“Hey sweets, what are we making today?” Brenda asks as I enter the kitchen. She was standing at the counter looking at something on her phone.

“Umm… Well I thought since we did dessert ravioli last time we can do something simple. How about cookies or cupcakes? I’m not sure what flavors yet, but nothing too extravagant.” Brenda nods, pointing to the pantry that was just for our experiments. 

“I cleaned and restocked everything yesterday. We should have everything to make anything your heart desires.” I walk over to her and wrap my arms around her waist from the side.

“Thanks ma! What will I ever do without you?” She kisses my forehead and pulls me closer to her. We stood there for a few moments longer before pulling apart to get started setting up for the day. Deciding to make both cupcakes and cookies I walk over to the pantry and grab all of the things we're going to need. 

Jasmine’s barges through the front door just as we finish measuring everything out.

“Good day my beautiful extended family. How are you all doing today?” Jasmine says her usual greeting but something was off. I wonder if something happened? I want to put her on the hot seat but not if she wasn’t ready to talk about whatever it was. I’ll just have to wait for her to tell me on her own. She would do the same for me anyway.

“Hey Jas. You’re just in time. We’re making cupcakes and cookies but we haven’t chosen what flavor they should be. Any suggestions?” I look up as she sits at the counter after she washes her hands. 

“Didn’t you say you wanted to try the red velvet oreo cupcake?” That totally slipped my mind. I have wanted to try making it for some time now.

“As for the cookies, why not do the same thing.” She shrugs. 

“That actually sounds like a great idea. Let’s go with that but we will do red velvet chocolate chip cookies.” They both nod and we get to work. 

When we were finished making both batters we did a test bake. Jasmine always volunteers to be our taster but this time Brenda beat her to it. However, Jasmine won’t be left out so she offers for them to try halves of each. Brenda pretends that she is thinking it over but we all knew she was going to share with Jasmine anyway. 

It was better than seeing her sulk until the rest finished baking. That would be funny to add to the video though. After a few more exaggerated seconds, Brenda finally agrees to Jasmine's offer. She gets a knife and cuts both the cupcake and the cookie in half. Jasmine chooses to go for the cookie while Brenda opted for the cupcake. They bite into their treats and both of them groan. I hope they remember we are still recording. Not that I mind getting their real reactions, I just don’t want to embarrass either of them.

“Soooooo gooooood!” Jasmine says after she takes another bite.

“She’s not lying, these are delicious. They aren’t too sweet either, the cookie is fine the way it is. The chocolate chips add extra sweetness. Are you going to be icing the cupcakes?” Brenda adds after finishing both her halves. Nodding, I go to the fridge to get the ingredients to make the cream cheese filling and icing.

“There is something I want to try but you won’t see what it is until everything is finished.” My phone vibrates in my pocket but I ignore it for now. I wanted to focus on the task at hand. We were almost finished. All that was left to do was wait for everything to bake and cool. The filling and icing can’t be added until they cool anyway. Thankfully we have a blast chiller that helps to make the process just a tad bit faster.

While we are waiting, I suggest we take a break and come back when the timer goes off. I use the time to check my phone. I was right, I did get a text from Jax. 

Jax~ Hey, is it okay if I stop by for a bit? 

I’m with my dad and he would like to talk with both of us.

Oh my goddess! He sent that almost fifteen minutes ago. Instead of texting him back I decided to call him. I mindlink my parents to let them know what was going on and they both say okay. I already told them that Jax and I were officially together, especially since they were watching us from the house. They drove me absolutely crazy all throughout dinner. 

“Hello, I was just about to call you.” I can hear the smile in his voice and it makes me smile.

“Hi, I just saw your text. I’m sorry, I was in the middle of filming for my vlog.” I can hear his dad talking to someone in the background.

“It’s okay, that’s why I sent you a text instead of calling. Is it okay for us to stop by though?” 

“Uh… Yeah, my parents said it’s okay. Will you be heading this way now?” Jasmine comes rushing into the kitchen. When she sees that I’m on the phone she slaps her hand over her mouth. 

“Well we’re about three minutes away.” There is someone else in the background but I’m not sure who it is.

“My dad took Bryce and I out on patrol this morning, we finished about twenty minutes ago. He was actually going to call your dad  but he got an important call before he got the chance.”

