Dilion let out a sigh.
“But, I’m trying to tell you, dude! Venturing out at night is thrilling! I mean, how many times have you seen groups of fireflies out in the city?”
I raised a brow, fireflies appeared in groups?
“Or...how many times have you seen the night sky? It isn’t completely black like the city shows it to be.”
“I can see the sky from my window,” I said.
“Anyone can! But, in a forest? Nothing but the sound of crickets with the soft grass underneath you and a cool breeze? Trust me, there’s no better experience than that.” He grinned before he turned to walk towards my window.
I couldn’t help but narrow my eyes in thought at his words, at any time of the night, I could’ve easily snuck out of my room and experienced these little moments on my own. Fireflies, cool breeze and all but...unlike the person who had casually made his way here, through my window and was preparing himself to make the same trip back home all over again? I was afraid, I was nervous about what laid in the forest at night. Why take a risk when it was so much easier staying inside?
Why take risks at all?!
It was stupid!
What if there were wild animals or poisonous plants?! What if we encountered the cult? There are so many things to consider! But, as I nearly pulled my hair out of its braid while I paced back and forth in front of my window, I couldn’t help but let out a small sigh at a small memory.
Eos...she had told me I was too cautious, that I was going to analyze and analyze until I didn't know that the exciting moments of my life were passing me by.
Yet, with that thought, it was quickly washed away by the sound of Dilion snapping his fingers in my face.
"So...?" Dilion hummed as he stepped back to begin crawling out of my window.
"Are you gonna consider or not? Cause if so, I'm leav-"
“Wait,” I said just before Dillion could walk off from the window.
He looked back at me with a cocky but playful smile. “Yes?”
“When- When are you going?”
“Going where?” Dillion chuckled, a mischievous knowing look in his eyes.
“Exploring damn it!” I huffed, causing him to grin.
“I’m going tomorrow.”
I widened my eyes.
So soon?
“If you don’t get cold feet before then, you’ll be able to find me out in the grass fields near the forest. Try not to bring your bird, will you? I don’t want one of my eyes poked out.” He sighed.
I couldn’t help but start to grin while Dillion merely chuckled a final time and turned on his heels to begin walking off.
“I’ll be there to meet you then!” I called out.
He looked back at me one final time and gave me a thumbs-up with a laugh.
This better have not been a mistake....that’s all I was hoping and praying to the Storm Empress for.
