(Season 2)
- TVA, what does it stand for? - I asked the guard, I had just noticed that her helmet had C-99 written on it. - You'll see soon enough – He took my arm again and pulled me into a reception. In the center of it there was an orange circular counter, it made me laugh because it looked like half the fruit, with a man in the middle of it; and stripped me off my helmet.
- Take this to evidence – she pushed it against the counter, - What is it? Some sort of crown? - the guy behind it asked looking at it funny, - Actually, it works as a crest, a symbol – the words came out of my mouth soft and gentle, - A symbol of what? - he was being curious and reluctant, - Family – he smiled, he had the cutest smile.
- Move variant! - she pulled me again, and shoved me inside a dark room, - See you on the other side, variant – she kept calling me that, so fucking annoying, because it definitely didn't sound like a nice term.
Everything was happening so damn fast that I didn't understand shit what was happening. I felt a tap on my shoulder and a smiling... robot? disintegrated my armor, the ground opened under my feet afterwards and I fell on my feet fully dressed in a beige cardigan, which had the letters TVA written in orange across my torso.
- Mythic – I looked up and the trap closed. I was now in an office, but couldn't memorize or concentrate in anything else because there was a cat, and it was so cute! - Please sign to verify this is everything you've ever said – the man behind the desk said but I was too busy petting the purring animal, - What? - I muttered, a paper came out of the impresser and he added it to the little stash, - And this -.
Since anything I said was going to make another page, I kept quiet. I took the pile of papers and sat next to the cat to check if it really contained everything I've ever said in my life. I had to take out some papers because I couldn't remember ever saying such nonsense about the Valkyries, other than that, everything was in order. I got up and put the pile back in front of him, took the pencil and signed my name on the first page.
The floor opened again and I fell in another room, this one being absolutely creepy.
- Please confirm to your knowledge, that you are not a fully robotic being, were born an organic creature, and do in fact possess what many cultures would call a soul – the man on the other side of the creepy metal detector spoke, - Do a lot of people don't know if they're robots? Creepy - he seemed pissed off, given the glare he shot at me, - Thank you for your confirmation, please move through - I stepped on the metal platform, after a nerving sound, it set off a flash.
My sight went shit, literally, everything was dark and with shiny colorful dots, it hurt like hell, - What the fuck was that?! - I grabbed the corner of the detector for support, but ended up falling anyways, - Beast eyes? - I nodded holding my eyes, - Happens all the time, believe me, open your eyes for me I'll put some drops – I straighten up realizing he was closer.
The drops fell into my eyes, causing me to reflexively close them, after a few seconds I was able to see normally again, even better than before. - Thank you very much, sir, you are very kind – I stood up from the floor and doors opened in front of me. - Keep moving – he said in the stern tone of before.
I got out of the creepy room, literally I felt like I was looking in 4K, for a couple minutes until I went back to my semi-blurry stage, like, I'm not blind, but I can't really distinguish shapes that well, the edges of the people look rather fuzzy and blurry.
- Take a ticket – a guard order with a dominant voice, "seems that everybody woke up with their wrong foot this morning" I thought while actually taking a ticket, and making my way through the torniquet, and into the long "line". Have you ever been stuck in a bank line? Well, it had this bands that separates the like for it to be organized, but there was no one else than me.
And before I went gangster and pass under the bands, I heard the tv above my head play a little tune, - Hey there! You're probably confused and scared, you have no idea where you are right now. Welcome to the Time Variance Authority – THAT FUCKING CLOCK!!!! My head stopped working when I saw the cartoon, instantly I remembered my dream where it exploded.
- Fucking hell, I saw the future – that was my mother's thing, and my sister's, I was so damn happy that I got to have a bit of it too.
- This is bullshit – After hearing the whole "We are the TVA" explanation video, I realized something that made my heart sunk low. I had no place in the timeline, and without it ... I couldn't go back to her.
I resumed my walk to the next guard, to which I gave my ticket, then he escorted me through the doors to the next room, it was my second time in court. There I saw the C-99 guard again, formally standing to the left of the orange podium at the end of the hall.
I waved at her, and she gave me a friendly smile in return, she looked lovely despite her firm stand.
- Lokidottir, Variant T02, AKA Tesseract Jörmungandr Lokidottir, is charged with sequence violation 7-20-89 – A woman walked up to the high table, looking at a stash of papers as she spoke.
- How do you plead? - I fixed myself in the podium, straighten up my posture, - Innocent, your honor, the ax just fell on the sand, I literally didn't even move - "The truth will make us free" I thought to myself, reassuring my nerves.
- What are you talking about? - she was also pissed off. Was it my fault? everyone was acting so hostile, but she had this obnoxious pedantic tone in her voice and her attitude, I felt as if from that height she only saw me as an insect, a plague... a beast.
- My "Nexus Event", if I understood correctly, that's my "crime" against the sacred timeline, but it wasn't my fault, ergo, not my crime – That look she gave me, I saw it as clear as daylight, the eyes of a tyrant.
