Tom’s pov
I was furious, How dare she just barge into my room.
“Mom what are you doing in my room?” I asked my Mother who was fuming.
“Thomas what have you done to your room?” my Mum asked while looking around my room with clear disgust on her face.
“It’s my room, I can have it the way I want and don’t call me Thomas. My name is Tom,”
“Don’t you dare tell me what I can and can’t call you. You may have your father wrapped around your little finger but not me,” Mum said before her gaze went to Kristin.
“Who’s she and what have you done to her? Is she human?” Mum asked then sniffed the air and looked at Kristin’s terrified face.
“She’s Kristin and she’s mine. I haven’t done anything to her,” I said while putting my arm around Kristin protectively as my mom tried to reach her. Surprisingly, Kristin let me touch her without a fuss.
“What do you mean she’s yours?” Mum asked and stopped in front of me.
“I love her,” I said proudly.
“What did you say?” Mum asked with her temper rising.
“You heard me, I love her,” I confirmed.
“You can’t love a human,” Mum scoffed.
“I can,” I said.
“No you can’t,” Mum argued.
“Why not?”
“Because I won’t allow it,”
“I will be with her and you can’t stop me,”
“I can. I’m the queen, you will obey me,” Mum said in a raised voice. Kristin is my mate and Mum is supposed to be happy for me not the total opposite. I should have known this would happen. Mum has never been supportive with my decisions.
“Only if Dad agrees, he’s the king and his word is final. I know for a fact he’ll let me be with Kristin,” I said with a smirk. Dad loves me too much to say no to me and I don’t know of any time he has refused a request of mine.
“We’ll see, we’ll talk to him right now, come on,” Mum grabbed my arm roughly and tried to pull me towards the door but I wouldn’t budge.
“Come on Thomas,” Mum warned.
“I’m not going anywhere without Kristin,” I decided. There is no way I am leaving my mate alone. Who knows what could happen to her in my absence.
Mum sighed before reluctantly saying
“Fine bring the human with you,”
I don’t know why Mum doesn’t like my mate. Just because Kristin is human, it doesn’t mean Mum can hate her. She has to like my mate because I love her. Why is Mum so difficult about things? Dad has known about Kristin since I met her and has asked to see her many times but I always said no because I knew Kristin would hate me. I know she already hates me for turning up out of the blue and kidnapping her not long after but I had no choice. She is my mate and has to come to terms with that. She will never accept me while she has freedom in her own world but she will now that she is in a universe unknown to her. I hope.
I took Kristin’s hand and we followed Mum who began to run with her Vampire speed ability. After a second, she disappeared and Kristin’s eyes went wide in surprise. Soon she will get used to seeing Vampires using their abilities and nothing will astonish her.
I picked Kristin up in my arms and ran to catch up with Mum.
We rushed down the hallway to the left to a door which led to another hallway. Then the stairway was visible and we took them up 2 floors to Mum and Dad’s room.
Dad opened the door before we reached the door.
“Tom my son why are you up this late?” Dad asked with a frown but I could tell he was happy to see me. Then he saw Kristin. “I see now. Is this the lovely Kristin you’ve been telling me about?”
“Yes, Kristin this is my Dad,” I told Kristin. Dad held his hand out to Kristin but she looked startled.
“It’s ok love, he won’t hurt you,” I told Kristin softly. Kristin relaxed a little and took Dad’s hand.
“It’s nice to finally meet you Kristin, I’m Richard,” my Dad said to Kristin with a smile. Kristin just gave a nod of the head.
“Ok enough of this, we need to sort this out,” Mum said irritably.
“Sort what out?” Dad asked in confusion.
“That,” Mum gestured with disgust at mine and Kristin’s joint hands. Dad looked too but he smiled.
“I don’t see what needs sorting out, they’re in love,” Dad’s smile widened.
“But they can’t be together when she’s only human,” Mum argued.
“Who says we can’t be together? Dad’s happy with it, it’s only you that has a problem with it Mom,” I said.
“It’s not natural a Vampire Prince with a human,”
“Your Mother’s right,” Dad surprised me. I thought he was ok with my mate. Why is he agreeing with Mum now?
“What?” I asked. I really thought Dad was ok with it.
“I know what your thinking Tom, I didn’t mean that. I am happy for you. I mean Kristin can’t be human if you want it to work between you,” Dad made it clear to me and my Mum didn’t look happy. She hissed before walking out of the room and slamming the door behind her.
“What are you saying?” I asked Dad but I already knew what his answer would be. Kristin can’t stay human if I want her in my life for eternity.
“I’m saying you will have to turn Kristin into a Vampire,” Dad replied before I glanced at Kristin and as expected, she looked terrified.” If you don’t turn her, she’ll get killed,”
Dad looked to the ground sadly and my heart clenched at the thought of losing my mate. I may not have known Kristin very long but she means everything to me and I can’t be without her.
“Ok but how long do I have to do it?” I asked with a sigh. I don’t want to take Kristin’s humanity away from her but I have no choice. She will not survive as a human in this world.
“A week,” Dad replied.
“A week? I have a week before you make me a Vampire? This isn’t fair. I don’t want to be a Vampire,” Kristin finally spoke.
“I’m so sorry Kristin but it’s the only way to keep you safe,” Dad apologised. I can see he doesn’t want this either but it’s necessary for Kristin’s survival.
“What do you mean?” Kristin asked in confusion.
“Thanks to the Queen’s temper, every Vampire in the Kingdom knows you’re here and will want you for their own,” Dad replied.
“Why? Kristin asked.
“For your blood,” Dad simply stated.
“This isn’t fair, I never asked for this or wanted this,” Kristin whined.
“I know it’s not your fault but there’s no way out of this. If you leave here, Vampires will follow you,” Dad said. “Not only will they kill you but the entire human population too and as King, I can’t allow that to happen,”
“It’s late we should call it a night, goodnight you two,” Dad said when no one said a word. I nodded my head and took Kristin back to our room.
Kristin let go of my hand and got into the bed. I got in beside her and put my arm around her.
“I’m sorry baby,” I said in Kristin’s ear.
“It’s too late for apologies now,” Kristin said as she glared at me.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“Do it now,” Kristin ordered.
“Do what now?” I asked in confusion.
“Turn me into a Vampire,”
“What?” I asked in shock. I did not expect that. I thought Kristin would want the entire week to say goodbye to her humanity before letting me turn her.
“I don’t have a choice anymore, I know I’m stuck with you,” Kristin admitted sadly.
“Are you sure?” I asked to make sure. “Don’t you want a week to cherish your humanity?”
“No. There’s no point waiting a week,”
“As you wish,” I agreed and put my lips on Kristin’s neck.
“This will hurt a little,” I warned before sinking my fangs into my mate’s skin for a few seconds. Kristin whimpered a little but her blood was amazing, it was warm and tasty. I took my fangs out of her skin and licked the area.
“What happens now?” Kristin asked as she winced from the after pain.
“Nothing. We go to sleep and when you wake up tomorrow, you’ll be a Vampire,” I said.
“So I won’t feel any pain?” Kristin asked.
“No you won’t feel anything, it’ll be a normal sleep,”
Kristin groaned.
“What’s wrong?” I asked nervously.
“A normal sleep means nightmares,”
“You won’t have nightmares tonight or any other night,” I assured my mate.
“Why not?”
“Because I’ll be here,”
“What about your nightmares?”
“I don’t sleep remember?” I lied as Kristin closed her eyes and fell asleep in my arms.
A few seconds later, I was out like a light.
