*Easton's POV*
"Babe!" An excited voice pulls me from my sleep. Grunting, I roll over on the bed and squint at whoever is shaking me.
"Pumpkin?" I croak, my voice hoarse from sleep. Landon stands over our bed, tightly clutching the budget folder to his chest. He had insisted that I go to bed without him so he could keep working. "What time is it?"
"3 A.M.," he shrugs casually, and my eyes widen.
"Landon! You've been working for nearly twelve hours!" I scold him. "You should've gone to bed."
He shakes his head rapidly, causing his golden hair to bounce. My thoughts wander to another activity that makes his hair bounce, and I bite my lower lip.
"I couldn't sleep," Landon says, practically buzzing with excitement. "But I think I figured it out!"
"Figured what out?"
He rolls his eyes and thumps my forehead, making me yelp. "What do you think? I figured out a way to pull together the funds for the school!"
"What?" I gasp, suddenly wide away. Landon squeals happily, flicking on the lights and setting the folder on the bed. He talks rapidly, shifting through the pages as he explains how we can move around some of the finances. His plan includes merging training sessions, which won't be too bad. However, he also suggests closing our pack spa, which I know will upset a lot of wolves.
"We don't need our own spa," Landon argues. "There are plenty of spas in town the wolves can use."
"But this one is tailored towards wolves specifically, when the ones in town are for the humans."
"Easton," Landon starts seriously, placing a hand on his hip. "A spa is a luxury. A school is mandatory. If we want another school, we need to close the spa. End of story."
"Okay," I cave, knowing he's right. It's not like I haven't thought of that before. The only thing that's held me back is the worry of upsetting my pack. Luckily for me, Landon seems more concerned with providing this pack with something it really needs, rather than being a people-pleaser. My eyes shine with pride. Landon really is my perfect Luna.
"Lastly," Landon continues. "I think we should have a fundraiser ball to raise the remaining funds. We can invite packs from the surrounding areas. Our pack is the biggest and wealthiest; I don't doubt others are dying to visit."
"What makes you think they'll donate us the money?" I inquire skeptically.
"It's for the pups," Landon states, as if it's the most obvious thing in the world. "If we have the pups there, no one is going to say no to their adorable faces. I mean, come on. Who doesn't want to help children who need an education?"
"That's a really good idea," I praise him with a wide smile. "I love it, pumpkin."
The tips of Landon's ears turn red as he smiles with delight. My mate is so perfect. He was able to come up with a solution to a problem I've been struggling with for two years. Every day, I'm more and more amazed by how strong and intelligent he is. Stretching up, I press my lips against his soft mouth. Landon hums, wrapping his arms loosely around my neck. I deepen the kiss, pulling him into bed with me.
'Only a weak leader relies on help from others,' the voice taunts, throwing a bucket of cold water over this otherwise perfect moment.
