A great earthquake shook the earth. Historians say that the roar of the serpent traveled through all the rivers of Yggdrasil, all the 9 realms were alerted to get ready for a possible catastrophe, right with the apologies from the kind goddess.
She managed to grow enough to have the size advantage and not to cause any collateral damage for the people of New Asgard, which Thunder protected with a spell.
After the shock, Morgan shook away some tears and ran to the time machine, and altered it so that its configuration was similar to that of Tessa's portals.
She tried all three of the main locations from Tessa's previous encounters with Thunder, she was nowhere to be found. Desperate, and tearful, Morgan thought she wouldn't find her, but it got even worse. She found the scroll with the prophecy, and her heart sank low.
Tracking the location of their friend, Anthony and Roper managed to travel to the United States, after hearing someone knock, Morgan ran to the door, hoping it was Tessa. Yet she ran into both men, one more excited than the other.
- OMG! You’re Morgan Stark! - Roper hit the redhead on the shoulder and glared daggers at him, - Who are you? - she asked reaching for the remote that activates her armor, - I’m Anthony, he’s Roper, we’re looking for Jörmi...Tessa - he sounded so excited while Roper was on high alert, noticing that she wasn’t there.
Morgan handed them the scroll still sniffling, - I’m afraid we might’ve lost her forever – the men examined the paper, Anthony had a depressed look, almost gave in to cry, but Roper’s reaction was different.
- I tried looking for her, but she wasn’t anywhere – Morgan cried, - You tried the Waterloo Bridge in London? The Nigerian border of the Sahara? Or Krasnoyarsk Krai in Russia? - Roper growled looking down on Morgan.
- Yes, yes, and yes, I tried every place Thunder had a rampage in – she said standing up on him.
- We may have to try New Asgard, since it’s a family matter – Anthony added, - Are you suggesting Tessa went back to Scotland to die? – Morgan asked crossing her arms.
- Do we have another option? – Anthony touched Roper’s shoulder to calm him down a bit, who just seemed to shook his head in response. - You two seem to know her far too well, are you two her lovers? - she joked.
- You wish, no, we’re her family, and you? her girlfriend? – this time Roper was in his funny pirate self, he gave Morgan a tap on the side, as a sign of challenge, - No, her future wife – while both were staring dagger at each other Anthony laughed.
- Kitty have teeth, I respect that – the redheaded hugged the girl by her shoulder, softly petting her head, - No time for clever sneer, you dim-wits, we need to go and help her, after the fight we might lose her for good, and neither of us want that – Morgan let the guys inside.
- How? – Anthony asked looking around and tripping on a piece of metal on the floor.
- Give me the coordinates - She commanded, to which Roper searched in the screen attached to his forearm, - 55.916866618966736, -2.1409607386235847 – He dictated the digits as clearly as he could, because with nerves and haste, some were confused.
- The machine needs to calibrate, we’ll be there in five minutes, ten tops – the wait almost ate Anthony alive.
When they crossed the portal, it turned out that they were in the wrong place. A fisherman told them that Tessa had sent Thunder to protect the village just in the case of Thor showing up, but they weren't there.
- Fuck!! What do we do now? – Morgan fell to her knees feeling defeated, - It’s all my fault, if I hadn't hurt her, none of this would have happened -
- Don’t flatter yourself, but yes you hurt her - Roper was beyond his senses, surprisingly Anthony was calmer than his partner. - We don't have time to play "find the culprit", cause’ we know you, darling, are the one at fault – Anthony tried not to sound so rough.
- If you are so mad at me then fight me, I can take any punishment you seem fit - The girl in her lovely innocence was blind to the damage that these words might cause, and Roper had noticed it.
- If your punishment depended on me, I would force you to beg me on your knees to end your life, you will wish you had never met her – Roper towered her, puffing his chest to make himself look mor menacing. She tried to get help by looking at Anthony but he wasn’t on her side, - I share my friend’s sentiment, dear -.
