Everyone climbed on those huge dragons, Lyle, Azel and Joana went on one and the ghosts on another, the dragons were really fast but their scales emanated a light magic that protected us from the force of the wind and we only felt a light breeze, few things were as beautiful as that blue sky and its sea of clouds with the brightness of the sun in the background. And so went hours of flying listening to the ghosts frolicking in the dragon next door until nightfall.
Lyle had already fallen asleep from boredom, and Azel decided to make his first move.
- Hey, hey blondie. - whispered Azel.
- My name is not blondie, you... - replied Joana in a high tone.
- Okay, okay, keep it down, Joana.
- What do you want? - replied Joana crossing her arms in a frown.
- What's this about Lyle knowing heaven.
- A while ago he lived with us.
- But then why did he come to purgatory?
- I'm not sure, but some say he came to purgatory after arguing with the virtue of prudence.
Azel looked confused at Lyle who was sleeping behind her.
- Well, well, this quiet guy had a fight with someone.
- He wasn't always like this, he used to smile more. Anyway, I'm going to sleep good night.
- Hey hey don't sleep, aaah that's no good, I wanted to know more. - whispered Azel indignantly - it seems there's no way, I'll just watch the scenery while sleep doesn't come.
Azel walked around the dragon's back to its head and sat on the top of its head, watching the landscape. A few hours later Azel was already falling into naps, but every time she almost fell asleep she came to her senses, until one moment she lost her battle to sleep off the dragon.
- Careful. - Lyle holds Azel in his arms. - We're too high for you to fall asleep on a dragon's head.
Azel was startled slightly, but soon calmed down and looked into Lyle's eyes.
- The view here is much prettier. - said Azel.
- Really, the stars are beautiful.
- Lyle.
- Yes?
- Why are you so cold to me sometimes? - Azel looked him straight in the eye. - Do you still blame yourself for that day?
Lyle was silent for a few seconds and then bowed his head, let out a slight sigh, and answered Azel with a smile.
- Sorry . I'll try hard not to give that impression anymore. - replied Lyle, returning the look. - You're tired, take my overcoat to protect yourself from the cold.
- Okay, but what about you?
- I'm going to watch the stars some more. - Azel... in the sky...
- Did you say something Lyle?
- Not much, good night.
- Good night.
Lyle continued to look up at that sky.
I thought I had seen something beautiful that afternoon, but when it got dark and looked up at the sky I saw something really beautiful, the dark sky with countless stars looked like a sea of little fireflies but what really caught my attention was that when I lay down on my back there was a huge moon whiter than ever above me, that moon gave me the same feeling as when I was near Azel.
A few minutes later Lyle was already asleep, he woke up with the sunlight hitting his face along with the leaves falling from the trees. Lyle opened his eyes slowly due to sleep, but saw the old man very close to his face.
- Hello, Master Lyle.
- Hmmm, I slept too well to be scared, old man. - said Lyle stretching. - There's nothing better than stretching.
- I need new techniques. - replied the elder sadly.
- So you really were scaring me on purpose?
- Look, Lyle, we're here! - cried Joana.
- You got lucky, old man.
- Hehe, you look better, master. - replied the old man, smiling.
- My wound is almost healed. - said Lyle, touching his chest. - Being a specter has its advantages.
- Come on, I'm curious to see what heaven looks like! - exclaimed Azel.
Everyone got off the dragon and walked through the forest, Lyle was amazed that a place like that existed in purgatory, monkeys jumped on the branches of the trees and squirrels passed between Azel and Joana's legs, and in the background you could hear the singing of birds mixed with the light wind that blew the leaves off the trees. After a few minutes of walking they came upon an unusual place.
- A tower? - asked Lyle.
- Yes, let's go inside. - replied Joan.
Upon entering, the only thing I saw was a huge empty space with only a few windows in the walls where the sunrays entered and a magic circle in the center.
- Where is heaven, Joan? - asked Azel.
- Calm down Miss Azel, everyone stay in the center of the circle with me.
- Hey Lyle, is the sky nice? - asked Azel with an excited look on his face.
- More than you know.
- Here we go! - exclaimed Joana.
SHHHHHHHHHH... ZUM
An enormous white light came out of the circle transforming the tower into a golden spear that rose into the sky.
- We're flying! - shouted Azel.
- Quiet! we are in the astral line. - said Joana with a worried face.
- You're so annoying, Jeanne... but what is the astral line?
- This is where souls stay asleep while they don't have a body to go to in the human world. - - It would be terrible if they woke up.
- I'm sorry.
- No problem, we finally arrived.
Everything was as I remembered it, a huge green field with a light breeze that moved the grass on the ground, a little further away on the horizon was paradise, the village where the angels lived but nothing brought me more nostalgia than that beautiful giant castle. Its gold ornaments on the outside that contrasted with the white made it even more beautiful, at the top of the castle, the throne room was still flying the flag with a cross and a sword crossing each other.
- This place hasn't changed a bit. - said Lyle with a smile.
- Come on, Lyle, some little girls missed you.
Arriving at the castle, Lyle and the others were faced with a huge gate with diamond buckles in the shape of wings and the drawing of two archangels with books in their hands, one on each door.
- What now, Jane? - said Lyle.
- Don't worry," said Lyle. - Hey, I'm back! Open the gate! - cried Joan.
- Wouldn't it be easier just to knock? - asked Azel.
Two guards who were inside heard Joana and slowly opened the gate, but as they opened the gates Lyle and the others came across a peculiar person who was passing by.
- Lyle?
- Gabriel?
- Joana?
- Gabriel?
- Lyle?
- Yes, me.
- Well well, but this is wonderful, when did you come back? How long have you been here?
Gabriel ran out screaming to the four corners, and before you knew it there were three children in the center of the room.
- You are back! - said the three children in chorus with tears in their eyes.
- No wonder he's the old man's messenger. - said Lyle, scratching his head. - Looks like you've grown up.
- Lyle, we thought you were never coming back.
- Don't be dramatic, I never said I wasn't coming back. - said Lyle, bending down to the children's height.
- But there's one of us who's waited a long time for you. - Come on over here to the front.
- O-oh, it's been a long time.
- Don't say that, Hope; for you virtues it can't have been that long.
- Don't call me that.
- Okay okay Lilia.
- Could you take us to our rooms? - I haven't had a good rest since yesterday. - said Joan
- Yes we can. This way.
There were two corridors, one on the left and another on the right, facing the entrance gate there were two stairs, one on the right and another on the left that led to the same corridor that was much longer than the others, Lyle, Joana, Azel and the virtues followed the left corridor where their rooms were. After a few minutes of walking, they came to a room with a number one sign on the door.
- There, your room is still the same, nobody has touched it since you left, brother Lyle.
- Thank you Lilia, but pay attention, be careful with Azel, she will be a lot of trouble. - replied Lyle
- Hey, Lyle, don't send kids to take care of me.
- Okay, fine. - said Lyle in a sarcastic tone. - Well, until later, come see me, little ones.
- We will. - replied the three of them in chorus.
Then Azel and Joanna and the virtues continued down the hall.
- How long since I've been here? - Beyond that door is a little of my past. - whispered Lyle.
