Next morning Jessalyin took everything good she has ever said about Edhas back. Edhas was the worst person that has ever lived. Somehow he managed to conjure a horn and started to play as soon as the Sun rose. She put her pillow on her face, trying to block the sound. He wasn't kidding when he said that they'll see each other at sunrise.
"I should have cursed you when I had the chance."
"Rise and shine, Jessy." Edhas said and started to play even louder. He was far too enthusiastic for such an early hour. Seeing that Jessalyin decided to ignore him, he made a circular sign with his finger and her pillow and blanket disappeared in a thin, red smoke. Having no way to block the sound and knowing that Edhas won't stop playing until he gets what he wants, Jessalyin did the impossible and stood up. Yet, Edhas continued to play.
"Why, for the love of Aahlaad, are you still playing that awful instrument? I woke up, didn't I?"
"You did, but your brother is still asleep."
"I'll wake him up. Just...stop playing."
"Alright. I'll leave it to you then."
Just as he promised, Edhas made the horn disappear and sat down on his mattress. Jessalyin approached her brother. Rohan was peacefully sleeping, as if Edhas hasn't just sung an entire song off-key. She poked him a few times and seeing that she was getting no response, she decided that it was time for drastic measures. She won't risk having Edhas play that horn again.
"If you don't wake up, I guess I'll have to cook."
As if on cue, Rohan opened his eyes "I'm awake, I'm awake. Please don't cook."
Jessalyin punched him in the ribs. "You're such a jerk."
"Ow, that hurt. Why did you wake me up? It's like 4 in the morning."
"Apparently Edhas is a morning person."
"The worst."
"Mhm."
After Rohan finally got up, they joined Edhas.
"Do we have food? I just woke up and I am starving."
"Not right now. Let's first have you two freshen up." he told them "Those lazyasses waking up at noon." he whispered under his breath.
"What?"
"I said that there's a river a little further in that direction." Edhas pointed the direction, then continued "Found it while taking my morning walk."
"Morning walk? Mate, how long have you been awake?" Rohan asked astonished.
"A while. You two sleep like the death. C'mon, I'll take you to the river." Edhas got up from his spot then began to walk towards the forest. The twins wanted to defend themselves, but they knew that Edhas was right so they let it slide.
"Did he call us lazyasses?"
"I am not quite sure."
The twins shrugged and then proceeded to follow Edhas.
The forest was quiet, the nocturnal animals having gone to sleep and the diurnal animals not having woken up yet. Not long after they left the camp, the trio could hear the sound of water. When they arrived the twins washed their faces and then entered the river with their feet. Meanwhile, Edhas was seated on the grass, watching them.
"Damn, the water's so cold. Edhas, come on in too."
"Alright, but if I catch a cold you two will have to nurse me." He said, entering the river. The water was cold like ice, a shiver went down his spine.
"Rohan sure will take good care of you."
"And why wouldn't you be the one to take care of him?"
"Don't you men go here and there saying that women aren't good healers? Take responsibility for your peers' sayings."
"Men also say that women are supposed to be great cooks and yet here you are."
"You take that back!"
Jessalyin wanted to attack Rohan but he made a sign with his hand and a wave soaked Jessalyin. She was now in his territory. Edhas started to laugh and Jessalyin threw some water in his direction. The three of them started a full far with water. In the end the winner was Rohan thanks to his water affinity.
"Remember me to never again get close to water while you two are with me." Edhas said soaked wet and cold.
"Sais the one who wants to cross the sea with us." The twins began to laugh. What Edhas said was too ironic not to be funny. They were also wet and cold, but making fun of Edhas warmed their souls.
"I don't understand why it's so cold. It's summer for Mother Nature's shake." Edhas complained again. He was getting annoyed. His dislike for cold almost as big as his dislike for bees. He should not have agreed to enter the water.
"I've had enough. We needed a change of clothes anyway." Snapping his fingers, their bodies were covered in red smoke. When the smoke disappeared, instead of their wet clothes they were wearing dry, fancy ones. Edhas was now dressed in a white, long shirt, along with some black pants and beautiful brown boots. Rohan was dressed almost the same, only his boots and shirt being black and having a red vest as a bonus. The two men seemed pleased with their new clothes. Jessalyin, on the other hand, didn't like her new outfit at all. A pink, long-sleeved dress assorted with some short pink boots. It even appeared to be a little bit small for her.
"Really? You didn't have something better?"
"If you dislike it, I can try something else."
"Please do."
Edhas snapped his fingers again, this time Jessalyin wasn't wearing a dress, but a feminine version of their clothes. White no-sleeves shirt, black pants and black, long boots. A perfect fit.
"That's better. Thank you."
"No problem. Now let's eat and head for the port."
Author here. I know it's short. I'll try to cut the others even. <3