- What’s stopping you then? - She intensified her tone of voice to try to catch up with him, but she only managed to get a laugh from the brunette. - Tessa is a pacifist, she would never forgive us – Roper took a strand of her hair as he positioned himself behind her, - Also, she has taken a certain attachment to the lacks of you – with a nudge on her head he walked away from her.
- You mean she cares about me? -.
- In a way, yes, or why did you think she forgave you so quickly? - Roper was about to lose his well-built temper, his dreadlock was turning into a volcanic red, - Maybe now you’ll learn to appreciate her, she’s a noble soul – Anthony stood in front of him, willing to try and soothe his friend.
- I don’t even know how I feel about her, when she’s not there I can’t eat, I pace, I never paced before, at least not as much. I also bought lingerie! And sent her a picture! I feel...empty without her around, with her cute smile, and wandering eyes, you should’ve seen her in Sakaar, she had the prettiest dress, and, oh, she looks so attractive and graceful without even try... Next to her I feel like I can breathe again – Morgan was confused.
- I just don’t know, but I’m sure I don’t want to stop figuring out – she stated very determined.
- And you were crying your bloody eyes out because you don’t know? Incredible – Roper laughed at her, His way of dealing with anxiety and not knowing what the fuck was going to happen to his friend was killing him.
- How do we get to her? - Roper and Tessa's relationship is different, in his 42 years, Roper felt almost like a father figure to the young Jötunn, he loved her with all his heart, and he did not want to sit and wait for a miracle.
- Wait, try 68.47178701881465, 13.86369686788941 – she typed it as fast as Anthony dictated, - What’s in there? – Roper asked looking at him weird.
- Odin died there, Tessa told me that if she was going to end her uncle, she was going to bury him next to his father – the portal opened again after another five minutes, and as soon as the three of them walked though, they faced something amazing.
- Oh...my...goddess – Morgan gasped, while the rain soaked her clothes.
From among the clouds, the lightning, the violent torrential rain and the waves that took dangerous heights, the serpent emerged from the depths, hitting the mountains of the island with her long body.
Thor, in comparison with the animal, looked quite small, even more when Jörmungandr opened her mouth to bite him, but Thor was faster, hitting her body with lightning blasts constantly, making the animal roar in pain.
- It will hurt less if you stop resisting, Tesseract – Thor shouted brandishing his ax to try to cut off her head, but, contrary to her size, the serpent was much more agile than the god.
- Too bad for you, I ain’t yielding, not until the light leaves your eyes – The snake's voice was so big, some of the words were lost in the wind.
- Who’s winning? – Morgan asked avoiding a boulder that was coming her way, - I have no idea! – the three of them ran to a safe position, fairly away from the destruction, - I’ll see you in Hel! – Jörmungandr cried, and the snake's collision with the ocean sent a wave of water and wind so intense that it struck the islands, almost destroying them. If it weren't for Roper's great strength that shielded Anthony and Morgan, the other two would have been blown away.
Tessa's magic prevented the tsunami from reaching a bigger size, so it ended up being nothing more than a drop in the middle of the blood and the scales that floated among the foam on the shore at the beach.
- Where is she? – Morgan asked, letting go of Roper's thick arms, looking for any sign of her, but nothing could be seen for miles, until the mist and clouds dissipated.
The snake was resting with her head laying on a piece of rock, heavy breathing and with her mouth bleeding waterfalls. One of the fangs fell out when she bit Thor, who in response to the pain struck the tooth with his ax so hard that it ripped it out with a single swing.
When the mist got thicker, the snake’s body dissolved in the water, leaving Tessa on the shore. - There she is! - Morgan pointed while laughing and crying, - She’s alive! - all of them froze when they saw her walking towards Thor, he was barely standing, his feet submerged in the ocean, watching the sun set on the horizon as the venom slowly started its horrible duty.
Morgan saw both of them exchange a few words, before Thor walked the nine steps according to the prophecy. And finally, he fell surrendered to the poison, his body became paralyzed and he stopped breathing, his heart stopped beating. The night sky out of nowhere was filled with stars, and the body of the god was reduced to spores of light that floated until they were lost in the sky.