“So is that Bryce I hear in the background?” Honestly I was just seeking confirmation at this point. 

“You guessed it! Dad was going to take him home but he wanted to meet you. I hope that’s okay with you?” He sounded worried. We have only been together for a few days. At first I was all for letting everyone know that Jax and I were officially together, especially Beth and her cronies. Unfortunately, Jax said that his dad wanted us to keep our relationship just between our families and friends for now. He wanted us to get a fair chance to bond without any outside interference. With Beth being our biggest problem at the moment. It felt good to know that the Alpha approved of our relationship and even wanted to help us strengthen our bond before announcing we are mates.

“We just pulled up but my dad is still on the phone so it may take a few more minutes before we actually come to the door.” He says, Jasmine and I take the time to assess our outfits.

 She was in a pink tank top and black shorts. I was in a green tank top with overall shorts. I hope we are dressed good enough to meet with the Alpha.

“Okay, I think dad is almost finished with his call. I’ll be hanging up now, see you in a bit.” 

“Yeah, see you in a bit.” Putting my phone back into my pocket, I'm a bit dazed. I’m nervous, I don’t know what is going to be discussed today. It could be about our relationship or it could be about something totally different. Why didn’t I ask Jax about it before we hung up? I’m going to drive myself crazy. I already know that Jax told his parents about us being mates. His dad basically gave us his approval already. Who I’m more worried about is his mom. The Luna is known for her kind manner but she is a true she wolf. She will do anything to protect her pups. The timer chooses the right moment to go off, shaking me out of my thoughts. Jasmine grabs the oven mitt, opening the ovening she takes out the two trays of cookies. 

“Should I put the cupcakes to bake now or the rest of the cookies?” Jas asked as she set the cookies onto the cooling tray.

“We can do all of the cupcakes now and do the rest of the cookies later. We can rest the cookie dough in the fridge until we are ready for it.” She nods while I help her put the cupcakes in the oven. Brenda comes into the kitchen just as we put the last tray into the oven. 

“Did Jax say how far they were?” Brenda asks, taking some things out of the fridge. I guess she was going to make a quick lunch since it was about that time.

“They are already outside actually.” I answer her nodding towards the front of the house. Brenda stops what she is doing and so does Jasmine. They both look at me as if I have lost my mind. 

“What do you mean they are outside?” Jasmine asked bit panicked.

“Calm down, Jax said his dad was on a call and it would take a few minutes. They were closeby when he sent me the text.” They visibly relaxed. I really wanted to laugh at them but I myself needed to calm down a bit. My heart was about to beat out of my chest. 

“I’m going to wait for them on the porch. Will it be okay if I left the timer with you?” I say, setting the timer down in front of Jasmine. She nods, moving closer to the stove. 

“Do you want them to go in the blast chiller when they are done?”

“Yes please, but I’ll set it up. All you will have to do is start it.” I know she doesn’t like using the blast chiller. The first time she used it she set the timer to high and had it on max chill. By the time we the timer went off everything was frozen solid.

“Oh before I forget. Jax’ little brother, Bryce will also be joining us.”

“The only person missing now is the Luna. I wonder why she didn’t come.” Jas just had to say it. I was just getting over my initial panic but now I felt it building up again.

“They’re coming straight from patrol and today is Saturday, so it’s possible the Luna is at the Rogue Center. Anyway I’m going out to wait for them.” Before either of them could say anything else, I made my escape running to the door. 

After I open the door, I come face to face with the trio. I wasn’t expecting them to be standing there already. Jax looked like he was about to knock before I opened the door. 

“Hello Sean. I hope it’s okay that we stopped by on such short notice.” Alpha Kaine says as he steps forward with his hand outstretched. Mentally shaking myself out of my stupor I grab his hand and shake it as firmly as I can. 

“No problem at all, especially for the Alpha. Please come in.” I stepped back into the house and out of the way for them to pass. Jax let his dad and little brother enter before him. When he doesn’t make a move to step into the house, I mindlink my parents and Jasmine to let them know that the Alpha is in the house. 

Seeing that Alpha Kaine and Bryce are still standing by the entryway, I turn back to Jax and motion for him to come inside. Instead he grabs my hand, pulling me away from the house. 

