The impact of the sudden explosion was unavoidable. A great force threw me high into the air, making my body hit the hard wall with the incredible strength, in just seconds.
Ow.
And then, falling down, grazing the concrete wall, leaving a trail of crimson blood. Finally, the cold, crude ground welcomed me again. Something doesn't really want me to get out alive from all of this, right? Smited unexpectedly like that from the place I was just standing on, what in the entire hell even was that explosion?
I was lying painfully on the ground, right by the wall, being unable to move my battered body even an inch, because of the pulsing pain. The high-pitched noise was ringing in my ears, making me confused... I felt sick, sick of it all, of trying, of running, of thinking that I finally reached the door to my exit... And when I put the key into the keyhole, it constantly falls out of my shaking hands, down onto the ground. And I have to reach for it again, but something doesn't want me to do it, an unknown force blocks me from grabbing the little key and trying again. But this malicious power is not enough to keep me away from it, from my escape. In my mind, I reached for the key once again, despite the pain... Sisyphean work? No, I just have to hold the key tightly, don't allow it to fall down again, and just... turn the key in the lock... I'm really screwed, but I can't give up just yet. I almost reached the end of my escape, I want to r-run...
Lying hopeless and disorientated, I slowly opened my eyes, as my hearing sense was coming back to me gradually.
The ground started to shake firmly. What was happening? Coming from the end of the area, I heard the slowly rising sound of marching footsteps. One... five... fifty... Wait...? I couldn't count the amount of people that were coming closer to me, slowly, but getting louder and louder. The noises of live hord were echoing lively through the closed area. The blur from my vision finally disappeared, and the astounding sight that I saw with my own eyes, held my breath. With shock, I opened my eyes widely, to better behold the legendary sight I was a witness of. In pain, being unable to move, react, I watched.
One of the huge and tall walls enclosing the big square area, that I was trapped in, was blown up to smithereens. Different sized harsh blocks of concrete were scattered, lying all around, creating the scene of an unexpected apocalypse. Overwhelming cataclysm, with the bodies all around, and dense dust floating softly in the air, dancing with the ashes. It imitated a theatrical curtain, that could raise any minute, showing us the opening act of the show. And it did.
Black silhouettes were emerging from the floating void, getting with every second more and more visible, sharper, closer, louder. More of them were coming with every second. A mass of the human beings arose, coming from behind the dusty curtain. Stomping shoes noises powerfully filled the place of utter destruction. And finally, they stopped. Standing tall, all along the destroyed wall's length, creating a barrier with their own bodies, many lines of people aligned still. And then, suddenly, but simultaneously, the sounds of the lifting weapons came to my senses. Then I realized.
The force of the Order Officers. More than I have seen in my entire, short life. The squadron filled the entire space of my sight, pointing their advanced and dangerous weapons into the one person.
Kneeling on the bloody battlefield with many dead bodies, and being down before twice as much alive — Officers, all wanting to slay him. He was looking down, with his long and black hair hanging from his hooded figure. The blue-eyed.
The seconds lasted long, magically. Both of the parties waited, waited for the breakthrough moment, in which they could start the massacre. One against many. I wondered which could win, who was stronger. Those masked two... they took out loads of experienced soldiers... I don't even know how they did it... It's impossible, is it? Now, what can a one man do, all alone? Now, he doesn't stand a chance. Until the battle starts, I can't move, because I will surely catch some attention, but... can I? Wait... Maybe I'm the trigger to this fight? Maybe I can turn the attention aside from me trying to escape... But... Who do I really want to win..?
Well, I don't care. Order Officers, or this mysterious guy. Both are my mortal enemies. I don't care for who wins in this. I just need to get hell out of here. Alive.
I tried to force my body to move. With difficulty, mixed with pain, I searched the area closest to me with my right hand, hoping to find something useful... They still wait... The peak point... It's coming closer... I feel it...
My hand moved back and forth through the heavy dust and sharp rocks. I could throw one of them, but would that really be the best way? I tried to reach further... I felt a clothing touching my fingertips. A body of an Order Officer. Maybe he has something useful in there...
In one of the pockets, I touched something very little and cold, metallic. I examined by touch the object... I slowly reached for it and brought it before my sight.
It was a whistle?! Hell yeah.
I didn't have time to hesitate for my decision. I took a large breath into my hurting lungs, and blew it with all of my force out into the small thing, my last resort.
The whistling sound echoed loudly through the air, making the still floating dust magically vibrate in the air, dancing the last seconds before the breakdown.
Laying on my side, facing the intriguing sight, I saw everyone turn their covered heads into my direction. I stopped breathing, as if I feared that my every move could potentially lead to something horrible. Scared, I wondered if I did a good thing...
I could swear that in this deadly silence lasting only a second, I heard a quiet laugh.
I didn't need to worry anymore, did I?
Within the seconds that Order Officers turned their attention to me, a humble body lying beside the wall, like many others around, suddenly a blue light flashed, all along the standing soldiers. A sharp and glowing line on the height of their legs, and the masked man standing before them, with his hand in the air. They couldn't do anything more.
All of them stopped looking at me and realized that the lone fighter has made his first move, an opening. Without any orders, I saw these men instinctively rush forward, screaming in the battle, facing their weapons once again into the man. But before any trigger could be pulled, blue-eyed flicked his hand softly in the air, and this lighting line whisked with and unearthly speed, cutting through the first lines of the fighters. The dark blood greatly burst out of their legs, into the air, making them all fall onto the ground. But some of them in the front were still, but barely, standing, and in the back, I could see a party of soldiers being untouched by the attack. The ones that were left didn't have time to think. The triggers were pulled automatically, unfinishing series were being shot in the direction of the standing masked man.
