Ty intakes a sharp breath of air, unable to comprehend what he just heard come out of his ex lover's mouth. Rosalee is his daughter! If that's the case, then why did Jenelle break up with him ten years ago? Was it really because she didn't love him anymore, or something else?
"Me? Then, why didn't you tell me?" Ty finally decides to voice his thoughts, wanting to get to the bottom of this.
"Ty, I lied when I said I didn't love you anymore. I broke up with you so you wouldn't find out about the pregnancy. I wanted you to pursue your dreams, not be held back because of me!"
Ty is flabbergasted, he can't believe Jenelle said that. If anything, her telling him she's pregnant would have been a relief because being with her and their baby would've been so much better than thinking she didn't love him anymore. Ty still remembers as clear as day how absolutely crushed he felt when she told him all those years ago that she no longer loved him. He felt like the whole world was taken right from underneath him, like the colors all around him became dull and the things he enjoyed got less exciting. Just hearing Jenelle tell him that she didn't break up with him because she stopped loving him made the scenery around Ty suddenly appear more vibrant.
Jenelle had cast her gaze down to the ground, too afraid to face Ty and the negative reaction he might have. What she didn't expect, however, was for warmth to engulf her as a strong chest came into her line of sight. Is Ty hugging me?
Unsure of what to do, Jenelle freezes up, not knowing if she should hug Ty back or not. Before she can ponder on the subject further, Ty pulls away from the one sided embrace, placing his hands on Jenelle's shoulders to see her more clearly at arm's length. Ty can't help the laugh that escapes him at the gawking expression Jenelle wears. She definitely wasn't expecting that.
"Jen, how could I not want to spend my life with you? I loved you so much." Ty starts, Jenelle's expression falling at Ty's use of love in the past tense, "In fact, I've never stopped loving you."
Jenelle can't help the smile that takes over her face at that moment, but it quickly vanishes when she spots something odd in the distance.
"Jenelle? Look, I'm not saying I'm not upset about you keeping this from me, but I'm just so-."
Jenelle holds up a palm, cutting off Ty mid sentence. Ty is baffled for a moment before he notices the bafflement Jenelle also wears on her own face.
"What is it, Jenelle?" Ty asks tentatively, knowing Jenelle well enough by now to spot when something is the matter with her.
Jenelle doesn't respond. Instead, she simply stands up and scurries off in a random direction, a confused Ty tailing her as if he were a lost puppy. Ty's discombobulation only grows when he spots Jenelle crouching down in front of a random palm tree.
Jenelle, on the other hand, is fuming. In her hands she holds a stuffed pig with the initials "J. M. N." embroidered on the stuffed pig's tummy. Jenelle knows exactly what those initials stand for. Jenelle Marie Nicols. This stuffed animal was hers when she was Rosalee's age. Her father, Dustin Nicols, had gotten it for her when she was 10. Dustin passed away a year later from leukemia and Jenelle treasured that stuffed animal like it was the most precious thing in the world. Unfortunately, when her mother kicked her out, Jenelle wasn't able to go back for the plush toy.
"Jenelle? What is going on?" The sound of Ty's voice brings Jenelle out of her memories causing her to look up at him, her eyes filled with rage.
"I think I know who took Rosalee." Jenelle grits out, using everything she has to keep herself from punching the palm tree she's crouched by.
"You do? How is that even possible? Who do you think it was?!" Ty blanches, completely confused by the current situation.
"My mother."
