Light may be seen as hope and darkness may be seen as despair, but I don't believe that hope and despair are opposites. Being in darkness isn't the end of hope but rather a series of crossroads on which we may have missed the opportunity to see hope come to fruition. On these dark roads, we may fall and despair, lamenting the hope that slipped between our grasping fingers--but even in this state, we are capable of moving forward. There's nothing wrong with stumbling around in the dark; that usually takes up most of our lives. We can take as much time as we need to mourn lost flickers of light, but we've only truly fallen to darkness when we stop getting back up.
A candle shines more brightly in the shadows than it would if drenched in an overbearing light; as we struggle, our own inner light begins to glow lighting our way and maybe even the way of others. It's okay to share it. One can defeat the darkness by embracing it and becoming its light.
And so "Tenebrism" ends! Sorry the conclusion took longer than expected. I'll announce it when the next story comes out! Did you guys like splitting the story up into parts or would you prefer it if I just finished each story and uploaded it all at the same time?
