Looking at Jenelle with a question in his eyes, Ty's lips twitch into a small smile for the first time since he's been home. He can't believe that Jenelle actually agreed to finding Rosalee on their own, but she is clearly determined.
When they dated in high school, Ty remembers how logical of a thinker Jenelle always was and that's why he thought for sure that Jenelle would want to let the professionals handle this, but Ty guesses that since this is Jenelle's kid they're talking about, the logical thinking gets thrown out the window.
Ty decides that putting his suspicions of Rosalee on the back burner is probably the best solution right now seeing as they need to focus on finding the girl before he can even begin to think about questioning who her father is. Taking in the sight before him, Ty relishes in the way the sun reflects off the ocean, how the waves bend to the ocean's will, the way the sand feels on his bare skin, and how the air has a slight salty scent to it that Ty can't help but greedily breathe in.
As Ty absorbs his surroundings like a sponge to water, his anxiety eases and he finally turns to face Jenelle yet again.
"Well, what we need right now are clues. Maybe we could ask around? See if anyone has seen or heard anything at all? I know the police have probably started questioning some people, but if you think about it, some might not feel comfortable with being completely honest to the police. People with authority are quite intimidating, but if we start questioning people, maybe we could get some sort of lead?" Ty thinks out loud, gauging Jenelle's face to see her reaction.
"I know the perfect place to start our interrogations!" Jenelle exclaims suddenly, pulling Ty up by his hand and running toward the pier on the left side of Golden Grove's only beach.

Now standing in front of a quaint little café, the walls a calming sage green with baby blue curtains on the windows and potted plants set randomly on the little patio, Ty looks over at Jenelle with an obvious question mark on his face.
Jenelle would have laughed at Ty's expression if it weren't for the constant worry and anxiety practically drilled into her bone marrow over the lacking presence of Rosalee. She swallows the thickness in her throat as she blinks back her tears. Jenelle knows she has to be strong, especially if she plans on successfully finding her baby girl. So, burying her fear into the deepest part of her mind, she focuses solely on the determination she has for finding her daughter and begins to explain their location to Ty.
"This is the café I work at, Ty. I know it doesn't look like much, but the Skipping Rocks Café is the best place to go for those who want to gossip or hear about what's been going on around Golden Grove. You wouldn't believe the crazy things I've heard while on my shifts." Jenelle informs Ty, shuddering lightly at the memory of the gossip she was fortunate enough to overhear, note the sarcasm.
"Is this place new? I don't remember a Skipping Rocks Café from the last time I was here." Ty questions, thoroughly intrigued by the café as Golden Grove rarely ever adds anything new to its small town.
"It was put in about four years ago, so I guess you could say that."
Ah, that explains why Ty doesn't recall this café. After all, it has been four years since he's visited.
Upon entering the café, the smell of coffee and delicious pastries waft through the air. Jenelle is quite used to coming in here during the week for her shifts, but the smell of Skipping Rocks Café's pastries and coffee never cease to surprise her. The slight happiness Jenelle feels in the moment from taking in her surroundings is completely shredded into bits when she recalls how Rosalee's eyes would light up like this café was the galaxy itself and held all the answers to life if she were here, but she isn't. Skipping Rocks Café is Rosalee's absolute favorite place to be, especially when she would wait for her mom to get off work. Shaking her head from the memories, Jenelle glances over at Ty to see his reaction. However, Jenelle's heart only breaks further when Ty's green orbs light up in the same way Rosalee's emerald gems would when entering the café.
Ty, on the other hand, is too busy taking in the café's atmosphere to notice Jenelle's mood shift. The café has potted plants hanging from the ceiling all throughout it, the walls that have the same shade of sage green as the walls on the building's exterior hold countless watercolor paintings of different things, such as plants and beaches. The flooring of the café is a dark oak while the sunlight drifting through the windows cascades over the countless people sitting around tables and booths, enjoying their breakfast in the quaint space.