- I'm afraid you can't go back to the timeline – "So what? you're going to kill an innocent?" I growled in my mind, - I'm aware, ma'am, however if your organization sees all and knows all, there should be records that keeps information about people and their lives, is that correct? - My exhaustion forced me to inadvertently put my weight on the orange railing of the podium, none of the guards in the room noticed that.
- You wish to see your life? what for? - I shook my head with a sly smile, - I wish to see Loki Laufeyson's memories, from my timeline – she seemed surprised, but immediately, her expression went dark. - I don't see why that benefits us, prune her – she ordered, but C-99 turn her weapon against them, - This is how your laws works? why didn't you just pruned me in the beach? This is beyond unfair, I'm innocent!! -
- That's irrelevant! - she hit the wood on the table, while the guards kept trying to get to me, C-99 keeping them at bay, - Not so much if you asked how I plead, give me the records! - she made the guards stand down. Funny, she didn't mention C-99's treason.
- Or what? - I smiled, the negotiation started, - Do I really need to threaten you? How much of a trouble it really means? Look, I really don't want to do this the wrong way, and you look like a strong intelligent woman, I'm sure we can make a deal - she took a minute, but after considerate it, she finally said: - Go on -.
- I have questions regarding his memories, and my mother's, as soon as I have my answers, you're free to prune me. I just want to go with a bit of peace of mind - "Only the truth will make us free" I repeated, but that little white lie was going to give me answers.
- Motion Granted, agent Mobius, escort Tesseract to the archives - With much hatred in her tone, she struck the puck with her gavel, and pointed at a man sitting on the farthest bench by the door.
A growl escaped my throat at the mention of my name, a menacing one that made her visibly shiver.
- Come on, follow me - For an agent, he looked scruffy, his tie was poorly tied, and his nose was malformed, although in my opinion it gave character to his image.
I gave C-99 a hug before I followed the man, - Thank you – I whispered, - Move, variant – That time, she didn't say it as a disqualification.
- You know, I've met your dad – Mobius broke the silence after a long walk down the corridors, - Sorry that you had the misfortune – I felt pity for the man, probably he ended up betrayed too, but the way he looked while thinking about him.
- Hey! that's not a way to speak about your old man, young lady – He really liked taking the "dad" stand, it was apparent.
- So, you're saying you actually enjoyed his company? - my smirk made him laugh, - He can be arrogant, and a bit of an ass, but he's actually not that bad -.
- If you say so – I wished I could grin, or even laugh, but my nervousness got the best of me, next to him I felt somehow safe so I didn't put much in hide it.
- You look scared – he placed a hand on my shoulder, well... tried. I was far taller than him.
- Strange place, a psycho woman who's going to kill me for a crime I did not commit, last time this happened to me I ended up locked up for five years and tortured – gosh that sounded so... cold and dead.
He asked me what did I "not" do, so I took a moment to really summarize the whole thing. - I was charged for holding information, being an accomplice basically, but they suspected me of killing millions and destroying government property, my cousin made it look like I was trying to avenge Loki's death, and attempt to claim earth again -.
- So, no "dad", huh? - That was all he picked up? It was reassuring that he didn't change his expression, the same look, so curious and innocent.
- Want me to call you daddy? - I taunted him, just a little bit until the blush creeped on his cheeks, - Hehehe, no – he quickly shifted away from me, "Wise man, good morals, and sane enough" my dad does pick good companies.
- Here you go, Loki's records and Angerboda's, and here are yours if you want to check them out – he picked up two little squares, putting both in my hands, while holding the third one with my name in his hand.
- Thank you, sir - I leaned in slightly, smiling at the opportunity to finally learn the truth, - It's no problem, and call me Mobius – I nodded and patted his back, - You're ok...to be friends with my father – he quickly turned to look at me, - Hey! What's that supposed to mean?! - I couldn't reply because I was out of air, laughing my lungs out while he looked so damn offended.
- Anyways, the time theater is this way – he got bored of my goofiness and lead me down another corridor, until we were standing in front of two orange doors, that lead to a very spacious room with a table in its center.
- Are you sure you want to watch this? - he closed the door then walked me to one of the chairs next to the table, - I need to know - I had my eyes on his movements while he placed the squares inside the projector.
- Ok, know what exactly? - he was concentrated in not fucking it up, so I mumbled, - Why he never came back – but he didn't hear me, - What's that? - he asked looking up from what he was doing, - Well, what kind of kid never wished to know their parent's past? - I quicky made a joke to avoid having to answer.
- Literally no one – he sat back in his chair, - Just play the record... Please? - I begged him, desperation already crawling under my skin, - Have it your way, you need privacy? - so nice of him to ask that, - I don't mind you here, but you can go if you want to, I have honor in my promises, unlike him, so you can be at ease knowing that I won't try to escape – he didn't move from his seat, he watched me in awe.
- Also, there's guards outside, it wouldn't be wise – he actually found that somewhat humorous, due to the scoff he released. - Good to know someone in your family actually honors a deal -.
- A whole pack of liars and deceivers – I whispered, concentrating in the numerous dots that formed the image on the wall.
- You'd be surprised – he added, before staying quiet, as the image took place in Jotunheim.
