Second Chances |02

Gripping the handle to his door. Kimi watched as the Demon Control Division entered thier vehicles. A single pair of eyes caught his own. The man sitting in the passenger seat glared at him. A cool red covered the man's pupils before they recovered a natural brown shade. The car and its occupants were soon out of his sight. Breathing a sigh of relief Kimi went back inside. 

The smooth, hardwood floors that were installed still felt as warm as the sun's touch. The bedroom to his left was entered. Taking care, he removed the silver ring worn. The place where it once rested was pale in comparasion to its counterparts. Opening the bedroom window, the view seen was that of the building next door. Its red brickwork suffocated any air that would find its way in. 

Opening a sidedraw a stick of incence was placed in its holder. The strike of the match was loud in the silence of the night. Clasping his hands he prayed. His whispered words were carried on the whisps of smoke that escaped the confines of the room. A small bell without its clapper was lifted and a ringing motion was done three times. 

Kimi could feel air around him lighten. He placed the bell back on the window still and left the incense to burn. Being kept up that late was not a good thing with work to be done tomorrow. Kimi changed his clothes and slipped beneath the thin sheets.

The short sputtering of the flame signalled the nearing end of the gas. Slightly annoyed, he turned off the burner. The pan fried meat was plated on top of cooling eggs. Balancing a hot mug of tea and two large plates Kimi placed the food at the dining table. Fork. Kimi looked over his shoulder. Confused he shook it off. Rising from his seat he retrieved the fork. 

Not having his own personal car, a train was borded to the next city. The rush of buildings been passed felt exhillerating. If he tried hard enough he could feel the wind lashing against his skin. One corner of his lips twiched. 

"Now entering Reuads Station."

Snapped out of his thoughts a dull expersion could been seen on his face. The train came to a screeching hault. The rough impact threw him forward. The work bag he carried was flung out of his hands. Chaos errupted within the small space. The shattering of glass rang out above all else. Several pairs of eyes turned to the back of the train car. A long limb could be seen clawing at window. 

Picking himself up Kimi moved swiftly to the entrance of the second car. A large red creature dropped from the roof. Staring at it. Kimi wondered just how bad his luck could get. Reaching for the side bag he wore to work. He grappled at nothing. Peaved, kimi moved with the pushing crowd. Crys and screams of desperation melted into the increasing heated space. 

Many of the passengers could be seen wiping the sweat from their skin. Of the brave few that dared to fight the creatures, were people who had taken off their jackets and coats. Why is it so hot? The metal frame around them begun to warp becoming deformed.  A creeping darkness slowly moved across the sides of the train. An unfathomable shape could be seen at the end of the car. The diameter of the car frame began to lessen. 

With wide eyes Kimi watched as boiling lava gurgled in the darkness. The spewed liquid melted metal and glass. The noxtious fumes that escaped caused some to faint. Another round of chaos ensued. The once stationery vehicle began to tilt downward. Grabbing onto a seat. Kimi watched as some of the train's unfortunate souls get consumed by the fire. 

A large vibration travelled through the train. Another and another could be felt. The bodies that the demon had begun to digest were coughed up. Its enlarged mouth receeded back. Sunlight filled the cabin. Through the thin black slime that was left behind. It was easy to see a young man standing just beyond the train's platform. 

"Hey-o. Your saviour is here! You better pay me with interest!" 

The god awful sound Kimi wished to never hear was strum into his ears. Having took notice the demon changed its course. The vibrations went directly to the creature that lunged at him. The train's onlookers watched in bewillerment as the creature swallowed him whole. A man quickly shouted for them to run. As the train quickly emptied Kimi spotted his bag grabbing it he exited through the open side. 

Reaching into his bag he grabbed his phone and pressed a number to activate speed dial. This can't be happeneing. The muffled sound of off-key notes resonated. A loud bang was heard. Kimi jumped to the side as the incoming projectile landed next to him. Another object landed not too far from the first. Is he dead? The ball of black hair moved. 

      Jumping to his feet the young man said, "Those were Zhao Bai's premium services. They cost a premium price..." Scared off by the horredous smell Kimi moved far away. 

"Hey where are you going? I'm not done yet!" 

Not looking behind Kimi's feet moved swiftly. Weaving into the crowd. A second thought was not spared to the man left behind. If I walk fast enough, I can reach to work on time!
