Sienna’s pov
The next morning I woke up with fresh memories of the day before. The wedding and pushing Jack away. I can’t get close to him, I can’t get close to anyone again after what’s happening with Dad. I love him but soon I will lose him forever when he passes away. I know it is cruel to treat Jack this way, he is a good man but what can I do? I can’t develop any feelings for him. I just can’t. This marriage will only be temporary anyway. I only agreed to it for Dad’s sake. Once he is gone, this marriage won’t have to go on any longer.
Jack was still sleeping. He is so handsome. I shook my head to prevent such thoughts. I must stay strong and not let things get serious with him. I was about to get out of bed but then a hand to my wrist stopped me. Jack wasn’t asleep after all.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Jack asked as he sat up in bed.
“To the bathroom,” I replied and tried to shrug Jack’s hand off my wrist.
“Not before you tell me what the hell is going on,” Jack refused to let my wrist go.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,”
“Yes you do. Did you really think giving me that crap about being exhausted last night was going to excuse how you treated me?
“Like I said before I have no idea what you’re talking about,”
“Yes you do, now tell me what’s wrong?”
“There is nothing wrong. Let me go, I need to use the bathroom,”
Jack reluctantly let me go as he muttered “This isn’t over,”
I grabbed what I needed before heading to the bathroom.
Once I was done, it was Jack’s turn to use the bathroom.
When he came out the bathroom 10 minutes later, he was dressed smartly for work. He looked good but I quickly looked away before he realised that I was checking him out and got back to doing my hair.
Once I had finished with my hair and makeup, I headed downstairs to make a start on breakfast. I wasn’t planning on sharing my toast with Jack but he stole a slice from my plate and took a sip of my tea before he rushed out of the house leaving me alone, at last.
The rest of the day was no fun for me, I had nothing to do in the huge 4 bedroom house all by myself. I felt extremely lonely.
When Jack returned home in the evening, I was secretly relieved to see him but I didn’t show it.
“Hi,” Jack greeted me as he took a seat beside me on the sofa.
“Hi,” I replied.
“How was your day?”
“Fine, how was yours?”
“Also fine,”
After a short conversation, Jack went upstairs to take a shower before we had dinner and had an early night. I made it clear to Jack that he couldn’t come near my side of the bed again. I saw a look of hurt on his face but then it disappeared and he closed his eyes to sleep. I hated the situation we were in. It’s clear that Jack believes in our marriage but I can’t let myself go to make his wishes come true when I never wanted to marry him in the first place. This is the way it’s got to be.