“Jax! What are you doing?” He doesn’t say anything. He just keeps pulling me until we are at the side of the house. 

“Jax, what’s going on?” He pulls me around to face him and hugs me, burying his face into the side of my neck. He takes a couple deep breaths before raising his head. 

“Sorry, I just wanted to be alone with you for a second.” He rests his forehead on mine.

“I haven’t seen you for a couple days and Jeremiah missed you.” 

“Hmm… So only Jeremiah missed me huh?” I pull away from him pouting. Did he really not miss me at all? That would really suck because I missed him like crazy. Technically we’ve only been together for a few days but we haven’t seen each other since that day. Jasmine went into heat later that night and per usual I skipped school to stay with her, with my parents permission of course.  

“You know I missed you too. We have barely seen each other this past week and then you don’t come to school for three days.” I almost forgot that I avoided him for more than a week. 

“I did text you to let you know that I wouldn’t be in school for a few days.” 

“I know but I got used to seeing and spending almost everyday with you, even if it’s only for a few minutes a day. Jeremiah and I get aggravated when we can’t see or be near you.” He pulls me tighter, burying his face in my neck. I felt him take a deep breath. Wrapping my arms around his waist, I decide to let him have his way for a bit longer.

“Alright, we can stay like this for one more minute. We have to go back in soon before they come looking for us.” He nods, pulling me tighter into his body. At this point if we get any closer we just might defy physics and become one.

‘Sean? Are you okay?’ Jasmine says through our mindlink. 

‘Yeah, we needed a moment. We are coming in right now.’ I cut the link, pulling away from Jax. 

“Let’s go.” I grab his hand, pulling him back toward the front door. 

Before we can make it to the door Jasmine steps outside with a big stupid smirk on her face. 

“What have you two been up to? Hmm….?” She stands in front of us with her arms folded. Ignoring her, I pull Jax into the house. I can hear Jasmine giggling behind us as she closes the door. 

“Where is everyone?” I ask after she gets herself under control. I had already looked in the living room where I thought they would be, but there was no one in there. 

“You know that’s not how that works. If you want answers you have to answer my question first.” I hate it when she throws our rules in my face. You would think she would let me have my secrets with Jax. 

‘I will tell you later. Please, just tell me where everyone is.’ I said through our mindlink. Jasmine rolls her eyes at me but thankfully she nods her head.

“Your dad and Alpha Kaine are in his study and Bryce is in the kitchen with Brenda. I’m pretty sure he has eaten all of the cookies by now.” I wonder what our dads were talking about.

“It’s okay he can have as much as he likes, as long as it is okay with his dad. There is more than enough.” Bryce comes running out of the kitchen with a cookie in both hands and half of one still in his mouth. 

“Jax! Jax!” He chews the rest of the cookie and swallows before he continues.

“Would you like to try one? They are really good.” Bryce holds out both of his hands towards Jax, patiently waiting for him to choose one.

“Are you sure you want to give one up bud?” Jax asked. Bryce nods, still waiting for Jax to take one of the cookies. 

“Okay then. I’ll take this one.” He takes the one on the left.

“Go ahead. Try it!” Bryce is a pushy little guy, but I like his energy. Jax takes a bit of the cookie and I swear his eyes roll to the back of his head. 

“Mhmm… This is good.” He finishes the rest in one bite, moaning all over again. The sound sends shivers down my spine. 

“Can I have the other one too?” Jax asks, already stretching for the other cookie. 

“Nope, this one is for daddy. But since he is talking to Dr. Jewell.” He pauses for a few seconds.

“I guess I’ll just have to eat it then.” He doesn’t waste time either. Bryce shoves the entire cookie into his mouth before Jax could grab it.

“That was not fair. How many have you eaten already?” Jax was actually pouting because his brother ate the other cookie. I couldn’t help the smile that plastered my face. 

“It’s okay Jax. There are more in the kitchen. I will pack some up for you to take with you.” I say pulling Jax into the kitchen. Not really realizing that we have been holding hands this entire time. Walking into the kitchen, I notice Brenda has already started making lunch. She is humming to herself like she always does when she is left in the kitchen by herself.
