It hadn’t taken long for Karla and Brandan to come up with a plan to get more information while keeping them safe.
Karla’s surprising amount of knowledge would only be a boon, even if none of them had been expecting it.
Lilac wasn’t surprised when the others didn’t notice as they wandered off.
Blake could pride themself on their dislike on the majority of the people they met but it was truly Lilac that was invisible in a crowd.
They rubbed at their eyes some more, the strange overlays they had seen had dimmed, to an extent, making it easier to look around.
Lilac wasn’t too worried that they wouldn’t recognise the area, they had read enough fairy tales and myths to have a base to work on for any fantasy world.
It was why they had wandered away. They had wanted to go exploring, to see things they had only read about before.
Especially now.
One of Lilac’s most well-kept secrets was how bad their eyesight really was. The others had figured them blind or at least close to it with how strong the prescription on their glasses were. They couldn’t be further from the truth.
“Is anyone else here?” Lilac called out, smile dropping at the unfamiliar nature of their voice. It was far sweeter than theirs had ever been.
Nothing answered them except for the sounds of the world around them. There were animals hiding in the grass and trees, and the wind was slowly picking up.
“Even better.” They said to themself, eyes glowing purple as they made sure they couldn’t see anyone.
