Polouge chapter 4: The Queen's Lament part 2
When I awoke I was in a stone chamber with no windows. A small lantern was the only light in the area. As I got up two shackles connected to my ankles made noise, breaking through the otherwise dead silence. It was quiet for a few hours at least until Cyanide entered through a door on the opposite side of the room from me.
“I do apologise for my servants rudeness but you have been very uncooperative.” He said as though he has been close to kind during any of our encounters.
“Oh yes I was the outrageous one after you killed one of my battalions.” I rebuked, “I want you to remember Cyanide despite my position with Xai. We are not friends.” I continued Cyanide then sighed. He seemed to be disappointed. “Oxide I do view you as my friend, you are very important to me.” He lamented faux compassion in his voice.
“Cut to the chase, what do you plan to do with me?” I snapped. I don’t want to hear him talk for hours on a tangent. “Right, right I need you to do something for me.” He said beginning to walk toward me as his hand glowed with magic, “And before thinking of declining allow me to give insentive.” He continued.
“You plan to control me, don’t you?” I sneered. After I said that Cyanide laughed a little, “You know me too well, don’t you?” He exclaimed, continuing his approach. But just before he grabbed me I made one last desperate slash with dark magic. After a few seconds where time felt like it stopped. I couldn’t move, he had gotten me. But I could still see and hear. It was quiet for minutes, before he finally spoke, his hand covering his right eye with blood streaming between his fingers.
“Alright,” Cyanide giggled, his voice shaking from the pain, “You got me, and you got me good.” He continued seeming to enjoy what had just happened. “But now, a new era shall dawn on your people. And the God of this era shall be me, now tell me my friend are you ready to begin?” He chuckled as he prepared to force my engagement in whatever plan he had.
