freedom, Excitement, Guilt, Fear all at the same time. He called me over and I know it's cliché but it felt like my body moved on its own. I sat down back to back with him.

He starts to say something but decides not to. We sit in silence until the clouds cover the remaining stars. I feel him get up and I turn around and he holds out his hand. I grab his hand and he pulls me up. He looks at me and stutters. His face turns so red can see it through the darkness. He looks down as I laugh.

“We should get going.”  He says looking at the ground.

I shake my head a little and we start walking back to the car. We’re a good 13 feet away and I start sprinting. “Catch me if you can!” I scream while running as fast as I can.

“Not fair you got a head start!” I hear him call from behind me.

“You’re taller, it's totally fair!”

I’m about 6 feet from the car and I look back but I don't see Andrew. I slowed down thinking he was further behind than I thought. I suddenly feel someone grab me by my waist and lift me in the air. I shriek like a little girl even though I obviously know who it is. I hear Andrew laugh as his arms wrap around my waist. He squishes me so close that I can smell the shampoo in his hair.

He whispers in my ear. “Caught you”

I can feel my heart leave my body. I put my hands on his shoulders and push my face away from his. He looks at me and smirks.

“Does this mean I win?”

I can feel my face start to heat up. I look him in the eyes and smile. “Guess it does.” I put my hands on either side of his face. What am I doing? “Want a reward?” I’ve only known him for three days. What the hell am I doing?! I can feel his grip around my waist tighten.

“Is that an option?”

I can feel myself slowly getting closer to his face and my eyes shift to his lips.“Only for today.”

Soo, I met this guy at a party...I hate him. In fact, I think id be fine with us never meeting again. Unfortunately, he's obsessed with me or something. He wouldn't leave me alone even though I clearly wasn't interested and now we're running away together. You must be thinking you missed something. You did not, I am currently running away with a guy that I don't even know that well. That's why I'm here writing this journal. In case at any point in time, I go missing, at least this will last. At least the world will know what Eric thought...
