Chapter One
Addison Miracle (her parents chose her last name) sat on the edge of Brooklyn Bridge… She wonders how she came to this. To suicide?
When she was eleven she came out to her parents. It was her birthday, and one of her friends wanted to play Spin-the-Bottle. Naturally, everyone was excited because for most of them it was their first kiss. When it was Addison’s turn, the bottle landed on her best friend, Sarah. Alex, who was sitting beside Sarah, exclaimed;”Oh! It landed on me!...”
“No, look…” Corrected Chloé, who wasn’t playing, and had verified from above. “It’s not pointing at you, It’s pointing at Sarah.”
“I’ll kiss you, Alex…” Quinn tried to put in, but nobody heard him.
“But two girls can’t kiss! That’s not normal!”
“Uuugh Alex SHUT UP. Hey Addy? You know you don’t have to kiss anyone if you don’t want to.” Comforted Chloé.
“No, I’m fine with it…” And she leaned in towards Sarah’s mouth.
She ended up kissing Sarah and thought about it a lot overnight. The next day she told her parents that she had realized that she was gay, and they didn’t take it so well. Luckily, Sarah’s parents are gay moms themselves, so she wasn’t in trouble for anything. (Actually she was praised for being an adorable gay bean.) Meanwhile, Addison was locked in her room again with double security while her parents were on a trip. Since she was six, she had been escaping from her ‘prison’ whenever her parents left her alone. When she was thirteen, she built a rope ladder and attached it to her window, so that she wouldn’t get caught so often, trying to sneak down the hallway.
That night, she found herself climbing down that same old rope ladder and down through her mother’s garden and over to the bridge closest to her house.
You might think this is a hasty end to a book, but be patient. The book doesn't end.