- Thor Odinson, a brother, an uncle, a father...A hero. I bid you take your place in the halls of Valhalla, where the brave shall live forever. Nor shall we mourn, but rejoice, for those who have died the glorious death - Tessa lit a candle on a small wooden boat, which she let float out to sea, until the flame of the candle burned it out.
The last of the Odinson, the last member of her blood family, died because of her. Tessa’s heart could be further broken.
Tessa bent down and squatted on the sand, took some water with her hands and painfully cauterized the cut on her lip. - Dritt! Jævla!* - (Shit! Son of a bitch! *) she cried.
- Tessa! - The Jötunn stood up and turn around to watch Morgan running her way, with a smile on her face, that suddenly fade into a scared look, - Watch out! - she yelled. Just as the prophecy said, the stormbreacker was coming to hit her at an incredible speed.
It was just like when you fall in love, the time seems to go slower, almost as it’s completely frozen. There was no sound, no thoughts, no words. Morgan was never going to get to her in time, Tessa had no chance of stopping the ax.
She took a deep breath, grabbed hold of the scepter, closed her eyes, ready for the impact. Her muscles retracting, getting ready to absorb some of the pain. She was ready...but it never came.
There were some futuristic sounds before a doorway opened behind her, four armed guards surrounded her.
- Standard sequence violation. The branch is growing at a stable rate and slope – one of the guards, a woman spoke, approaching Tessa while checking on a screen, - Variant identified – she stopped at a few meters, the other three had taken defensive positions.
- Excuse me? - Tessa asked, pulling back, to take strategic advantage, terrified and alert, since the guards carried what appeared to be weapons, but she didn't have the time to find out, not when Morgan was still running towards her.
-. On behalf of the Time Variance Authority, I hereby arrest you for crimes against the sacred timeline, hands up – The weapons on the other guards made a sound that gave Tessa goosebumps, like they were powering up, - You’re coming with us – the female guard spoke again.
- Crimes? Sacred timeline? Thunder, your father just died, I can’t believe you’re being this kind of an asshole at a time like this - The uniformed guards began to move to completely surround her, the woman in the middle also activated her weapon and pointed the bright yellow light at her, - Last chance, variant – the woman warned.
- I’ll go with you, relax, but at least can I say goodbye? - Tessa asked pointing to Morgan, who had a full armed cannon on her shoulder, - Get away from her, or I swear, I'll open fire and burn you alive! - with one quick glance at Morgan and then at Tessa’s “see what I mean” face, the guard commanded the others to walk away.
- Relax Astro-Girl, it’s ok – Tessa pushed the cannon down with her hand, - Fuck that’s old – though the laughs the brunette tried to hold back a lot of tears. - It’s a great movie – humor wasn’t going to make the moment less hurtful, and both girls knew that.
- No, it isn’t - Morgan clung to Tessa’s waist, almost starting to pull her away from them, - Don’t go, please, Tessa...don’t go – the Jötunn lowered herself just enough to lock their lips in a kiss, - I’ll find a way back to you, I promise... here – Tessa took off a shiny purple pendant she wore under her armor, and put around Morgan’s neck.
- Leave the balcony window open, for me...ok? - Morgan nodded and kissed her again.
The guard woman walked up to Tessa and put a collar around her neck, - Ouch, hey! - she hissed, the woman grabbed her arm and pulled her towards the portal, - Reset the timeline - she commanded as one the guards placed a tube of the sand that started glowing after a button push.
- What is that? Where are we going? - the woman kept pulling on her arm. Although she had the instinct to fight back and rip off the woman's hand, Tessa resigned herself to cooperate, - For your information, I can walk well on my own - she said in a polite but irritated tone, to which the guard released the forced grip, - Goodbye Morgan – she let one single tear leave her eye, while lowering her head to fit through the portal.
- Where are we? - Tessa whispered looking all around to the orange and white walls, - Welcome to the TVA -.
The end?...
