"You came faster than I expected." Edhas said to the group of people that entered the room, without looking up from his book. The intruders blew up the door to assert dominance, but Edhas couldn't care less about the little explosion. He was staying on the bed, his legs rested on a chair. His laid-back attitude indicating that the group's arrival wasn't a surprise. Seeing that Edhas wasn't startled or even showed any sign that he would want to do something about the trespassers, Jessalyin decided that her apology speech for leading these people to his room wasn't needed. It was obvious that he was expecting this to happen.
Devain crossed the room like lighting and grabbed Edhas by his collar. He was pissed by the fact that he fell down because his chair disappeared, only to find out that the culprit wasn't even using it. Edhas didn't look threatened at all.
It was a weird scene, at least in the twins' opinion, because it was as if they were witnessing Edhas attacking himself. Jessalyin and Rohan were twins and they have met other pairs of twins in their journeys, but never saw two people looking so much alike. From head to toe they were the perfect copy of each other. Even their voices sounded alike. If they didn't have different clothes, it would be impossible to tell them apart.
"Why did you take my chair if you're not using it?"
"I'm using it." Edhas said calmly, then signaled to his feet that were on the chair "See?"
"That's not how you use it, you absolute buffoon!" Devain grabbed his legs, pushed the chair away and dragged Edhas until he feel on the hard floor.
"You maniac, why make me fall?" Edhas got up from the ground, rubbing his sore back.
"Serves you right. Maybe you'll learn that it hurts falling down."
"Oh, I'll give you reasons to feel pain when I shove my spear up your-"
"Alright, I think you should stop." Arian stepped between them, stopping Edhas from finishing his sentence. He would have let the twins bicker all day, but Devain and Edhas were one step from attacking each other, weapons in hands, eyes glowing. Arian knew better than to let those two fight. He had to calm them down.
"Good thing that your little guard is here to butt in for you." Devain said mockingly. Edhas gave him a look as if to tell him that this time was personal. He wanted to attack, but Arian knew exactly what he was thinking and put his hands around the shorter man, imprisoning him. Devain continued to make fun of them. The three women next to the twins face-palmed in unison.
The twins were bewildered. When Edhas told them to be careful because there were people after him, they expected them to be enemies or some people that were after the Stones, not a family reunion or whatever this was.
"I am confused, aren't you enemies?" Rohan asked, without looking Jaimin in the eyes. He learned his lesson after she somehow managed to make him behave like a fool.
"Did Edhas say that?" Jaimin answered with a question, which was a horrible way to answer in Rohan's opinion.
"No." He said, remembering that Edhas only told them that some people were after him. He didn't give them any reasons as to why this was happening.
"Then I guess we're not." The dry answer angered Jessalyin. If she wasn't going to give them relevant information, better not answer them at all. Jessalyin wanted to give Jaimin a piece of her mind, but the two women that sat next to them walked towards the trio that was arguing. They pushed Devain out of their way and sat in front of Edhas with their arms crossed, like some mothers scolding their child.
"We looked everywhere for you."
"Nice to see you again, Veida, Rosabella. Beautiful as always."
"Cut the pleasantries. Where were you?" Veida asked, trying to sound mad but in fact she was really worried.
"When the map appeared and you were nowhere to be found I thought that this time you really..." Rosabella couldn't finish her sentence, being cut off by Edhas shoving a hand in her face. His face unimpressed. He turned his attention to the twins, the other people in the room only remembering that they were not alone.
"Could you leave us for a few minutes?" Edhas asked the twins. That surprised them. At first he didn't even want to get close to the ship because of this group of people and now he was asking to be left alone with them. Clearly, he had some things to settle in private. His face was serious while he was looking at the women in front of him. The twins granted him his wish, getting out of the room. When Jessalyin turned around to tell him that they were there for him if he needed any help, he moved his spear and put the door back in its place without giving the twins a second glance.
"What do you think they're talking about?" Rohan asked, curious about the things Edhas couldn't say in front of them. He tried to eavesdrop but Jessalyin slapped his head.
"Don't listen to their conversation, it's rude."
"I'm worried for Edhas, these people look like trouble."
"You should be more worried about them and not Edhas. Beeboy's pissed."
"Really? Seemed pretty calm to me. How can you tell?"
"Woman intuition."
"Alright then, keep your secrets."
"They have quite the heated discussion over there." Jessalyin pointed out, hearing yelling on the other side of the door. They were certainly arguing about something big. A thought went through Jess's mind. "Do you think he ran away from home?
"It's a probability. He does look like a spoiled brat. There's also a chance something else is going on. That woman did say something about the map."
"If he decides to go back with them, we'll have to respect his decision."
"And then we'll never find the Stones." Rohan said disappointed. He wanted to continue searching for the Stones, but if Edhas decided to end their deal and go with his brother and their companions, then they had no choice but to part ways. The thought of separation saddened him a little bit and not only because he'll lose the opportunity to wield a Stone, but because he'll miss having a third person around. When he was not fighting with Jessalyin, Edhas and he would chat about all kind of things, the younger man was well versed in a lot of domains.
The twins sat down on the floor, each on one side of the door, ready to enter if they considered that Edhas needed help. The room was loud, it didn't seem that they'll stop fighting soon. Jessalyin and Rohan shared a look, ready to go inside and offer their support if Edhas requested. There was a moment of silence and then the door was broken by a person who just flew through it. This startled the twins. At first they thought that it was Edhas and wanted to help him get up, but after seeing his clothes they understood that it was, in fact, Devain and stopped in their tracks.
Devain seemed to be in pain, his nose bleeding. Edhas walked slowly in his direction, his spear in one hand and his brother's in the other. Devain was furious, but didn't move from his place. Edhas stopped in front of his brother and put his spear under Devain's chin, making the man look him in the eyes. You could cut the tension with a knife. Everyone was on edge, not sure what was going to happen next. The three women in the room had weapons in their hands, ready to defend their companion. Seeing this, the twins withdrew their swords, warning them that they will not allow them to attack Edhas without a fight. They were unsure of what was going on, but they knew that they will side with Edhas. Partly because they were a so-called team, but mostly because the twins could tell who was really in charge.
"Edhas..." Arian wanted to calm him down, but he was silenced by Edhas with a move of his spear. He didn't have a weapon in his hands, he wanted to try and resonate with Edhas. Arian approached Edhas carefully, thinking about what just happened. He hasn't seen Edhas so angry in a long time.
