I was dead, at least I was pretty sure I was. I heard music, the sound of drums, and rhythmic chanting. Strange faces reminiscent of the paintings from surrealist artists like Salvador Dali and Picasso, Floated through the air. I was walking on a path of ever-changing sounds with each beat of the drum a step of a different color appeared in front of me. All around me was pitch blackness beside the images that floated around me. I saw some of my memories of me working in my office calling clients and scheduling appointments. My Time in school in Salem, the warm air of autumn and the crunch of fresh leaves beneath my feet.
Memories of being held at gunpoint over a computer in my beat-up van on easter Sunday all those years ago, I could feel my real body shaking as if I was fighting to stay alive, and the farther up the steps I walked the more I lost touch with my body, I felt cold and intense fear that I was in hell. Eventually, I came to a frozen lake with a golden throne in the middle. I felt drawn to it as if it was inviting me to sit in it. So I did and at this moment my world would change forever.
As I sat on the throne two figures appeared beside me. On my left was a beautiful woman with green hair, yellow eyes, and blood-red horns, and two my left was a man with a golden aura and long black hair. He gave off a radiance that made it hard to look at him c directly. Two giant wheels of fire separated by two feet of space appeared in front of me as the wheel started to spin. In front of me panels of images spun downward each panel showed an image of what appeared to be different places that I failed to recognize. The man said “ My son your life was wasted on the world and for that typically you'd be destined to eternal agony, however, we are here to offer you a chance to try again. Walk into the wheel and be reborn or choose to suffer” With that, the two of them disappeared with the woman letting out a chuckle but not a word.
Seeing only two options one of which seemed to be nothing less than some semblance of hell I chose the wheel as I stepped through it everything went white and then I lost whatever consciousness I had left.