But wait! He wasn't there anymore?
I heard loud screams from the far back of the area, where the armed soldiers were. The black silhouette of the masked warrior was moving with the speed of the lightning, leaving anything that encountered him, defeated, falling mercilessly on the cold ground. Body after a body. And the bullets whistling in the air.
He dodged them all.
But the thing that wondered me was, why wasn't he fighting like that amongst me? I shot him, I kicked him, I run away! I felt strong and victorious, but now, seeing the massacre happening before me, I truly wonder why? Why me? Why did he treat me like that?
I closed my eyes. I heard screams after screams, bullets after bullets, even some explosions. There were people dying right next to me, and I couldn't do anything. My body was still hurting so much. But I knew that my time ticked, and If I don't get up in time, and try to escape, after he finishes his work, he will come for me. He won't let me go after all of what I've seen. But... Maybe I shouldn't run... All of those people dying right now... Even if they are Order Officers... The people I hate the most... My deathly enemies... I pity all of them. Their lives that have come to an end. If I come out of this alive, but they don't...
I felt something wet coming on my leg. Something... Was licking me... What?
I opened my eyes shockingly, and saw the same messy creature, that brought me to this cursed place, next to me. A dark cat with big, yellow, glowing eyes. This damned cat! It made me follow it all the way here, to this screwed up place, and I want to just ask why?! What the hell? It ran away, hid itself somewhere safe, and now, it came back to me?
— Go away! You devilish creature! You ruined my day! I hate y- — I tried to scream at this cat, but it jumped on my face immediately, blocking my mouth. Yeah, I shouldn't probably shout, or I will be noticed again, but the screams and the bullets sounds were still coming. Smart creature, but dumb at the same time. It got off my face after a second, and unexpectedly, started scratching my clothes, trying to pull me somewhere. Oh God, why is he doing that? I know that I have to run, but I just don't have any more strength left in my battered body...
— Leave me here... Maybe it's the destiny I should face... — I whispered quietly, making a sad, despairing face.
The cat looked at me suspiciously with his two, big and yellow like the full moon, eyes. And then, he bit me strongly in my leg, causing me to twist in pain.
Aw. I think I won't stay here. My fight haven't ended. But my strength...
— If you want me to go, then please, lend me some power... — I said to the cat, laughing quietly.
The creature looked deeply into my narrowed eyes, in which glassy tears started to come. My left hand, all covered in clotted blood, I don't feel it anymore. Striking the hard wall's surface with a great impact, hitting the tough ground. It made me tear apart. One side of me wants to run, but at the same time, the other side wants to stay, at the same place, lying like this, hopeless, I don't want to feel more pain...
The cat started to poke the side of my body with its little paw, scratching my black, damaged coat. It was sniffing the outer, deep pocket, and looked at me once again. It wants me to look into the pocket...?
I tried to move the stagnant, sore bones of my hand towards the pocket... Agh... Only a little more...
What?
Deep inside my pocket, I felt a cold, and metallic cubic thing. I grabbed it with my shaking, feeble fingers, and pulled it slowly towards my sight.
No way!? It's… My... My recorder!
A tiny red light was flashing on a shiny silver recorder. It was on! I totally forgot that I turned it on, when I decided to follow this cat! It... All the time I was here, the escape, the fight, the struggle, the massacre... It... It recorded it all!
Suddenly, an unknown force embraced my body, a power of hope that I can get out of here, alive. This shocking evidence... With this... My goal of exposing the Order Officers, and other unusual incidents happening in this mad place... Maybe this is what will start the chain reaction... Like my whistle...
I had the key in my hand again.
I need to get out of here, safely, with this priceless proof. The pain? Screw the pain. It's only a feeling.
I focused my hearing and sight. The masked attacker, he was finishing off the last ones standing, but I could swear, that more of them are coming from behind where the explosion was. But surely, in some time, he will end it soon. I need to quickly get away from here, before he comes to me.
There were two potential ways of escape. Through the detonated wall, where the Officers came from, or the same way I got here, roaming through the black void labyrinth of alleys. But the blue-eyed and other soldiers, they were still fighting, blocking the first route from a safe elopement. The dark alleyways... I was afraid of going into them before...
The fluffy fur of the cat rubbed into my face. Yes. I have the same guide that led me all into this. I guess I'll have to follow it like I did.
Only a few people were still standing, and fighting. The strongest ones that survived. He should still take some time with them.
I focused all of my strength and tried to get up on my legs, leaning against the wall. My body was hurting in every place, pulsing with an incredible pain. I cramped a few times, trying to smother the horrible feeling, but ignoring the soreness, I went forward. Forward to the exit. Supporting myself with the spaces in the destroyed wall, I hurried, trying to get there before the blue-eyed realizes, that I'm still here.
Few seconds later, I finally reached the entrance to the void labyrinth.
— Now, You're going first. — I said, staring at the cat.
It looked at me back, with a horrified sight.
— You really thought you could run away so easily from me? You...
The voice came to my ears from behind. This voice... I slowly turned around, but I already knew, that the moment I came into this cursed place, I wouldn't get out of here without losing anything.
