“This is bad…!”, said Morgan. “This is really bad! What am I gonna do?!”. She noticed the body standing up with difficulty. She quickly ran over to the body and helped it up. “You’re alive?!”.
The skeleton body stumbled over to the edge of the building and fell. It hit the floor with a loud thud then struggled to its feet. All of the students that were fighting each other suddenly turned their attention to it.
Damian’s head noticed his body being surrounded. “Get back you savages!”, he shouted. His body shoved one of the corrupted students and sent them flying into another. Damian stared at his body in amazement. It felt like he was watching someone else pull off a superhuman feat.
Several corrupted humans charged at him with torches in their hands. His body quickly jumped into the air. They responded by chucking them at him and knocking him back down. Many corrupted students quickly formed a circle around him, placed their torches down, and moved away. Now there was a ring of fire surrounding him.
“You bastards are trying to burn me?!”. Cold white mist suddenly burst out of the skeleton body and extinguished flames. The corrupted humans watched the mist carefully, waiting for it to clear away before attacking their target. The body leapt through the mist and punched the ground near many of them while releasing a shockwave of white mist. They all went flying and upon impact with the ground the ghosts possessing them left their bodies in an unconscious state.
Damian looked around carefully from his limited field of vision. After making sure no one was left to attack any part of him, his body began to approach his head. By the time his head had finally reconnected to his body, Morgan had caught up to him.
“Damian?”, she asked timidly. He pointed at her, clearly annoyed. “If you smack my head off again I’ll smack yours.”
“S-Sorry about that”, she said. “Y-You startled me”. Damian held up his hands. “I thought that I died…”. He looked carefully at the skeleton hands he now possessed. “I might not be too far off...”
Morgan gave him a concerned look. “I um...Don’t know why this happened to you, but I think this is why Lord Death chose you to save both worlds”.
Damian turned away from her. “This isn’t my problem to deal with”. Morgan looked hesitant for a moment. “Right now there are ghosts influencing your classmates to cause destruction...If you do not stop this right now then everything will be destroyed and many will die”.
Damian looked at her from the corner of his eye. “...And?”.
Morgan thought carefully about what to say next. “It appears that I was right.”, she thought to herself. “The shade influencing Damian brought his apathetic traits to the surface”.
“None of your possessions will survive the destruction”, said Morgan. “And your way of life will change as a result”.
Damian groaned. “This is a pain in the ass! Fine! I’ll stop the damn ghosts!”
Suddenly, the surrounding area became brighter. They both looked towards the center of the dorm section and saw a large bonfire. A shadowy figure was standing in front of it.
As they got closer they noticed the shadowy figure was a woman wearing a black cloak covered in bones and had a mask that covered the lower half of her face. The moment the woman saw them her eyes lit up.
She quickly ran over to Damian. “A black skeleton?! Yes! I never expected to see one again in person! It’s been so long!”. Morgan gave the woman a confused look. “Who are you?”
The stranger gasped then let loose loud jovial laughter. “A witch?! This day keeps getting better and better!”. Damian lost his patience. “Hey! Stop staring and answer the damn question!”.
The woman returned her attention to Damian. “Hmmm... Kuchisake Onna... Dr. Kuchisake Onna. I am a lover of myths, legends and tales of fantasy. Now a question from yours truly. What shall I call you?”
Damian gave Morgan a confused look. “I don’t even know what you are.”, she responded. Kuchisake frowned. “Shame...How about Cross Bones and Witch? Yes…” The tales of Cross Bones and Witch!”. She waved her hand across the air as if she was picturing it as a movie title. “A legend in the making that will be remembered for centuries!”.
Damian turned to Morgan. “This bitch is crazy.”. Kuchisake placed her hands on her hips. “Take a moment to let it all sink in…!” A giant black skull appeared in the flames. “This is where your legend begins!”, she continued. Late at night...frightful fight...With the Phantom of Flames!”
The skull breathed out a large cloud of smoke around the area and obstructed their vision. Many orange lights began to appear within the smoke and quickly approached Damian. His head got smacked off by a torch.
“That’s it!”, Damian yelled. His body charged through the smoke, blasting many sources of light with a cold white mist. One corrupted human tried to smack his body with the remains of his torch, but Damian caught it with one hand and held up the other. A small cloud of white mist spiraled into existence in his palm.
“This is for my head!”, he yelled. He slammed the mist into the stomach of the corrupted human and launched them through the smoke while cutting it in half. The smoke dispersed and revealed many unconscious humans with black smoke around them in front of Kuchisake. She applauded then pointed at the giant flaming skull.
The skull spat out multiple balls of fire at Damian. He quickly started running to avoid them, but stopped only for a second to reattach his head. Morgan began capturing the ghosts that were possessing the other students.
Damian fired several blasts of white mist at the skull, but it dispersed them with more fireballs. Damian jumped into the air and covered both of his hands in white mist. The skull fired out a large fireball and Damian intercepted it with his fists. An explosion of black smoke and white mist sent Damian plummeting towards the ground. The skull extended a large flaming tongue made out of chains and caught Damian.
“No! No! No!”, protested Damian as it quickly slurped him up. Kuchisake watched for a few moments as nothing happened. “I kind of thought something else would...”, she began. The skull suddenly opened its mouth and released a continuous flow of white mist.
“Let me out!”, yelled Damian. It spat him out in the form of a fireball. He skipped across the ground like a pebble skipping across a pond before coming to a stop. Damian groaned as he stood up with difficulty.
Kuchisake turned her attention to the giant flaming skull. “Take to the skies Phantom of Flames! There must be a sequel to your act and it will be better than the original!”.
The phantom smothered the surrounding area in smoke. When the smoke cleared, Kuchisake, the phantom and all of the shades were gone. Morgan gazed at the area with a look of disappointment. “We...Failed...”.
Damian walked over to her. “Great, now I don’t have to deal with this shit anymore.”. Morgan gave him a pleading look. “I still need your help to save the world.”.
Damian made a fist as anger steamed inside him. “I never agreed to that! I never asked for you to come into my life and dump all of your problems on me!” Morgan could feel panic setting in. “W-What am I supposed to do?! I’m all alone here!”
Damian turned away from her. “Like I said, not my problem!”. He walked away into the distance.
