She understands how difficult it is to raise a child on one's own because she has seen it firsthand. She saw how her mother struggled to raise her alone, with no one by her side. And she'll go to any length to compensate for her mother's sacrifices for her.
She is now sixteen and works at the market. "Hello! Hello and good morning! " She waved her hand and smiled at the shoppers in the market as she went about her daily business. She only needs to deliver all of the swords she purchased, and she'll be done for the day. Since she works in an armory shop where nobles come to buy swords or wooden swords for their knights, the armory has become popular among knights.
While she was arranging and repairing the products, some people approached her. That's always been the case. She has no idea, but people have told her she looks like a noble instead of a commoner because of her appearance, and her appearance clearly draws attention every time she hears it. She's known most of them for months; when she first started working at the market, it was easy to become acquainted with the people who worked there because they were all friendly. All of them were pretty good at jokes like that.
Initially, her mother was opposed to her working. She claim to be able to live without working. However, Hermione persists in pushing the idea of working until her mother agrees. The truth is, Hermione wants to make more money so that she can provide a better life for her mother. Her mother, Leona, was sickly, but she was always thinking about her daughter, Hermione. And Hermione wishes to do the same this time, making her mother happy in small ways.
Hermione also wishes to purchase books. Books aren't for commoners; they're so pricey that Hermione's five-month salary won't even cover the cost of one. The book was like gold to peasants. She sighed because of that thought. She hopes that she can buy one book in her life.
Hermione's thoughts were interrupted when the carriage came to a halt at the arrival point. It belongs to a noble family. One of the armory shop's regular customers. Hermione was assigned to deliver to this house twice a month, so she knew almost everyone. That's why Hermione became close to the lady of the house.
Someone was already waiting for them at the gate. She greets me with a gentle bow of her head. "Greetings, I'm here to send the items purchased in our armory shop."
The man, who appears to be the butler of the house, looks at her for a split second. "Please excuse me, my lady, are you Lady Hermione?" The butler inquired. Hermione was perplexed, as this was her first encounter with him. Is he a newcomer? But she eventually responded. "I am, indeed, Sir. And please do not call me a 'lady,' it doesn't fit for a commoner like me. Please address me solely by my given name. " Hermione responded politely.
"Ahem," the butler coughed, but agreed nonetheless. "I have forgotten to introduce myself, but Mr. Zelo, please call me that. For a moment, Countess Alston would like to talk to you. " Since Hermione couldn't refuse, she didn't need to answer. The countess would certainly say the words she said last time.
Hermione was led into the garden by the butler. Countess Alston would frequently visit the garden for a cup of tea or simply to relax. The Countess invited Hermione to tea every time she visited their home, so she became accustomed to it.
When Hermione entered, the elegant lady was alone with her tea. "Good day, Countess Alston." Hermione bowed slightly. Countess Alston is in her forties, like Leona. Her hair is a brownish color, and her eyes are a hazelnut color. Just by the way she dresses and moves, you can tell she's a noble.
The Countess gave her a friendly smile. She appears to be pleased to see Hermione, which is correct. It's been a while, Hermione. Make a cup of tea for yourself. " She motioned to the maid nearby, who poured tea into Hermione's cup.
Hermione bowed slightly before taking a seat next to the lady. "I appreciate it." She spoke to the maid. The maid was taken aback, but Hermione was deafeningly quiet. "It's always like this," she thinks.
Hermione immediately inquired as to why the Countess summoned her. She's probably aware of what it is. "May I inquire, my lady, why you summoned me here?" Hermione asked, even though she probably didn't need to, because she knew what the lady would say.
"You're well aware of the reason. Please be my daughter-in-law. " The lady sipped her tea and smiled slightly. "I'd have thought you were a noble if I hadn't known your family was commoners, Hermione. Your appearance alone is enough to make you appear as a noble lady. " The lady added directly.
Everyone she met made her think of Countess Alston. She'd be referred to as a noblewoman. Or, as she most likely says, she is not a commoner. Her feminine features are flawless. Her entrancing golden eyes and sparkly golden hair with a touch of silver are always a sight to behold. But she is undeniably a commoner because her parents are commoners. That's what her mother told her.
Hermione is well aware that Countess Alston desires that she marry her son. Her son is only a year older than Hermione's, so there shouldn't be any issues. If someone can prove Hermione's commoner ancestry, Countess Alston will buy a title for her. Hermione's physical appearance does not even qualify her as a commoner.
"Thank you, Countess, but I must decline because a mere peasant like myself would not fit into your household. I wouldn't even dare to attempt it. " She gave a small smile and bowed as she apologized.
Countess Alston exhaled a sigh. The Countess knows what Hermione will answer, but she still wants Hermione to be her daughter-in-law. Hermione will undoubtedly make an excellent daughter.
"I can tell you how many times you refused, but I know you'll always turn me down. And I won't force you. "
Countess Alston looks around. "I desperately wanted a daughter before I had a son. My son is now busy in the academy, while my husband is at the palace. I wanted to have a daughter until I met you, Hermione. I've always assumed you'd make an excellent daughter for me. " The Countess stated.
"Countess," Hermione said, "your son will undoubtedly meet a more suitable wife for him." But, on second thought, Hermione realizes that in nobility, you don't always have the freedom to choose who you want to marry, which Hermione despises. She doesn't want anyone to tell her who she should marry or what she should do with her life.
The countess laughed. She appears to be having a pleasant conversation with Hermione. Hermione's beliefs always amazed her, because Hermione only believed in her own opinion. "If you said so,"
the Countess realized it was getting late and felt bad because she had mostly taken Hermione's time today. "It's getting late, oh my goodness. I took up even more of your time. Is that alright? " The Countess's face was filled with regret.
"Of course, ma'am." Hermione smiled once more. In Hermione's opinion, Countess Alston is always a good person. She claims to have a strong resemblance to her mother. There is, however, a small gap. Most likely as a result of their exceptional outstanding. Hermione despises nobles and refuses to associate with them since she knows how nobles maltreat commoners. She was aware that the noble life was difficult, and she did not wish to live it. She only wants to live in peace.
"Thank you for your time, Countess." Hermione stood and bowed before departing. It's certainly exhausting, but it's also a lot of fun. Countess Alston was the first noblewoman to treat Hermione calmly.
Fortunately, Countess Alston was the last customer, and she could go home after reporting to her boss at the store. Because it takes longer to get home, Hermione would purchase the items or foods that her mother requires before she goes home.
Hermione went out of the food store immediately after purchasing food, but she realized she had forgotten to purchase her mother's medicine!
She dashed to the store where she always bought her mother's medicine because it was usually closed by the time the sun set.
She collided with someone while running! She hopped a little because of the huge-broad body in front of her, but her mind was still on her mother's medicine.
"I'm sorry, but I have to leave!" She bowed three times faster, without looking at the person she had bumped into, and ran faster, as if she was being pursued by someone!
Hermione was just running, not realizing that the person she ran into would play a significant role in her peaceful life.
The man she ran into, on the other hand, only stood there staring at her.
"Although it's dark, I believe she has golden eyes. Don't you agree? " he asked the other two men beside him.
He gave a mysterious smile.
He appears to have discovered gold instead of a hidden gem.
