The Disciplinary Comittee's Black Sheep

I don't want to be here (Part 1)

I don't want to be here (Part 1)

Aug 14, 2021

Was she really serious about that? Did she really told that if I quit she would do the same? That was too much even if she was just playing around to keep quiet the students. And because of that the one that would have even more problems, would be me, the Disciplinary Comittee's Black Sheep.

After Vanessa said that ultimatum the things seemed to be slowing down, but I knew it wouldn't be easy for them just to accept me as part of the comittee. I was trying to leave the stage again when the principal called me. "That was... nice," she told, "I tried my best." "I see, by the way, Cassian, I need you to follow me, Vanessa, you too. I need to show both of you something."

After saying that the three of us started walking on a hallway I hadn't seen before, it hasn't classrooms or anything near apart of one door at the very end of it, and even without knowing, an idea of what it was started to appear on my mind. "This is..." I begun but the director ended my sentence, "the comittee's quartel, you will stay here whenever you are not in classes or sleeping as well, at least of course the duties of the comittee allow you to." She opened the door and what was in wasn't anything special, it was a big round table and chairs. "So we are nine," I said seeing the number of chairs that we had there, "in deed, the other ones should be hear soon, but while they come here, I need yo both of you to acquaintance, after all you are the president and vicepresident of the comittee."

I sighed, "Cassian," "Vanessa," she answered with the coldest tone I ever heared before, "don't get the wrong idea, I said what was needed to calm the students, and it was true, but I'm not going to treat you in a special form if that's what you are thinking." She was cold, but I couldn't care less if she was there to treat me in a special way or not. "Got it."

"I can see both of you will need time, but don't worry, you'll have plenty of time during your stop here on the comittee," it seemed like if she was enjoying this, actually, she must be doing it, "another thing we should know before the rest of the members are here with us?"

"There shouldn't be any big trouble for you, as you know the school always has been a place for excellence, even in the beginning of the school, never has been space for the problems or troublemakers, that means that today it wouldn't be different, but as you already saw Cassian, there are some students that disagree with your entrance as a no-high-status student," Vanessa widened her eyes. "Director, I was not aware of that, could you tell me what do you refer with "as you already saw"?" The director laughed at her and answered, "sorry for not telling you, I thought it wasn't necessary, Cassian stopped a fight between one of the new students and the son of the Cleir family," "I wouldn't call it fight director, the guy that was the victim wasn't in position to fight back, so maybe you could call it from what it really was, abuse."

Vanessa took her time to analize what was being told to her, after a few seconds she opened her mouth to reply but then fell silent. "you are right, it wans't such a big deal," she said after hesitantly re-thinking what she was abut to say. I grinned at her hesitation but she glared at me when she sa the smile in my face, "was this really necessary? I mean, making a black sheep the vicepresident of the comittee?" Even after hearing that nickname from other students, an even the principal, hearing it from Vanessa really took me with the low guard, she seemed to be against that discrimination and now beeing there, using it was something strange, but as always I didn't take that personal.

"It was necessay, not just for the sake of the new students, but because Cassian here, is as skilled in magic as you or maybe even more, and his magic is something you can not see every day." She looked at me asking for my consent to continue, and seeing the circumstances I nodded, "he uses shadow magic, that's something this place needed."

Vanessa failed to hide her amazement, and I couldn't blame her, after the magic started to spread around the world the more common elements were fire, water, earth and wind, with this the people that awakened other kind of magic were called "the ones". That term was forgotten with the time, maybe because different magic than the basic four elements stopped being that rare, but the shadow, light, time, and life and death magic was still considered as special, and for me, a commoner that has that kind of magic was just more special.

"I understand your amazement, but until the time comes, I hope you can hide the secret of Cassian's magic," Vanessa nodded, but asked something else, "if Cassian is hidding his migic, how in the world was he capable of stopping a fight?" I answered her this time, "that is because I use martial arts, I don't depend that much on my magic as the rest." Not just my magic, but in a world where this power was evereything, seeing someone that fought without magic was as weird as see someone with dark magic, "as I told you before, Vanessa, he is necessary for the comittee, stopping fights between students without hurting them is hard if you use magic, but for him is not that hart"

So that was it, the principal was decided to leave me on the comittee, and there was nothing neither of us could say to change her mind, and that was just the beginning of all my problems, because someone knocked the door.