The two walk up to the counter in the center of the café to begin their interrogations, nerves settling in the pit of Jenelle's stomach as she fears having to leave this cafe empty handed. Jenelle hasn't wanted anything more in her life than she does right now, wanting to get her little girl back safe in her arms again. Jenelle can't bear the thought of their search turning up unsuccessful.
Distracting herself from those horrid thoughts, Jenelle's attention is drawn to the woman behind the counter.
"Hey, Louise . . ." Jenelle trails, already knowing what to expect from her co-worker, Louise.
"Jenelle?! Oh my gosh Jenelle! I heard what happened. Have they found anything? How are you feeling? When are you going to come back to work? We all miss you and Rosalee!" Louise begins, her chirpy voice already giving Jenelle a headache, as well as causing Ty to grimace at how insensitive Louise is acting. The woman's child was kidnapped, yet here this lady is, asking when Jenelle will be back at work like nothing is the matter?
"Louise." Jenelle starts, holding a hand up to Louise as if telling her to shut up, "I'm only here to ask around if anyone has seen anything that could indicate Rosalee's location."
For a second, Ty thinks Louise is going to blow a blood vessel from the angry expression on her face. Ty doesn't know if he should be relieved she doesn't, in fact, blow a blood vessel, or if he should be upset about that.
"Well . . . I haven't seen a thing. You two can just move along and go bother someone else, now." Louise huffs, her dissatisfaction obvious to anyone with eyes . . . and ears.
"Now wait a minute here, Louise!" Ty exclaims, surprising Louise and Jenelle, if their facial expressions are anything to go by, "Jenelle's child is missing and this is how you treat her? You're despicable! I can't even fathom what kind of bad day you could possibly have had to act like this toward someone whose kid has been kidnapped! What kind of perso-!"
"Ty! Let's just go, okay?" Jenelle cuts him off, noticing the scene that Ty is causing. Ty grunts, agitated at not being able to finish his rant, but listens to Jenelle anyway.
After Jenelle leads Ty away from Louise, she gets him to calm down before they begin questioning others at the Skipping Rocks Café.
"Come on, we need to find something if we want any chance at all of finding my daughter." Jenelle tells Ty, her voice thickening with concern the longer they take to find something.
"Okay, look over there." Ty starts, pointing in the direction of a couple in the back of the cafe, "We can ask them if they've seen anything." Jenelle knows that couple, Rory and Peter. They all go to church together on Sundays.
"Okay, that's a good place to start."
Walking up to their table, Jenelle takes a deep breath to ease her anxiety while Ty clears his throat, gaining the attention of the love sick couple.
Rory is the first one to look up, her hazel eyes connecting with Jenelle's brown, her face contorting into a look of worry as soon as she spots the auburn haired mother.
"Jenelle? What are you doing here? Any news on Rosalee?" She asks in a gentle voice, ignoring the man beside Jenelle.
"No, they can't find her, Rory. That's why I'm out here. I'm hoping if Ty and I ask around we might be able to find something. I know it's a long shot but I just have to try."
Rory jumps up from her seat at the sight of Jenelle's tears. She hugs Jenelle close to her, rubbing soothing circles on her back as Jenelle cries. Rory and Jenelle have always been close. Rory only moved to Golden Grove with her husband Peter about three years ago, but they became very close family friends of Jenelle and Rosalee. They've watched Rosalee countless times when Jenelle had to go into an unexpected shift at the café, but Tanya was too busy to watch her. Jenelle honestly doesn't know what she'd do without them.
"Have you seen anything at all that could hint at Rosalee's location?" Jenelle sniffles out, wiping away her tears after pulling back from Rory's embrace.
"I'm so sorry, Jenelle, but we haven't seen anything at all. The last time I saw Rosalee was about two weeks ago when you had an unexpected shift at the cafe and she needed someone to watch her." Rory informs her, her own eyes welling up with unshed tears as she thinks back to how happy Rosalee was just to see Rory and Peter again.
"Okay, we're going to keep asking around. Thank you, Rory." What Jenelle doesn't tell Rory is how that one sentence from her mouth seemed to have knocked all the air out of Jenelle's lungs. She just wants her baby girl back.
"Come on, Ty. Thank you Rory and Peter, I'll keep you two updated."
"Of course! Good luck you two, I pray you can find something." Peter adds in, his stunning blue eyes filled with concern and sorrow over the missing girl.
Ty and Jenelle move on to the next table and begin their questioning all over again. They keep this up, making their way around the café in its entirety.
"A missing child? Heavens no, I haven't seen a thing!"
"Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that, I haven't heard anything about it at all. I wish you good luck on your search."
"A kid? I ain't seen nothing. Sorry 'bout that, hope y'all can find her."
"Your child is missing? What kind of mother are you to let your kid get kidnapped!?" Ty wasn't too happy about that last response, but he's able to reel his anger in and take Jenelle out of the situation.
At this point, Jenelle was feeling dejected. She felt as if this was really it. Of course, she would never give up her search for Rosalee, but a small part of her just kept nagging at her about how improbable the chances are of finding a kidnapped child. Jenelle refused to give up, though.
"Come on, Jen. Let's ask that lady over there!" Ty pleads, trying his hardest to keep Jenelle's spirits up. The woman Ty is pointing to is sitting at a small table on the patio and they haven't asked around the patio yet.
Nodding, Jenelle takes a deep breath and leads the way.
"Hello, Miss?" Jenelle politely gets her attention.
The woman sitting on the patio raises her head up, her grey eyes scanning over Ty and Jenelle in question, the long black hair on her head tied back in a pristine ponytail.
"Yes?"
"Have you, by any chance, heard anything about the child that went missing about a week ago?" Ty decides to ask this time to give Jenelle a break, looking helpfully at the woman who now looks surprised.
"A missing child? Oh my goodness, I haven't heard a thing. Do you by chance have a photo of this kid?" The woman asks. She's the only one who's asked to see a photo of Rosalee.
Jenelle eagerly digs into the pocket of her jeans to get to her phone, pulling it out and showing the woman her lockscreen, a picture of Rosalee smiling brightly on the beach, her green eyes shining in that special way they do. What Jenelle doesn't know, however, is that Ty caught a glimpse of that picture, too.
"I'm sorry, I haven't seen her before. She's beautiful, though. I hope you two can find her." The woman smiles sadly at the two defeated parents in front of her, genuinely hoping that their girl is found.
"Oh . . . okay, thank you." Jenelle whispers out, turning on her heel and walking away from the cafe.
Ty follows after her, knowing she's in need of consoling but desperate to ask about Rosalee now. Ty deserves to know.
Jenelle takes a seat at the bottom of the stairs, trying to rein in her emotions to prevent herself from bursting the dam she so meticulously built to keep her emotions in check.
Ty takes a seat beside her, already doubtful if he should ask what's on his mind or not, but he has to know.
"Jenelle?" Ty starts, grabbing the attention of Jenelle who looks up at him, not liking the quiver she heard in his voice. "Who is Rosalee's father?"
"What?" Jenelle splutters, not expecting his question. She knew deep down that Ty would eventually get suspicious and she would be lying if she said she was completely surprised by his question, but she honestly thought she'd have more time. In all honesty, Jenelle was hoping Ty wouldn't notice something was off at all and just go back to New York.
"Rosalee's father. Who is he?" Ty asks again, sounding a bit more stern but still keeping his expression gentle because he knows now really isn't the best time to be asking a question like this.
Jenelle isn't sure how to respond. Should she be honest? But, if she is, will Ty still help her? She wants his help... no, she needs his help. But, this is Ty she's thinking about! He deserves to know the truth after ten years, even if he doesn't want anything to do with her or Rosalee after he finds out. So, taking a deep breath, she looks into the exact replica of Rosalee's eyes, and she tells him.
"You."
